Tobit 13

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Then Tobit composed this joyful prayer: Blessed be God who lives forever, because his kingdom lasts for all ages.	1 Et il dit: Béni soit Dieu qui vit à jamais, car son règne dure dans tous les siècles!
2 For he scourges and then has mercy; he casts down to the depths of the nether world, and he brings up from the great abyss. No one can escape his hand.	2 Car tour à tour il châtie et il pardonne, il fait descendre aux profondeurs des enfers et il retire de lagrande Perdition: personne n'échappe à sa main.
3 Praise him, you Israelites, before the Gentiles, for though he has scattered you among them,	3 Célébrez-le en face des nations, vous, enfants d'Israël! Car s'il vous a dispersés parmi elles,
4 he has shown you his greatness even there. Exalt him before every living being, because he is the Lord our God, our Father and God forever.	4 c'est là qu'il vous a montré sa grandeur. Exaltez-le en face de tous les vivants, c'est lui notre Seigneuret c'est lui notre Dieu et c'est lui notre Père et il est Dieu dans tous les siècles!
5 He scourged you for your iniquities, but will again have mercy on you all. He will gather you from all the Gentiles among whom you have been scattered.	5 S'il vous châtie pour vos iniquités, il aura pitié de vous tous, il vous rassemblera de toutes les nationsoù vous aurez été dispersés.
6 When you turn back to him with all your heart, to do what is right before him, Then he will turn back to you, and no longer hide his face from you. So now consider what he has done for you, and praise him with full voice. Bless the Lord of righteousness, and exalt the King of the ages. In the land of my exile I praise him, and show his power and majesty to a sinful nation. "Turn back, you sinners! do the right before him: perhaps he may look with favor upon you and show you mercy.	6 Si vous revenez à lui, du fond du coeur et de toute votre âme, pour agir dans la vérité devant lui,alors il reviendra vers vous, et ne vous cachera plus sa face. Regardez donc comme il vous a traités, rendez-luigrâce à haute voix. Bénissez le Seigneur de justice, et exaltez le Roi des siècles.
7 "As for me, I exalt my God, and my spirit rejoices in the King of heaven.	7 Pour moi, je le célèbre sur ma terre d'exil, je fais connaître sa force et sa grandeur au peuple despécheurs. Pécheurs, revenez à lui, pratiquez la justice devant lui; peut-être vous sera-t-il favorable et vous fera-t-il miséricorde!
8 Let all men speak of his majesty, and sing his praises in Jerusalem."	8 Pour moi, j'exalte Dieu et mon âme se réjouit dans le Roi du Ciel. Que sa grandeur soit sur toutes leslèvres, et qu'on le célèbre à Jérusalem!
9 O Jerusalem, holy city, he scourged you for the works of your hands, but will again pity the children of the righteous.	9 Jérusalem, cité sainte, Dieu te frappa pour les oeuvres de tes mains et il aura encore pitié des fils desjustes.
10 Praise the Lord for his goodness, and bless the King of the ages, so that his tent may be rebuilt in you with joy. May he gladden within you all who were captives; all who were ravaged may he cherish within you for all generations to come.	10 Remercie dignement le Seigneur et bénis le Roi des siècles, pour qu'en toi son Temple soit rebâtidans la joie et qu'en toi il réjouisse tous les exilés, et qu'en toi il aime tous les malheureux, pour toutes lesgénérations à venir.
11 A bright light will shine to all parts of the earth; many nations shall come to you from afar, And the inhabitants of all the limits of the earth, drawn to you by the name of the Lord God, Bearing in their hands their gifts for the King of heaven. Every generation shall give joyful praise in you, and shall call you the chosen one, through all ages forever.	11 Une vive lumière illuminera toutes les contrées de la terre; des peuples nombreux viendront de loin,de toutes les extrémités de la terre, séjourner près du saint Nom du Seigneur Dieu, les mains portant des présentsau Roi du Ciel. En toi des générations de générations manifesteront leur allégresse, et le nom de l'Elue dureradans les générations à venir.
12 Accursed are all who speak a harsh word against you; accursed are all who destroy you and pull down your walls, And all who overthrow your towers and set fire to your homes; but forever blessed are all those who build you up.	12 Maudit soit qui t'insultera, maudit soit qui te détruira, qui renversera tes murs, qui abattra tes tours,qui brûlera tes maisons! Et béni éternellement qui te bâtira!
13 Go, then, rejoice over the children of the righteous, who shall all be gathered together and shall bless the Lord of the ages.	13 Alors tu exulteras et tu te réjouiras sur les fils des justes, car ils seront tous rassemblés et ilsbéniront le Seigneur des siècles.
14 Happy are those who love you, and happy those who rejoice in your prosperity. Happy are all the men who shall grieve over you, over all your chastisements, For they shall rejoice in you as they behold all your joy forever.	14 Bienheureux ceux qui t'aiment! heureux ceux qui se réjouiront de ta paix! heureux ceux qui seseront lamentés sur tous tes châtiments! Car ils vont se réjouir en toi, et ils verront tout ton bonheur à l'avenir.
15 My spirit blesses the Lord, the great King;	15 Mon âme bénit le Seigneur, le grand Roi,
16 Jerusalem shall be rebuilt as his home forever. Happy for me if a remnant of my offspring survive to see your glory and to praise the King of heaven! The gates of Jerusalem shall be built with sapphire and emerald, and all your walls with precious stones. The towers of Jerusalem shall be built with gold, and their battlements with pure gold.	16 parce que Jérusalem sera rebâtie, et sa Maison pour tous les siècles! Quel bonheur, s'il restequelqu'un de ma race, pour voir ta gloire et louer le Roi du Ciel! Les portes de Jérusalem seront bâties de saphiret d'émeraude, et tous tes murs de pierre précieuse; les tours de Jérusalem seront bâties en or, et leurs rempartsen or pur.
17 The streets of Jerusalem shall be paved with rubies and stones of Ophir;	17 Les rues de Jérusalem seront pavées de rubis et de pierres d'Ophir; les portes de Jérusalemretentiront de cantiques d'allégresse; et toutes ses maisons diront: Alleluia! Béni soit le Dieu d'Israël! En toi l'onbénira le saint Nom, dans les siècles des siècles!
18 The gates of Jerusalem shall sing hymns of gladness, and all her houses shall cry out, "Alleluia! "Blessed be God who has raised you up! may he be blessed for all ages!" For in you they shall praise his holy name forever. The end of Tobit's hymn of praise.
