NEW AMERICAN BIBLENEW JERUSALEM
A maskil of David, when he was in the cave. A prayer.1 [Psalm Of David When he was in the cave Prayer] To Yahweh I cry out with my plea. To Yahweh Icry out with entreaty.
With full voice I cry to the LORD; with full voice I beseech the LORD.2 I pour out my worry in his presence, in his presence I unfold my troubles.
Before God I pour out my complaint, lay bare my distress.3 However faint my spirit; you are watching over my path. On the road I have to travel they havehidden a trap for me.
My spirit is faint within me, but you know my path. Along the way I walk they have hidden a trap for me.4 Look on my right and see -- there is no one who recognises me. Al refuge is denied me, no onecares whether I live or die.
I look to my right hand, but no friend is there. There is no escape for me; no one cares for me.5 I cry out to you, Yahweh, I affirm, 'You are my refuge, my share in the land of the living!'
I cry out to you, LORD, I say, You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.6 Listen to my cal ing, for I am miserably weak. Rescue me from my persecutors, for they are toostrong for me.
Listen to my cry for help, for I am brought very low. Rescue me from my pursuers, for they are too strong for me.7 Lead me out of prison that I may praise your name. The upright gather round me because of yourgenerosity to me.
Lead me out of my prison, that I may give thanks to your name. Then the just shall gather around me because you have been good to me.
