1 Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Jerusa, daughter of Zadok.	1 Joatão tinha a idade de vinte e cinco anos quando começou a reinar, e reinou durante dezesseis anos em Jerusalém. Sua mãe chamava-se Jerusa, filha de Sadoc.
2 He pleased the LORD just as his father Uzziah had done, though he did not enter the temple of the LORD; the people, however, continued to act sinfully.	2 Fez o bem aos olhos do Senhor, e seguiu as pegadas de seu pai Ozias, exceto que não penetrou no templo do Senhor. Mas o povo continuava a se corromper.
3 He built the upper gate of the LORD'S house and had much construction done on the wall of Ophel.	3 Foi Joatão quem construiu a porta superior do templo do Senhor, e trabalhou muito no muro de Ofel.
4 Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forest land he set up fortresses and towers.	4 Construiu cidades na montanha de Judá, fortes e torres nas matas.
5 He fought with the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him one hundred talents of silver, together with ten thousand kors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. They brought the same to him also in the second and in the third year.	5 Fez guerra ao rei dos amonitas e venceu-os. Nesse ano, os amonitas pagaram-lhe um tributo de cem talentos de prata, dez mil coros de trigo, e dez mil de cevada; isso eles trouxeram também no segundo e no terceiro ano.
6 Thus Jotham continued to grow strong because he lived resolutely in the presence of the LORD, his God.	6 Joatão tornou-se assim muito poderoso, porque ele andava com firmeza nos caminhos do Senhor, seu Deus.

9 Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king.	9 Joatão adormeceu entre seus pais e foi sepultado na cidade de Davi. Seu filho Acaz sucedeu-lhe no trono.
