1 As for you, son of man, take a sharp sword and use it like a barber's razor, passing it over your head and beard. Then take a set of scales and divide the hair you have cut.	1 Figlio dell’uomo, prendi una spada affilata, usala come un rasoio da barbiere e raditi i capelli e la barba. Poi prendi una bilancia e dividi i peli tagliati.
2 Burn a third in the fire, within the city, when the days of your siege are completed; place another third around the city and strike it with the sword; the final third strew in the wind, and pursue it with the sword.	2 Un terzo lo brucerai sul fuoco in mezzo alla città al termine dei giorni dell’assedio. Prenderai un altro terzo e lo taglierai con la spada intorno alla città. Disperderai al vento l’ultimo terzo, mentre io sguainerò la spada dietro a loro.
3 (But of the last take a small number and tie them in the hem of your garment.	3 Conservane solo alcuni e li legherai al lembo del tuo mantello;
4 Then take some of these and throw them in the midst of the fire and burn them.) Say to the whole house of Israel:	4 ne prenderai ancora una piccola parte e li getterai sulla brace e da essi si sprigionerà il fuoco e li brucerai. A tutta la casa d’Israele riferirai:
5 Thus says the Lord GOD: This is Jerusalem! In the midst of the nations I placed her, surrounded by foreign countries.	5 Così dice il Signore Dio: Questa è Gerusalemme! Io l’avevo collocata in mezzo alle nazioni e circondata di paesi stranieri.
6 But she rebelled against my ordinances more wickedly than the nations, and against my statutes more than the foreign countries surrounding her; she has spurned my ordinances and has not lived by my statutes.	6 Essa si è ribellata con empietà alle mie norme più delle nazioni e alle mie leggi più dei paesi che la circondano: hanno disprezzato le mie norme e non hanno camminato secondo le mie leggi.
7 Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: Because you have been more rebellious than the nations surrounding you, not living by my statutes nor fulfilling my ordinances, but acting according to the ordinances of the surrounding nations;	7 Perciò, dice il Signore Dio: Poiché voi siete più ribelli delle nazioni che vi circondano, non avete camminato secondo le mie leggi, non avete osservato le mie norme e neppure avete agito secondo le norme delle nazioni che vi stanno intorno,
8 therefore thus says the Lord GOD: See, I am coming at you! I will inflict punishments in your midst while the nations look on.	8 ebbene, così dice il Signore Dio: Ecco, anch’io sono contro di te! Farò giustizia di te di fronte alle nazioni.
9 Because of all your abominations I will do with you what I have never done before, the like of which I will never do again.	9 Farò a te quanto non ho mai fatto e non farò mai più, a causa delle tue colpe abominevoli.
10 This means that fathers within you shall eat sons, and sons shall eat fathers. I will inflict punishments upon you and scatter all that remain of your people in every direction.	10 Perciò in mezzo a te i padri divoreranno i figli e i figli divoreranno i padri. Porterò a compimento i miei giudizi contro di te e disperderò ai quattro venti quello che resterà di te.
11 Therefore, as I live, says the Lord GOD, because you have defiled my sanctuary with all your detestable abominations, I swear to cut you down. I will not look upon you with pity nor have mercy.	11 Com’è vero che io vivo, oracolo del Signore Dio: poiché tu hai profanato il mio santuario con tutte le tue nefandezze e con tutte le tue abominazioni, anche io raderò tutto, il mio occhio non si impietosirà, non avrò compassione.
12 A third of your people shall die of pestilence and perish of hunger within you; another third shall fall by the sword all around you; and a third I will scatter in every direction, and I will pursue them with the sword.	12 Un terzo dei tuoi morirà di peste e perirà di fame in mezzo a te; un terzo cadrà di spada attorno a te e l’altro terzo lo disperderò a tutti i venti e li inseguirò con la spada sguainata.
13 Thus shall my anger spend itself, and I will wreak my fury upon them till I am appeased; they shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken in my jealousy when I spend my fury upon them.	13 Allora darò sfogo alla mia ira, scaricherò su di loro il mio furore e mi vendicherò; allora sapranno che io, il Signore, avevo parlato con sdegno, quando sfogherò su di loro il mio furore.
14 I will make you a waste and a reproach among the nations that surround you, which every passer-by may see.	14 Ti ridurrò a un deserto, a un obbrobrio in mezzo alle nazioni circostanti, sotto gli sguardi di tutti i passanti.
15 When I execute judgment upon you in anger and fury and with furious chastisements, you shall be a reproach and an object of scorn, a terrible warning to the nations that surround you. I, the LORD, have spoken!	15 Sarai un obbrobrio e un vituperio, un esempio e un orrore per le genti che ti circondano – io, il Signore, ho parlato – quando in mezzo a te farò giustizia, con sdegno e furore, con terribile vendetta,
16 When I loose against you the cruel, destructive arrows of hunger, I will break your staff of bread;	16 quando scoccherò contro di voi le terribili frecce della fame, che portano distruzione e che lancerò per distruggervi, e quando aumenterò la fame contro di voi, togliendovi la riserva del pane.
17 I will send famine against you, and wild beasts that shall rob you of your children. Pestilence and bloodshed shall stalk through you, and I will bring the sword upon you. I, the LORD, have spoken!	17 Allora manderò contro di voi la fame e le belve, che ti distruggeranno i figli; in mezzo a te passeranno la peste e la strage, mentre farò piombare sopra di te la spada. Io, il Signore, ho parlato».
