1 Hear then, O Jacob, my servant, Israel, whom I have chosen.	1 Adessi ascolta, o Giacobbe mio servo, e tu, o Israele eletto mio:
2 Thus says the LORD who made you, your help, who formed you from the womb: Fear not, O Jacob, my servant, the darling whom I have chosen.	2 Queste cose, dice il Signore, che ti ha fatto, e ti ha formato, tuo aiutatore dal seno della madre: non temere, Giacobbe mio servo, e tu, o rettissimo, cui io elessi;
3 I will pour out water upon the thirsty ground, and streams upon the dry land; I will pour out my spirit upon your offspring, and my blessing upon your descendants.	3 Perocché io spanderò acque sopra la terra sitibonda, e fiumane sopra la terra arida: spanderò lo spirito mio sopra la tua discendenza, e la benedizione mia sopra la tua stirpe.
4 They shall spring up amid the verdure like poplars beside the flowing waters.	4 E germineranno come i salci presso le acque correnti tralle erbette.
5 One shall say, "I am the LORD'S," another shall be named after Jacob, And this one shall write on his hand, "The LORD'S," and Israel shall be his surname.	5 Questi dirà: Del Signore son io: e quegli si darà il nome di Giacobbe; e l'altro scriverà sulla sua mano: Sono del Signore: e avrà nome simile a Israele.
6 Thus says the LORD, Israel's King and redeemer, the LORD of hosts: I am the first and I am the last; there is no God but me.	6 Queste cose dice il Signore Re d'Israele, e il suo Redentore il Signor degli eserciti: Io il primo, ed io l'ultimo, e non è Dio fuori di me.
7 Who is like me? Let him stand up and speak, make it evident, and confront me with it. Who of old announced future events? Let them foretell to us the things to come.	7 Chi è simile a me? Si dichiari, e si spieghi, ed esponga a me l'ordine delle cose dal tempo, in cui fondai l'antica gente: e le cose imminenti, e le e future annunzino ad essi.
8 Fear not, be not troubled: did I not announce and foretell it long ago? You are my witnesses! Is there a God or any Rock besides me?	8 Non temete, non vi turbate: ab antico io le feci sapere a te, e le predissi: voi siete a me testimoni; v'ha egli Dio fuori di me, e faccitore, che siami ignoto?
9 Idol makers all amount to nothing, and their precious works are of no avail, as they themselves give witness. To their shame, they neither see nor know anything; and they are more deaf than men are.	9 I fabbricatori degl'idoli son tutti un niente, e queste cose, che più amano, non saran loro di alcun giovamento. Eglino per lor confusione son testimonj, come per lor vergogna quegli né veggono, né intendono.
10 Indeed, all the associates of anyone who forms a god, or casts an idol to no purpose, will be put to shame;	10 Chi ardi di formare un Dio, e gettò una statua buona a nulla?
11 they will all assemble and stand forth, to be reduced to fear and shame.	11 Ecco, che tutti coloro, che a ciò hanno parte, saranno confusi: perocché questi sono artigiani uomini: si adunino tutti quanti, e si presentino, e tremeranno, e saran tutti svergognati.
12 The smith fashions an iron image, works it over the coals, shapes it with hammers, and forges it with his strong arm. He is hungry and weak, drinks no water and becomes exhausted.	12 Il fabbro opera colla lima; col fuoco, e col martello forma l'idolo, lavorando a gran forza di braccia; e patirà la fame, e verrà meno, e spossato non anelerà a ber acqua.
13 The carpenter stretches a line and marks with a stylus the outline of an idol. He shapes it with a plane and measures it off with a compass, making it like a man in appearance and dignity, to occupy a shrine.	13 Lo scultore in legno stende la sua regola, formai l'idolo collo scalpello, lo dirizza a squadra, gli dà il suo contorno, e fa l'immagine di un uomo, com' uomo di bell'aspetto, che risegga in un tempio.
14 He cuts down cedars, takes a holm or an oak, and lays hold of other trees of the forest, which the Lord had planted and the rain made grow	14 Tronca i cedri, porta via il leccio, e la quercia invecchiata tralle piante della foresta; e pianta un pino, che si fa rigoglioso mediante la pioggia.
15 to serve man for fuel. With a part of their wood he warms himself, or makes a fire for baking bread; but with another part he makes a god which he adores, an idol which he worships.	15 E gli uomini se ne servono per bruciare: egli ne prende, e si scalda; e col fuoco che ne fa, cuoce il pane: di quello poi, che rimane compone un Dio, e l'adora: ne fa un simolacro, e dinanzi a lui s'inginocchia.
16 Half of it he burns in the fire, and on its embers he roasts his meat; he eats what he has roasted until he is full, and then warms himself and says, "Ah! I am warm, I feel the fire."	16 E una metà la consumò a far fuoco, e coll'altra metà fé cuocere la carne per mangiare; e si saziò, e si riscaldò, e disse: bene sta, mi son riscaldato, ho visto il fuoco.
17 Of what remains he makes a god, his idol, and prostrate before it in worship, he implores it, "Rescue me, for you are my god."	17 Di quello poi, che avanzò se ne fece egli un Dio, e una statua: si incurva dinanzi ad essa, e l'adora, e la prega, dicendo: Salvami, tu se' il mio Dio.
18 The idols have neither knowledge nor reason; their eyes are coated so that they cannot see, and their hearts so that they cannot understand.	18 Sono ignoranti, sono senza intelletto: sono inverniciati gli occhi loro, affinchè non veggano, e col loro cuor non intendano.
19 Yet he does not reflect, nor have the intelligence and sense to say, "Half of the wood I burned in the fire, and on its embers I baked bread and roasted meat which I ate. Shall I then make an abomination out of the rest, or worship a block of wood?"	19 Non ripensano colla loro mente, né comprendono, né hanno senso per dire: Della metà ne feci fuoco, e su' suoi carboni cossi il pane; cossi le carni, e mangiai, e di quel, che resta ne farò un idolo? Mi prostrerò davanti ad un pezzo di legno?
20 He is chasing ashes-a thing that cannot save itself when the flame consumes it; yet he does not say, "Is not this thing in my right hand a fraud?"	20 Una parte di esso è cenere; un cuore stolto lo adora, e non illumina sestesso con dire: Forse l'opera della mia destra è menzogna.
21 Remember this, O Jacob, you, O Israel, who are my servant! I formed you to be a servant to me; O Israel, by me you shall never be forgotten:	21 Ricorditi di tali cose, o Giacobbe, e tu Israele: perocché tu se' mio servo. Io ti formai: servo mio tu se', o Israele, non iscordarti di me.
22 I have brushed away your offenses like a cloud, your sins like a mist; return to me, for I have redeemed you.	22 Ho sciolte qual nuvola le tue iniquità, e qual nebbia i tuoi peccati; ritorna a me, perch'io t'ho redento.
23 Raise a glad cry, you heavens: the LORD has done this; shout, you depths of the earth. Break forth, you mountains, into song, you forest, with all your trees. For the LORD has redeemed Jacob, and shows his glory through Israel.	23 Cantate laude, o cieli; perocché il Signore ha fatto misericordia: giubilate, estreme parti della terra, monti, selve, e piante tutte risuonate di canzoni di laude: perchè il Signore ha riscattato Giacobbe, e sarà esaltato in Israele.
24 Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, who formed you from the womb: I am the LORD, who made all things, who alone stretched out the heavens; when I spread out the earth, who was with me?	24 Queste cose dice il Signore redentor tuo, che ti formò nel sen della madre: Io sono il Signore, che fo tutte le cose; che solo distendo i cieli, e fondo la terra, e nissuno è con me.
25 It is I who bring to nought the omens of liars, who make fools of diviners; I turn wise men back and make their knowledge foolish.	25 Io, che vani rendo i presagi degl'indovini, e tolgo il senno agli astrologi: e fo cadere all'indietro i sapienti, e la loro scienza fo divenire stoltezza.
26 It is I who confirm the words of my servants, I carry out the plan announced by my messengers; I say to Jerusalem: Be inhabited; to the cities of Judah: Be rebuilt; I will raise up their ruins.	26 Io son colui, che riduce ad effetto la parola del suo servo, e adempie gli oracoli de' suoi nunzj. Io, che dico a Gerusalemme: Tu sarai abitata; e alle città di Giuda: Voi sarete ristorate, e renderò vita a' vostri deserti.
27 It is I who said to the deep: Be dry; I will dry up your wellsprings.	27 Io, che dico all'abisso: Asciugati, e io farò seccare le tue correnti.
28 I say of Cyrus: My shepherd, who fulfills my every wish; He shall say of Jerusalem, "Let her be rebuilt," and of the temple, "Let its foundations be laid."	28 Io, che dico a Ciro: Tu se' il mio pastore, tu adempirai tutti i miei voleri. Io, che dico a Gerusalemme: Tu sarai riedificata: e al tempio: Tu sarai rifabbricato.
