NEW AMERICAN BIBLENOVA VULGATA
Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother was named Jerusa, daughter of Zadok.1 Viginti quinque annorum erat Ioatham, cum regnare coepisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Ierusalem. Nomen matris eius Ierusa filia Sadoc.
He pleased the LORD just as his father Uzziah had done, though he did not enter the temple of the LORD; the people, however, continued to act sinfully.2 Fecitque, quod rectum erat coram Domino iuxta omnia, quae fecerat Ozias pater suus, excepto quod non est ingressus templum Domini, et adhuc populus delinquebat.
He built the upper gate of the LORD'S house and had much construction done on the wall of Ophel.3 Ipse aedificavit portam domus Domini Superiorem et in muro Ophel multa construxit.
Moreover, he built cities in the hill country of Judah, and in the forest land he set up fortresses and towers.4 Urbes quoque aedificavit in montibus Iudae et in saltibus castella et turres.
He fought with the king of the Ammonites and conquered them. That year the Ammonites paid him one hundred talents of silver, together with ten thousand kors of wheat and ten thousand of barley. They brought the same to him also in the second and in the third year.5 Ipse pugnavit contra regem filiorum Ammon et vicit eos, dederuntque ei filii Ammon in anno illo centum talenta argenti et decem milia choros tritici ac totidem choros hordei; haec ei praebuerunt filii Ammon etiam in anno secundo et tertio.
Thus Jotham continued to grow strong because he lived resolutely in the presence of the LORD, his God.6 Corroboratusque est Ioatham, eo quod direxisset vias suas coram Domino Deo suo.
The rest of the acts of Jotham, his wars and his activities, can be found written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah.7 Reliqua autem gestorum Ioatham et omnes pugnae eius et viae scriptae sunt in libro regum Israel et Iudae.
He was twenty-five years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem.8 Viginti quinque annorum erat, cum regnare coepisset, et sedecim annis regnavit in Ierusalem.
Jotham rested with his ancestors and was buried in the City of David, and his son Ahaz succeeded him as king.9 Dormivitque Ioatham cum patribus suis, et sepelierunt eum in civitate David; et regnavit Achaz filius eius pro eo.
