Isaiah 7

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	LXX
1 In the days of Ahaz, king of Judah, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, king of Israel, son of Remaliah, went up to attack Jerusalem, but they were not able to conquer it.	1 και εγενετο εν ταις ημεραις αχαζ του ιωαθαμ του υιου οζιου βασιλεως ιουδα ανεβη ραασσων βασιλευς αραμ και φακεε υιος ρομελιου βασιλευς ισραηλ επι ιερουσαλημ πολεμησαι αυτην και ουκ ηδυνηθησαν πολιορκησαι αυτην
2 When word came to the house of David that Aram was encamped in Ephraim, the heart of the king and heart of the people trembled, as the trees of the forest tremble in the wind.	2 και ανηγγελη εις τον οικον δαυιδ λεγοντες συνεφωνησεν αραμ προς τον εφραιμ και εξεστη η ψυχη αυτου και η ψυχη του λαου αυτου ον τροπον οταν εν δρυμω ξυλον υπο πνευματος σαλευθη
3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller's field,	3 και ειπεν κυριος προς ησαιαν εξελθε εις συναντησιν αχαζ συ και ο καταλειφθεις ιασουβ ο υιος σου προς την κολυμβηθραν της ανω οδου του αγρου του γναφεως
4 and say to him: Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail before these two stumps of smoldering brands (the blazing anger of Rezin and the Arameans, and of the son of Remaliah),	4 και ερεις αυτω φυλαξαι του ησυχασαι και μη φοβου μηδε η ψυχη σου ασθενειτω απο των δυο ξυλων των δαλων των καπνιζομενων τουτων οταν γαρ οργη του θυμου μου γενηται παλιν ιασομαι
5 because of the mischief that Aram (Ephraim and the son of Remaliah) plots against you, saying,	5 και ο υιος του αραμ και ο υιος του ρομελιου οτι εβουλευσαντο βουλην πονηραν περι σου λεγοντες
6 "Let us go up and tear Judah asunder, make it our own by force, and appoint the son of Tabeel king there."	6 αναβησομεθα εις την ιουδαιαν και συλλαλησαντες αυτοις αποστρεψομεν αυτους προς ημας και βασιλευσομεν αυτης τον υιον ταβεηλ
7 Thus says the LORD: This shall not stand, it shall not be!	7 ταδε λεγει κυριος σαβαωθ ου μη εμμεινη η βουλη αυτη ουδε εσται
8 Damascus is the capital of Aram, and Rezin the head of Damascus; Samaria is the capital of Ephraim, and Remaliah's son the head of Samaria.	8 αλλ' η κεφαλη αραμ δαμασκος αλλ' ετι εξηκοντα και πεντε ετων εκλειψει η βασιλεια εφραιμ απο λαου
9 But within sixty years and five, Ephraim shall be crushed, no longer a nation. Unless your faith is firm you shall not be firm!	9 και η κεφαλη εφραιμ σομορων και η κεφαλη σομορων υιος του ρομελιου και εαν μη πιστευσητε ουδε μη συνητε
10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz:	10 και προσεθετο κυριος λαλησαι τω αχαζ λεγων
11 Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky!	11 αιτησαι σεαυτω σημειον παρα κυριου θεου σου εις βαθος η εις υψος
12 But Ahaz answered, "I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!"	12 και ειπεν αχαζ ου μη αιτησω ουδ' ου μη πειρασω κυριον
13 Then he said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary men, must you also weary my God?	13 και ειπεν ακουσατε δη οικος δαυιδ μη μικρον υμιν αγωνα παρεχειν ανθρωποις και πως κυριω παρεχετε αγωνα
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.	14 δια τουτο δωσει κυριος αυτος υμιν σημειον ιδου η παρθενος εν γαστρι εξει και τεξεται υιον και καλεσεις το ονομα αυτου εμμανουηλ
15 He shall be living on curds and honey by the time he learns to reject the bad and choose the good.	15 βουτυρον και μελι φαγεται πριν η γνωναι αυτον η προελεσθαι πονηρα εκλεξεται το αγαθον
16 For before the child learns to reject the bad and choose the good, the land of those two kings whom you dread shall be deserted.	16 διοτι πριν η γνωναι το παιδιον αγαθον η κακον απειθει πονηρια του εκλεξασθαι το αγαθον και καταλειφθησεται η γη ην συ φοβη απο προσωπου των δυο βασιλεων
17 The LORD shall bring upon you and your people and your father's house days worse than any since Ephraim seceded from Judah. (This means the king of Assyria.)	17 αλλα επαξει ο θεος επι σε και επι τον λαον σου και επι τον οικον του πατρος σου ημερας αι ουπω ηκασιν αφ' ης ημερας αφειλεν εφραιμ απο ιουδα τον βασιλεα των ασσυριων
18 On that day The LORD shall whistle for the fly that is in the farthest streams of Egypt, and for the bee in the land of Assyria.	18 και εσται εν τη ημερα εκεινη συριει κυριος μυιαις ο κυριευει μερους ποταμου αιγυπτου και τη μελισση η εστιν εν χωρα ασσυριων
19 All of them shall come and settle in the steep ravines and in the rocky clefts, on all thornbushes and in all pastures.	19 και ελευσονται παντες και αναπαυσονται εν ταις φαραγξι της χωρας και εν ταις τρωγλαις των πετρων και εις τα σπηλαια και εις πασαν ραγαδα και εν παντι ξυλω
20 On that day the LORD shall shave with the razor hired from across the River (with the king of Assyria) the head, and the hair between the legs. It shall also shave off the beard.	20 εν τη ημερα εκεινη ξυρησει κυριος τω ξυρω τω μεγαλω και μεμεθυσμενω ο εστιν περαν του ποταμου βασιλεως ασσυριων την κεφαλην και τας τριχας των ποδων και τον πωγωνα αφελει
21 On that day a man shall keep a heifer or a couple of sheep,	21 και εσται εν τη ημερα εκεινη θρεψει ανθρωπος δαμαλιν βοων και δυο προβατα
22 and from their abundant yield of milk he shall live on curds; curds and honey shall be the food of all who remain in the land.	22 και εσται απο του πλειστον ποιειν γαλα βουτυρον και μελι φαγεται πας ο καταλειφθεις επι της γης
23 On that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand pieces of silver, shall be turned to briers and thorns.	23 και εσται εν τη ημερα εκεινη πας τοπος ου εαν ωσιν χιλιαι αμπελοι χιλιων σικλων εις χερσον εσονται και εις ακανθαν
24 Men shall go there with bow and arrows; for all the country shall be briers and thorns.	24 μετα βελους και τοξευματος εισελευσονται εκει οτι χερσος και ακανθα εσται πασα η γη
25 For fear of briers and thorns you shall not go upon any mountainside which used to be hoed with the mattock; they shall be grazing land for cattle and shall be trampled upon by sheep.	25 και παν ορος αροτριωμενον αροτριαθησεται και ου μη επελθη εκει φοβος εσται γαρ απο της χερσου και ακανθης εις βοσκημα προβατου και εις καταπατημα βοος
