The LORD said to Moses,1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:
"Take Aaron and his sons, together with the vestments, the anointing oil, the bullock for a sin offering, the two rams, and the basket of unleavened food.2 Take Aaron, with his sons, their vestments, and the oil of anointing, a calf for sin, two rams, and a basket with unleavened bread,
Then assemble the whole community at the entrance of the meeting tent."3 and gather together all the assembly at the door of the tabernacle.
And Moses did as the LORD had commanded. When the community had assembled at the entrance of the meeting tent,4 And Moses did as the Lord had commanded. And when all the crowd was gathered together before the entrance of the tabernacle,
Moses told them what the LORD had ordered to be done.5 he said: “This is the word that the Lord has ordered to be done.”
Bringing forward Aaron and his sons, he first washed them with water.6 And immediately, he brought forward Aaron and his sons. And when he had washed them,
Then he put the tunic on Aaron, girded him with the sash, clothed him with the robe, placed the ephod on him, and girded him with the embroidered belt of the ephod, fastening it around him.7 he vested the high priest with the linen undergarment, wrapped him with the wide belt, and clothed him with the hyacinth tunic, and over it he imposed the ephod.
He then set the breastpiece on him, with the Urim and Thummim in it,8 And tying it to the belt, he fitted it to the breastplate, on which was Doctrine and Truth.
and put the miter on his head, attaching the gold plate, the sacred diadem, over the front of the miter, at his forehead, as the LORD had commanded him to do.9 Also, he wrapped the headdress on his head, and over it, opposite the forehead, he placed the plate of gold, consecrated with sanctification, just as the Lord had instructed him.
Taking the anointing oil, Moses anointed and consecrated the Dwelling, with all that was in it.10 He also took up the oil of anointing, with which he anointed the tabernacle, along with all of its articles.
Then he sprinkled some of this oil seven times on the altar, and anointed the altar, with all its appurtenances, and the laver, with its base, thus consecrating them.11 And when he had sprinkled the altar seven times to sanctify it, he anointed it and all its vessels. And the washtub with its base he sanctified with the oil.
He also poured some of the anointing oil on Aaron's head, thus consecrating him.12 And pouring the oil over Aaron’s head, he anointed and consecrated him.
Moses likewise brought forward Aaron's sons, clothed them with tunics, girded them with sashes, and put turbans on them, as the LORD had commanded him to do.13 Likewise, after he had offered his sons, he vested them with linen tunics, and wrapped them with wide belts, and placed headdresses on them, just as the Lord had ordered.
When he had brought forward the bullock for a sin offering, Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.14 He also offered the calf for sin. And when Aaron and his sons had placed their hands upon its head,
Then Moses slaughtered it, and taking some of its blood, with his finger he put it on the horns around the altar, thus purifying the altar. He also made atonement for the altar by pouring out the blood at its base when he consecrated it.15 he immolated it. And drawing the blood, and dipping his finger in it, he touched the horns of the altar all around. And when it was expiated and sanctified, he poured out the remainder of the blood at its base.
Taking all the fat that was over the inner organs, as well as the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys with their fat, Moses burned them on the altar.16 Yet truly, the fat which was on the vital organs, and the mesh of the liver, and the two little kidneys with their fat, he burned upon the altar.
The bullock, however, with its hide and flesh and offal he burned in the fire outside the camp, as the LORD had commanded him to do.17 And the calf with the skin, and the flesh, and the dung, he burned beyond the camp, just as the Lord had instructed.
He next brought forward the holocaust ram, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.18 He also offered a ram as a holocaust. And when Aaron and his sons had imposed their hands upon its head,
When he had slaughtered it, Moses splashed its blood on all sides of the altar.19 he immolated it, and he poured out its blood around the altar.
After cutting up the ram into pieces, he burned the head, the cut-up pieces and the suet;20 And cutting the ram into pieces, he burned its head, and the limbs, and the fat in the fire,
then, having washed the inner organs and the shanks with water, he also burned these remaining parts of the ram on the altar as a holocaust, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD, as the LORD had commanded him to do.21 having first washed the intestines and the feet. And then he burned the whole of the ram upon the altar, because it was a holocaust of most sweet odor to the Lord, just as he had instructed him.
Then he brought forward the second ram, the ordination ram, and Aaron and his sons laid their hands on its head.22 He also offered the second ram, as a consecration of priests. And Aaron and his sons placed their hands upon its head.
When he had slaughtered it, Moses took some of its blood and put it on the tip of Aaron's right ear, on the thumb of his right hand, and on the big toe of his right foot.23 And when Moses had immolated it, taking up some of its blood, he touched the tip of Aaron’s right ear, and the thumb of his right hand, and similarly also his foot.
Moses had the sons of Aaron also come forward, and he put some of the blood on the tips of their right ears, on the thumbs of their right hands, and on the big toes of their right feet. The rest of the blood he splashed on the sides of the altar.24 He also offered the sons of Aaron. And when, from the blood of the ram which was immolated, he had touched the tip of the right ear of each one, and the thumbs of their right hands, as well as their feet, he poured out the remainder upon the altar all around.
He then took the fat: the fatty tail and all the fat over the inner organs, the lobe of the liver and the two kidneys with their fat, and likewise the right leg;25 Yet truly, the fat, and the rump, and all the fat that covers the intestines, and the mesh of the liver, and the two kidneys with their fat, and the right shoulder, he separated.
from the basket of unleavened food that was set before the LORD he took one unleavened cake, one loaf of bread made with oil, and one wafer; these he placed on top of the portions of fat and the right leg.26 Then, taking bread without leaven from the basket of unleavened bread, which was before the Lord, and a cake sprinkled with oil, and a wafer, he placed them upon the fat and the right shoulder,
He then put all these things into the hands of Aaron and his sons, whom he had wave them as a wave offering before the LORD.27 delivering all these to Aaron and his sons. And when they had lifted them up in the sight of the Lord,
When he had received them back, Moses burned them with the holocaust on the altar as the ordination offering, a sweet-smelling oblation to the LORD.28 he received them again from their hands, and he burned them upon the altar of holocaust, because it was an oblation of consecration, as a sweet odor of sacrifice to the Lord.
He then took the breast and waved it as a wave offering before the LORD; this was Moses' own portion of the ordination ram. All this was in keeping with the LORD'S command to Moses.29 And he took his portion from the ram of consecration, and he lifted up its breast in the sight of the Lord, just as the Lord had instructed him.
Taking some of the anointing oil and some of the blood that was on the altar, Moses sprinkled with it Aaron and his vestments, as well as his sons and their vestments, thus consecrating both Aaron and his vestments and his sons and their vestments.30 And taking up the ointment, and the blood that was on the altar, he sprinkled it over Aaron and his vestments, and over his sons and their vestments.
Finally, Moses said to Aaron and his sons, "Boil the flesh at the entrance of the meeting tent, and there eat it with the bread that is in the basket of the ordination offering, in keeping with the command I have received: 'Aaron and his sons shall eat of it.'31 And when he had sanctified them with their vestments, he instructed them, saying: “Cook the flesh before the entrance of the tabernacle, and eat it there. Likewise, eat the loaves of consecration, which have been placed in the basket, just as the Lord instructed me, saying: ‘Aaron and his sons shall eat them.’
What is left over of the flesh and the bread you shall burn up in the fire.32 Then whatever will remain of the flesh and the loaves shall be consumed with fire.
Moreover, you are not to depart from the entrance of the meeting tent for seven days, until the days of your ordination are completed; for your ordination is to last for seven days.33 Also, you shall not exit from the door of the tabernacle for seven days, until the day on which the time of your consecration shall be completed. For in seven days the consecration is finished,
The LORD has commanded that what has been done today be done to make atonement for you.34 even as it has begun at this present time, so that the rite of the sacrifice might be accomplished.
Hence you must remain at the entrance of the meeting tent day and night for seven days, carrying out the prescriptions of the LORD; otherwise, you shall die; for this is the command I have received."35 Day and night you shall remain in the tabernacle, observing the watches of the Lord, otherwise you shall die. For so it has been commanded to me.”
So Aaron and his sons did all that the LORD had commanded through Moses.36 And Aaron and his sons did everything that the Lord spoke by the hand of Moses.
