Proverbs 1

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	Biblia Matos Soares
1 The Proverbs of Solomon, the son of David, king of Israel:	1 Provérbios de Salomão, filho de Davide, rei de Israel,
2 That men may appreciate wisdom and discipline, may understand words of intelligence;	2 para aprender a sabedoria e disciplina;
3 May receive training in wise conduct, in what is right, just and honest;	3 para compreender as palavras,da prudência, receber a instrução da (boa) doutrina, a justiça, a rectidão e a equidade;
4 That resourcefulness may be imparted to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion.	4 para dar aos inexperientes o discernimento, e ao jovem conhecimento e reflexão. O sábio. ouvindo (estas sentenças), ficará mais sábio, e o que as entender adquirirá destreza
5 A wise man by hearing them will advance in learning, an intelligent man will gain sound guidance,
6 That he may comprehend proverb and parable, the words of the wise and their riddles.	6 para compreender as sentenças e as palavras subtis, as máximas dos sábios e os seus enigmas.
7 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge; wisdom and instruction fools despise.	7 O temor do Senhor é o principio da sabedoria. Os insensatos desprezam a sabedoria e a doutrina.
8 Hear, my son, your father's instruction, and reject not your mother's teaching;	8 Ouve, meu filho, as instruções de teu pai, e não abandones os ensinamentos de tua mãe.
9 A graceful diadem will they be for your head; a torque for your neck.	9 Isso será uma coroa de graça para a tua cabeça, e um colar para o teu pescoço.
10 My son, should sinners entice you,	10 Meu filho, se os pecadores te atraírem com os seus afagos, não condescendas com eles.
11 and say, "Come along with us! Let us lie in wait for the honest man, let us, unprovoked, set a trap for the innocent;	11 Se te disserem: Vem connosco, façamos emboscadas para derramar sangue, armemos laços ocultos ao inocente, que nos não fez mal algum;
12 Let us swallow them up, as the nether world does, alive, in the prime of life, like those who go down to the pit!	12 devoremo-lo vivo como o sepulcro _(devora os cadáveres), e inteiro como aquele que desce à cova;
13 All kinds of precious wealth shall we gain, we shall fill our houses with booty;	13 acharemos toda a sorte de bens preciosos, encheremos as nossas casas de despojos:
14 Cast in your lot with us, we shall all have one purse!"--	14 une a tua sorte à nossa, seja uma só a bolsa de nós todos;
15 My son, walk not in the way with them, hold back your foot from their path!	15 meu filho, não vás com eles, guarda-te de andares pelas suas veredas;
16 (For their feet run to evil, they hasten to shed blood.)	16 porque os seus pés correm para o mal, e apressam-se a derramar sangue.
17 It is in vain that a net is spread before the eyes of any bird--	17 Mas debalde se lança a rede diante dos olhos dos que têm asas.
18 These men lie in wait for their own blood, they set a trap for their own lives.	18 Eles mesmos (com isto) armam traições contra o seu próprio sangue, e tramam enganos contra as suas almas.
19 This is the fate of everyone greedy of loot: unlawful gain takes away the life of him who acquires it.	19 Tais são os caminhos de todos os ávidos de riqueza: (estes caminhos) perdem as almas daqueles que os seguem.
20 Wisdom cries aloud in the street, in the open squares she raises her voice;	20 A sabedoria clama em público, nas praças levanta a sua voz.
21 Down the crowded ways she calls out, at the city gates she utters her words:	21 Ela grita nas encruzilhadas, faz ouvir as suas palavras á entrada das portas da cidade, dizendo:
22 "How long, you simple ones, will you love inanity,	22 Até quando amareis, ó crianças, a infantilidade? (Até quando é que)os insensatos cobiçarão as coisas que lhes são nocivas. e os imprudentes odiarão a Instrução?
23 how long will you turn away at my reproof? Lo! I will pour out to you my spirit, I will acquaint you with my words.	23 Convertei-vos com u minha repreensão; eu vou espalhar sobre vós o meu espírito, eu vou ensinar-vos a minha doutrina.
24 "Because I called and you refused, I extended my hand and no one took notice;	24 Mas, visto que eu vos chamei, e vós não quisestes ouvir-me, visto que estendi a minha mão, e não houve quem olhasse para mim, visto que desprezastes todos os meus conselhos, e não fizestes caso das minhas repreensões,
25 Because you disdained all my counsel, and my reproof you ignored--
26 I, in my turn, will laugh at your doom; I will mock when terror overtakes you;	26 também eu me rirei da vossa ruina, zombarei de vós; quando vos assaltar o terror, quando cair sobre vós, como furacão, o terror, quando vos colher a desgraça como um temporal, quando vierem sobre vós a tribulação e a angústia
27 When terror comes upon you like a storm, and your doom approaches like a whirlwind; when distress and anguish befall you.
28 "Then they call me, but I answer not; they seek me, but find me not;	28 Então me Invocarão (os impios) e eu não os ouvirei, buscar-me-ão, e não me encontrarão,
29 Because they hated knowledge, and chose not the fear of the LORD;	29 porque eles aborreceram a instrução, não abraçaram o temor do Senhor,
30 They ignored my counsel, they spurned all my reproof; And in their arrogance they preferred arrogance, and like fools they hated knowledge:	30 não se submeteram ao meu conselho, e desprezaram todas as minhas repreensões.
31 "Now they must eat the fruit of their own way, and with their own devices be glutted.	31 Comerão, pois, os frutos do seu (mau) proceder, e fartar-se-ão dos seus conselhos.
32 For the self-will of the simple kills them, the smugness of fools destroys them.	32 O desvio dos parvos os matará, e a (falsa) prosperidade dos insensatos os perderá.
33 But he who obeys me dwells in security, in peace, without fear of harm."	33 Mas aquele que me ouvir, viverá tranqüilo, em segurança, sem receio de mal algum.
