1 Concerning Moab, thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe to Nebo, it is laid waste; Kiriathaim is disgraced and captured, Disgraced and overthrown is the stronghold:	1 Contro di Moab così parla il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d'Israele: Guai a Nabo; perocché ella è devastata, ed umiliata: Cariathiarim è stata espugnata: la forte è confusa, e in tremito.
2 Moab's glory is no more. Evil they plan against Heshbon: "Come, let us put an end to her as a people." You, too, Madmen, shall be reduced to silence; behind you stalks the sword.	2 Non v'è più allegrezza in Moab: han formati cattivi disegni contro di Hesebon: Venite, distruggiamola, che non sia più tralle genti. Tu adunque starai in silenzio, e la spada ti sarà alle spalle.
3 Listen! a cry from Horonaim of ruin and great destruction!	3 Strepiti, e strida da Oronaim: devastamento, e strage grande.
4 Moab is crushed, their outcry is heard in Zoar.	4 Moab è abbattuta: annunziate a' suoi pargoletti, ch'ei strideranno.
5 The ascent of Luhith they climb weeping; On the descent to Horonaim the cry of destruction is heard.	5 Ella salirà il colle di Luith tra pianti continui: i nemici hanno udito nella calata di Oronaim le urla de' miserabili:
6 "Flee, save your lives, to survive like the wild ass in the desert!"	6 Fuggite, salvate le vostre vite, siate come il tamarisco nel deserto.
7 Because you trusted in your works and your treasures, you also shall be captured. Chemosh shall go into exile, his priests and princes with him.	7 Conciossiachè per aver tu avuta fidanza nelle tue forze, e ne' tuoi tesori, tu pur sarai presa: e muterà paese Chamos, e i suoi sacerdoti, e i suoi principi insieme.
8 The destroyer comes upon every city, not a city escapes; Ruined is the valley, wasted the plain, as the LORD has said.	8 E a tutte le città si accosterà il ladrone, e nissuna città rimarrà salva: e saran desolate le valli, e minate le campagne; perocché il Signore lo ha detto:
9 Set up a memorial for Moab, for it is an utter wasteland; Its cities are turned into ruins where no one dwells.	9 Coronate Moab di fiori; perocché coronata ella muterà paese, e le sue cittadi saran deserte, e inabitabili.
10 (Cursed be he who does the LORD'S work remissly, cursed he who holds back his sword from blood.)	10 Maledetto chi fa l'opera del Signore con mala fede, e maledetto colui, che rattiene la spada di lui dallo spargere il sangue.
11 Moab has been tranquil from his youth, has rested upon his lees; He was not poured from one flask to another, he went not into exile. Thus he kept his taste, and his scent was not lost.	11 Moab fin dalla sua adolescenza fu fertile, e riposò sulla sua fondata; e non fu trasfuso d'uno in altro vaso, egli non ha mutato paese; per questo il suo sapore si è conservato, e non è alterato il suo odore.
12 Hence, the days shall come, says the LORD, when I will send him coopers to turn him over; they shall empty his flasks and break his jars.	12 Ecco però che viene il tempo, dice il Signore, quand'io manderò a lui uomini pratici nel disporre i vasi, e nel mutare il vino, e faranno la muta, e vuoteranno i vasi, e li spezzeranno.
13 Chemosh shall disappoint Moab, as Israel was disappointed by Bethel in which they trusted.	13 E Moab sarà confuso per ragion di Chamos, come la casa d'Israele è, stata confusa a causa di Bethel, in cui avea speranza.
14 How can you say, "We are heroes, men valiant in war"?	14 Come mai dite voi: Noi siamo forti, e valorosi a combattere?
15 The ravager of Moab and his cities advances, the flower of his youth goes down to be slaughtered, says the King, the LORD of hosts by name.	15 Il paese di Moab è devastato, e son ite in fumo le sue città: e la scelta sua gioventù è andata al macello, dice il Re, che si noma il Signor degli eserciti.
16 Near at hand is Moab's ruin, his disaster hastens apace.	16 La perdizione di Moab è imminente: e le sue sciagure verranno con somma celerità.
17 Mourn for him, all you his neighbors, all you who knew him well! Say: How the strong staff is broken, the glorious rod!	17 Consolatelo tutti voi, che intorno a lui dimorate: e voi, che avete di lui conoscenza, dite: Come mai è stato spezzato lo scettro forte, il bastone di gloria?
18 Come down from glory, sit on the ground, you that dwell in Dibon; Moab's ravager has come up against you, he has ruined your strongholds.	18 Scendi dalla tua gloria, e siedi in arido sito, o figlia abitatrice di Dibon: perocché lo sterminatore di Moab sen viene a te, e abbatterà tue difese.
19 Stand by the wayside, watch closely, you that dwell in Aroer; Ask the man who flees, the woman who tries to escape: say to them, "What has happened?"	19 Stattene sulla strada, e fa l'ascolta, o abitatrice di Aroer: domanda al fuggitivo, e a colui, che ha avuto scampo, dì: Che è egli stato?
20 Moab is disgraced, yes, destroyed, howl and cry out; Publish it at the Arnon, Moab is ruined!	20 Moab è confuso, perchè è stato vinto: urlate, alzate le strida, fate sapere lungo l'Arnon, che Moab è devastata.
21 For judgment has come on the land of the plateau: on Holon, Jahzah, and Mephaath,	21 E la vendetta è venuta sulla terra campestre, sopra Helon, e sopra Jafa, e sopra Mephaath,
22 on Dibon, Nebo, and Beth-diblathaim,	22 E sopra Dibon, e sopra Nabo, e sopra la casa di Deblathaim,
23 on Kiriathaim, Beth-gamul, and Beth-meon,	23 E sopra Cariathaim, e sopra Bethgamul, e sopra Bethmaon,
24 on Kerioth and on Bozrah: on all the cities of Moab, far and near.	24 E sopra Carioth, e sopra Bosra; e sopra tutte le città del paese di Moab, le rimote, e le vicine.
25 Moab's strength is broken, his might is shattered, says the LORD.	25 E stato troncato il corno di Moab, e spezzato il suo braccio, dice il Signore.
26 Because he boasted against the LORD, make Moab drunk so that he retches and vomits, and he too becomes a laughingstock.	26 Inebriatelo, perchè egli si è inalberato contro il Signore, e vomiti, e sbatta le mani, e sia egli pure oggetto di scherno.
27 Is Israel a laughingstock to you? Was she caught among thieves, that you shake your head whenever you speak of her?	27 Imperocché tu schernisti Israele, come se lo avessi sorpreso in compagnia di ladri: a motivo adunque delle parole, che hai detto contro di lui, sarai tu menato in ischiavitù.
28 Leave the cities, dwell in the crags, you that dwell in Moab. Be like a dove that nests out of reach on the edge of a chasm.	28 Abbandonate le città, andate a stare sui massi, o abitatori di Moab: e siate come colomba, che fa suo nido nella parte più alta della forata rupe.
29 We have heard of the pride of Moab, pride beyond bounds: His loftiness, his pride, his scorn, his insolence of heart.	29 Abbiam sentito parlare della superbia di Moab, che è grandemente superbo; e della sua altura, e della arroganza, e della superbia, e dell'elevato suo cuore.
30 I know, says the LORD, his arrogance; liar in boast, liar in deed.	30 Io conosco, dice il Signore, la sua giattanza; e che a questa il suo valor non confina, e i suoi tentativi non furon proporzionati al suo potere.
31 And so I wail over Moab, over all Moab I cry, over the men of Kir-heres I moan.	31 Per questo io alzerò le strida sopra di Moab, e a tutto Moab farò sentir la mia voce, e agli uomini delle mura di mattone, i quali menan gran duolo.
32 More than for Jazer I weep over you, vineyard of Sibmah. Your tendrils trailed down to the sea, as far as Jazer they stretched. Upon your harvest, upon your vintage, the ravager has fallen.	32 Come ho pianto Jazer, cosi piangerò te, o vigna di Sabama; le tue propaggini hanno passato il mare, sono arrivate fino al mare di Jazer: sopra la tua messe, e sopra la tua vendemmia si è gittato il ladrone.
33 Joy and jubilation are at an end in the fruit gardens of the land of Moab. I drain the wine from the wine vats, the treader treads no more, the vintage shout is stilled.	33 L'allegrezza, e il gaudio è stato tolto al Carmelo, ed a Moab: ho tolto il vino agli strettoi; né colui, che pigia le uve, canterà la usata canzone.
34 The cry of Heshbon and Elealeh is heard as far as Jahaz; they call from Zoar to Horonaim, and to Eglath-shelishiyah, for even the waters of Nimrim turn into a desert.	34 Le grida di Hesebon arriveran fino ad Eleale, ed a Jasa: hanno alzata la loro voce da Segor fino ad Oronaim, come una vitella di tre anni. Le acque ancora di Nemrim saran di pessima qualità.
35 I will leave no one in Moab, says the LORD, to offer a holocaust on the high place, or to burn incense to his gods.	35 E io toglierò da Moab, dice il Signore, e colui, che fa obblazioni ne' luoghi elevati, e colui, che fa sacrifizio agli dii di lui.
36 Hence the wail of flutes for Moab is in my heart; for the men of Kir-heres the wail of flutes is in my heart: the wealth they acquired has perished.	36 Per questo il mio cuore darà suono come di tibia per amore di Moab, e per amor di coloro, che abitan dentro le muraglie di matton cotto, il mio cuore darà suono di tibia: son iti in rovina, perchè han fatto più di quel, che potevano:
37 Every head has been made bald, every beard shaved; every hand is gashed, and the loins of all are clothed in sackcloth.	37 Perchè ogni testa sarà senza capelli, e sarà rasa ogni barba; tutte le braccia saran fasciate; e ogni dorso sarà coperto di cilizio.
38 On every roof of Moab and in all his squares there is mourning; I have shattered Moab like a pot that no one wants, says the LORD.	38 Non si sentirà se non gemiti su tutti i tetti di Moab, e pelle sue piazze; perocché io ho spezzato Moab come un vaso non buono a nulla, dice il Signore.
39 How terror seizes Moab, and wailing! How he turns his back in shame! Moab has become a laughingstock and a horror to all his neighbors!	39 Come mai è ella stata vinta, ed ha alzate le strida? Come mai Moab ha gettato giù il capo, ed è confusa? Moab sarà scherno, ed esempio per tutti ne' suoi contorni.
40 For thus says the LORD: Behold, like an eagle he soars, spreads his wings over Moab.	40 Queste cose dice il Signore: Ecco che (il Caldeo) volerà come aquila, e le ali sue stenderà sopra Moab.
41 Cities are taken, strongholds seized: On that day the hearts of Moab's heroes are like the heart of a woman in travail.	41 Carioth è stata espugnata, e i suoi baluardi sono stati superati: e il cuore dei forti di Moab sarà in quel di come il cuore di una donna, che partorisce.
42 Moab shall be destroyed, no more a people, because he boasted against the LORD.	42 E Moab cesserà di essere un popolo; perchè si è insuperbito contro il Signore.
43 Terror, pit, and trap be upon you, people of Moab, says the LORD.	43 La scacciata, la fossa, e il laccio saran per te, o abitatore di Moab, dice il Signore.
44 He who flees from the terror falls into the pit; He who climbs from the pit is caught in the trap; For I will bring these things upon Moab in the year of their punishment, says the LORD.	44 Chi scanserà la scacciata, cadrà nella fossa, e chi uscirà della fossa, sarà preso al laccio: imperocché io farò venire per Moab l'anno di loro visita, dice il Signore.
45 In Heshbon's shadow stop short the exhausted refugees; For fire breaks forth from Heshbon, and a blaze from the house of Sihon: It consumes the brow of Moab, the skull of the noisemakers.	45 Que', che fuggivano il laccio, si posarono all'ombra di Hesebon, ma è uscito fuoco di Hesebon, e una fiamma di mezzo a Sehon, la quale divorerà una parte di Moab, e l'altura de' figliuoli di tumulto.
46 Woe to you, O Moab, you are ruined, O people of Chemosh! Your sons are taken into exile, your daughters into captivity.	46 Guai a te, o Moab, popolo di Chamos tu se' andato in rovina; perocché sono stati portati via i figli tuoi, e le figlie in ischiavitù.
47 But I will change the lot of Moab in the days to come, says the LORD. Thus far the judgment on Moab.	47 Ed io farò ritornare i prigionieri di Moab negli ultimi giorni, dice il Signore. Fin qui il giudizio di Moab.
