NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
1 Lo, the hand of the LORD is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear.1 Ecce non est abbreviata manus Domini,
ut salvare nequeat,
neque aggravata est auris eius,
ut non exaudiat;
2 Rather, it is your crimes that separate you from your God, It is your sins that make him hide his face so that he will not hear you.2 sed iniquitates vestrae diviserunt
inter vos et Deum vestrum,
et peccata vestra absconderunt faciem eius
a vobis, ne exaudiret.
3 For your hands are stained with blood, your fingers with guilt; Your lips speak falsehood, and your tongue utters deceit.3 Manus enim vestrae pollutae sunt sanguine,
et digiti vestri iniquitate;
labia vestra locuta sunt mendacium,
et lingua vestra iniquitatem fatur.
4 No one brings suit justly, no one pleads truthfully; They trust in emptiness and tell lies; they conceive mischief and bring forth malice.4 Non est qui invocet iustitiam,
neque est qui iudicet vere;
confidunt in nihilo et loquuntur vanitates:
conceperunt laborem et pepererunt iniquitatem.
5 They hatch adders' eggs, and weave spiders' webs: Whoever eats their eggs will die, if one of them is pressed, it will hatch as a viper;5 Ova aspidum rumpunt
et telas araneae texunt;
qui comederit de ovis eorum, morietur,
et, quod fractum est, erumpet in regulum.
6 Their webs cannot serve as clothing, nor can they cover themselves with their works. Their works are evil works, and deeds of violence come from their hands.6 Telae eorum non erunt in vestimentum,
neque operientur operibus suis;
opera eorum opera iniquitatis,
et facinora violentiae in manibus eorum.
7 Their feet run to evil, and they are quick to shed innocent blood; Their thoughts are destructive thoughts, plunder and ruin are on their highways.7 Pedes eorum ad malum currunt
et festinant, ut effundant sanguinem innocentem;
cogitationes eorum cogitationes iniquitatis,
vastitas et contritio in viis eorum.
8 The way of peace they know not, and there is nothing that is right in their paths; Their ways they have made crooked, whoever treads them knows no peace.8 Viam pacis nescierunt,
et non est iudicium in gressibus eorum;
semitae eorum incurvatae sunt eis:
omnis, qui calcat in eis, ignorat pacem.
9 That is why right is far from us and justice does not reach us. We look for light, and lo, darkness; for brightness, but we walk in gloom!9 Propter hoc elongatum est iudicium a nobis,
et non apprehendit nos iustitia;
exspectamus lucem, et ecce tenebrae,
splendorem, et in caligine ambulamus.
10 Like blind men we grope along the wall, like people without eyes we feel our way. We stumble at midday as at dusk, in Stygian darkness, like the dead.10 Palpamus sicut caeci parietem
et quasi absque oculis attrectamus;
impegimus meridie quasi in crepusculo,
inter sanos quasi mortui.
11 We all growl like bears, like doves we moan without ceasing. We look for right, but it is not there; for salvation, and it is far from us.11 Rugimus quasi ursi omnes
et quasi columbae gementes gemimus;
exspectamus iudicium, et non est,
salutem, et elongata est a nobis.
12 For our offenses before you are many, our sins bear witness against us. Yes, our offenses are present to us, and our crimes we know:12 Multiplicatae sunt enim iniquitates nostrae coram te,
et peccata nostra respondent nobis;
quia scelera nostra nobiscum,
et iniquitates nostras cognovimus:
13 Transgressing, and denying the LORD, turning back from following our God, Threatening outrage, and apostasy, uttering words of falsehood the heart has conceived.13 peccare et mentiri contra Dominum
et recedere a Deo nostro,
loqui violentiam et transgressionem,
concipere et murmurare de corde verba mendacii.
14 Right is repelled, and justice stands far off; For truth stumbles in the public square, uprightness cannot enter.14 Et conversum est retrorsum iudicium,
et iustitia longe stat,
quia corruit in platea veritas,
et aequitas non potuit ingredi.
15 Honesty is lacking, and the man who turns from evil is despoiled. The LORD saw this, and was aggrieved that right did not exist.15 Et facta est veritas in oblivionem,
et, qui recedit a malo, spoliatur.
Et vidit Dominus, et malum apparuit in oculis eius,
quia non est iudicium.
16 He saw that there was no one, and was appalled that there was none to intervene; So his own arm brought about the victory, and his justice lent him its support.16 Et vidit quia non est vir,
et aporiatus est, quia non est qui occurrat;
et salvavit sibi brachium suum,
et iustitia eius ipsa confirmavit eum.
17 He put on justice as his breastplate, salvation, as the helmet on his head; He clothed himself with garments of vengeance, wrapped himself in a mantle of zeal.17 Indutus est iustitia ut lorica,
et galea salutis in capite eius;
indutus est vestimentis ultionis
et operuit se zelo quasi pallio.
18 He repays his enemies their deserts, and requites his foes with wrath.18 Secundum opera sic retribuet:
iram hostibus suis,
retributionem inimicis suis,
insulis vicem reddet.
19 Those in the west shall fear the name of the LORD, and those in the east, his glory; For it shall come like a pent-up river which the breath of the LORD drives on.19 Et timebunt, qui ab occidente, nomen Domini,
et, qui ab ortu solis, gloriam eius,
cum venerit quasi fluvius violentus,
quem spiritus Domini cogit.
20 He shall come to Zion a redeemer to those of Jacob who turn from sin, says the LORD.20 Et veniet pro Sion redemptor
et eis, qui redeunt ab iniquitate in Iacob,
dixit Dominus.
21 This is the covenant with them which I myself have made, says the LORD: My spirit which is upon you and my words that I have put into your mouth Shall never leave your mouth, nor the mouths of your children Nor the mouths of your children's children from now on and forever, says the LORD.21 Hoc foedus meum cum eis,
dixit Dominus:
“ Spiritus meus, qui est super te,
et verba mea, quae posui in ore tuo,
non recedent de ore tuo
et de ore seminis tui
et de ore seminis seminis tui,
dixit Dominus, amodo et usque in sempiternum ”.
