Tobit 13

1 Then Tobit composed this joyful prayer: Blessed be God who lives forever, because his kingdom lasts for all ages.	1 E Tobi disse:
2 For he scourges and then has mercy; he casts down to the depths of the nether world, and he brings up from the great abyss. No one can escape his hand.	2 "Benedetto sia Dio che vive in eterno, il suo regno dura per tutti i secoli. Egli castiga e usa misericordia, fa scendere fino all'abisso più profondo della terra e fa risalire dalla grande perdizione, non c'è nulla che sfugga alla sua mano.
3 Praise him, you Israelites, before the Gentiles, for though he has scattered you among them,	3 Celebratelo, Israeliti, davanti alle nazioni, perché egli vi ha dispersi in mezzo ad esse,
4 he has shown you his greatness even there. Exalt him before every living being, because he is the Lord our God, our Father and God forever.	4 e qui vi ha fatto vedere la sua grandezza. Esaltatelo davanti ad ogni vivente, perché egli è il nostro Signore, il nostro Dio, egli è il nostro Padre, il Dio per tutti i secoli.
5 He scourged you for your iniquities, but will again have mercy on you all. He will gather you from all the Gentiles among whom you have been scattered.	5 Vi castiga a causa delle vostre iniquità, ma avrà pietà di tutti voi in mezzo a tutte le nazioni, fra le quali siete stati dispersi.
6 When you turn back to him with all your heart, to do what is right before him, Then he will turn back to you, and no longer hide his face from you. So now consider what he has done for you, and praise him with full voice. Bless the Lord of righteousness, and exalt the King of the ages. In the land of my exile I praise him, and show his power and majesty to a sinful nation. "Turn back, you sinners! do the right before him: perhaps he may look with favor upon you and show you mercy.	6 Quando vi sarete convertiti a lui, con tutto il vostro cuore e con tutta l'anima per essere sinceri con lui, allora egli si volgerà verso di voi e non vi nasconderà più il volto.
7 "As for me, I exalt my God, and my spirit rejoices in the King of heaven.	7 Ora considerate ciò che ha operato per voi e celebratelo a piena voce. Benedite il Signore della giustizia ed esaltate il Re dei secoli.
8 Let all men speak of his majesty, and sing his praises in Jerusalem."	8 Io lo celebro nel mio paese di esilio e annuncio la sua potenza e grandezza a un popolo di peccatori. Convertitevi, o peccatori, e operate rettamente in sua presenza. Chissà che non torni ad amarvi e a farvi misericordia.
9 O Jerusalem, holy city, he scourged you for the works of your hands, but will again pity the children of the righteous.	9 Esalto il mio Dio e celebro il Re del cielo ed esulto per la sua grandezza.
10 Praise the Lord for his goodness, and bless the King of the ages, so that his tent may be rebuilt in you with joy. May he gladden within you all who were captives; all who were ravaged may he cherish within you for all generations to come.	10 Che tutti lo lodino e gli rendano grazie in Gerusalemme. Gerusalemme, città santa, Dio ti castigò a causa delle opere dei tuoi figli, ma avrà di nuovo pietà dei figli dei giusti.
11 A bright light will shine to all parts of the earth; many nations shall come to you from afar, And the inhabitants of all the limits of the earth, drawn to you by the name of the Lord God, Bearing in their hands their gifts for the King of heaven. Every generation shall give joyful praise in you, and shall call you the chosen one, through all ages forever.	11 Da' lode al Signore degnamente e benedici il Re dei secoli; il tuo tempio ti sia ricostruito con gioia,
12 Accursed are all who speak a harsh word against you; accursed are all who destroy you and pull down your walls, And all who overthrow your towers and set fire to your homes; but forever blessed are all those who build you up.	12 così che si allietino in te tutti i deportati, e siano amati in te tutti gli sventurati per tutte le generazioni dei secoli.
13 Go, then, rejoice over the children of the righteous, who shall all be gathered together and shall bless the Lord of the ages.	13 Una luce risplendente brillerà in tutte le regioni della terra. Nazioni numerose verranno a te da lontano, e gli abitanti di tutti i confini della terra verranno verso la dimora del tuo santo nome, portando in mano i doni per il Re del cielo. Generazioni senza fine esprimeranno in te l'esultanza e il nome della città eletta durerà per sempre.
14 Happy are those who love you, and happy those who rejoice in your prosperity. Happy are all the men who shall grieve over you, over all your chastisements, For they shall rejoice in you as they behold all your joy forever.	14 Maledetti coloro che ti insultano, maledetti saranno quanti ti distruggono, demoliscono le tue mura, rovinano le tue torri e incendiano le tue abitazioni. Ma benedetti per sempre coloro che ti temono.
15 My spirit blesses the Lord, the great King;	15 Sorgi, allora, ed esulta a causa dei figli dei giusti, perché tutti si raduneranno e benediranno il Signore dei secoli. Beati coloro che ti amano! Beati coloro che gioiscono per la tua prosperità!
16 Jerusalem shall be rebuilt as his home forever. Happy for me if a remnant of my offspring survive to see your glory and to praise the King of heaven! The gates of Jerusalem shall be built with sapphire and emerald, and all your walls with precious stones. The towers of Jerusalem shall be built with gold, and their battlements with pure gold.	16 Beati tutti quelli che avranno fatto lutto per te a causa di tutte le tue prove, perché gioiranno per te, vedendo tutta la tua gioia per sempre. Anima mia, benedici il Signore, il gran Re,
17 The streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with rubies and stones of Ophir;	17 perché Gerusalemme sarà ricostruita e nella città il suo tempio durerà per sempre. Beato sarò io, se rimane qualcuno della mia discendenza per vedere la tua gloria e celebrare il Re del cielo. Le porte di Gerusalemme saranno ricostruite con zaffiro e smeraldo, e tutte le sue mura con pietre preziose. Le torri di Gerusalemme saranno costruite con oro e i suoi baluardi con oro finissimo. Le piazze di Gerusalemme saranno lastricate con turchese e pietre di Ofir.
18 The gates of Jerusalem shall sing hymns of gladness, and all her houses shall cry out, "Alleluia! "Blessed be God who has raised you up! may he be blessed for all ages!" For in you they shall praise his holy name forever. The end of Tobit's hymn of praise.	18 Le porte di Gerusalemme risuoneranno di canti di giubilo e tutte le sue case acclameranno: "Alleluia, benedetto il Dio d'Israele". Coloro che sono da lui benedetti benediranno il suo santo nome nei secoli, per sempre".
