Isaiah 7

1 In the days of Ahaz, king of Judah, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, king of Israel, son of Remaliah, went up to attack Jerusalem, but they were not able to conquer it.	1 En tiempo de Ajaz, hijo de Jotam, hijo de Ozías, rey de Judá, subió Rasón, rey de Aram, con Pécaj, hijo de Remalías, rey de Israel, a Jerusalén para atacarla, más no pudieron hacerlo.
2 When word came to the house of David that Aram was encamped in Ephraim, the heart of the king and heart of the people trembled, as the trees of the forest tremble in the wind.	2 La casa de David había recibido este aviso: «Aram se ha unido con Efraím», y se estremeció el corazón del rey y el corazón de su pueblo, como se estremecen los árboles del bosque por el viento.
3 Then the LORD said to Isaiah: Go out to meet Ahaz, you and your son Shear-jashub, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool, on the highway of the fuller's field,	3 Entonces Yahveh dijo a Isaías: «Ea, sal con tu hijo Sear Yasub al final del caño de la alberca superior, por la calzada del campo del Batanero, al encuentro de Ajaz,
4 and say to him: Take care you remain tranquil and do not fear; let not your courage fail before these two stumps of smoldering brands (the blazing anger of Rezin and the Arameans, and of the son of Remaliah),	4 y dile: «¡Alerta, pero ten calma! No temas, ni desmaye tu corazón por ese par de cabos de tizones humeantes,
5 because of the mischief that Aram (Ephraim and the son of Remaliah) plots against you, saying,	5 ya que Aram, Efraím y el hijo de Remalías han maquinado tu ruina diciendo:
6 "Let us go up and tear Judah asunder, make it our own by force, and appoint the son of Tabeel king there."	6 Subamos contra Judá y desmembrémoslo, abramos brecha en él y pongamos allí por rey al hijo de Tabel.”
7 Thus says the LORD: This shall not stand, it shall not be!	7 Así ha dicho el Señor Yahveh: No se mantendrá, ni será así;
8 Damascus is the capital of Aram, and Rezin the head of Damascus; Samaria is the capital of Ephraim, and Remaliah's son the head of Samaria.	8 porque la capital de Aram es Damasco, y el cabeza de Damasco, Rasón; Pues bien: dentro de sesenta y cinco años, Efraím dejará de ser pueblo.
9 But within sixty years and five, Ephraim shall be crushed, no longer a nation. Unless your faith is firm you shall not be firm!	9 La capital de Efraím es Samaría, y el cabeza de Samaría, el hijo de Remalías. Si no os afirmáis en mí no seréis firmes».
10 Again the LORD spoke to Ahaz:	10 Volvió Yahveh a hablar a Ajaz diciendo:
11 Ask for a sign from the LORD, your God; let it be deep as the nether world, or high as the sky!	11 «Pide para ti una señal de Yahveh tu Dios en lo profundo del seol o en lo más alto».
12 But Ahaz answered, "I will not ask! I will not tempt the LORD!"	12 Dijo Ajaz: «No la pediré, no tentaré a Yahveh».
13 Then he said: Listen, O house of David! Is it not enough for you to weary men, must you also weary my God?	13 Dijo Isaías: «Oíd, pues, casa de David: ¿Os parece poco cansar a los hombres, que cansáis también a mi Dios?
14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you this sign: the virgin shall be with child, and bear a son, and shall name him Immanuel.	14 Pues bien, el Señor mismo va a daros una señal: He aquí que una doncella está encinta y va a dar a luz un hijo, y le pondrá por nombre Emmanuel.
15 He shall be living on curds and honey by the time he learns to reject the bad and choose the good.	15 Cuajada y miel comerá hasta que sepa rehusar lo malo y elegir lo bueno.
16 For before the child learns to reject the bad and choose the good, the land of those two kings whom you dread shall be deserted.	16 Porque antes que sepa el niño rehusar lo malo y elegir lo bueno, será abandonado el territorio cuyos dos reyes te dan miedo.
17 The LORD shall bring upon you and your people and your father's house days worse than any since Ephraim seceded from Judah. (This means the king of Assyria.)	17 Yahveh atraerá sobre ti y sobre tu pueblo y sobre la casa de tu padre, días cuales no los hubo desde aquel en que se apartó Efraím de Judá (el rey de Asur).
18 On that day The LORD shall whistle for the fly that is in the farthest streams of Egypt, and for the bee in the land of Assyria.	18 Aquel día silbará Yahveh al enjambre que hay en los confines de los ríos de Egipto, y a las abejas que hay en tierra de Asur;
19 All of them shall come and settle in the steep ravines and in the rocky clefts, on all thornbushes and in all pastures.	19 vendrán y se posarán todas ellas en las quebradas, en los resquicios de las peñas, en todas las corrientes y en todos los arroyos.
20 On that day the LORD shall shave with the razor hired from across the River (with the king of Assyria) the head, and the hair between the legs. It shall also shave off the beard.	20 Aquel día repará el Señor con navaja alquilada allende el Río, con el rey de Asur, la cabeza y el vello de las piernas y también la barba afeitará,
21 On that day a man shall keep a heifer or a couple of sheep,	21 Aquel día criará cada uno una novilla y un par de ovejas.
22 and from their abundant yield of milk he shall live on curds; curds and honey shall be the food of all who remain in the land.	22 Y así de tanto dar leche, comerá cuajada, porque «cuajada y miel comerá todo el que quedare dentro del país».
23 On that day every place where there used to be a thousand vines, worth a thousand pieces of silver, shall be turned to briers and thorns.	23 Aquel día, cualquier lugar donde antes hubo mil cepas por valor de mil piezas de plata, será de la zarza y el abrojo.
24 Men shall go there with bow and arrows; for all the country shall be briers and thorns.	24 Con flechas y arco se entrará allí, pues zarza y abrojo será toda la tierra,
25 For fear of briers and thorns you shall not go upon any mountainside which used to be hoed with the mattock; they shall be grazing land for cattle and shall be trampled upon by sheep.	25 y en ninguno de los montes que se desbrozan con la azada se podrá entrar por temor de las zarzas y abrojos; será dehesa de bueyes y pastizal de ovejas».
