1 In the seventh year, Jehoiada took courage and entered a conspiracy with certain captains: Azariah, son of Jehoram; Ishmael, son of Jehohanan; Azariah, son of Obed; Masseiah, son of Adaiah; and Elishaphat, son of Zichri.	1 No sétimo ano, Jojada, cheio de intrepidez, tomou consigo os centuriões, a saber; Azarias, filho de Jeroão, Ismael, filho de Joanão, Azarias, filho de Obed, Maasias, filho de Adaia, Elisafat, filho de Zecri, e coligou-se com eles.
2 They journeyed about Judah, gathering the Levites from all the cities of Judah and also the heads of the Israelite families. When they had come to Jerusalem,	2 Eles, tendo percorrido Judá, congregaram os levitas de todas as cidades de Judá e os chefes das famílias de Israel, e foram a Jerusalém.
3 the whole assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. Jehoiada said to them: "Here is the king's son who must reign, as the LORD promised concerning the sons of David.	3 Toda esta multidão fez liga com o rei na casa de Deus. Jojada disse-lhes: Eis aqui o filho do rei, que deve reinar, segundo aquilo que o Senhor disse a favor dos descendentes de Davide.
4 This is what you must do: a third of your number, both priests and Levites, who come in on the sabbath must guard the thresholds,	4 Eis o que deveis fazer:
5 another third must be at the king's palace, and the final third at the Foundation Gate, when all the people will be in the courts of the LORD'S temple.	5 A terça parte de vós, sacerdotes, Levitas e porteiros, que entrais de serviço no templo, ao sábado, estará às portas; a outra terça parte colocar-se-á junto ao palácio do rei; a outra terça à porta, que se chama do Fundamento. Todo o resto do povo estará nos átrios da casa do Senhor.
6 Let no one enter the LORD'S house except the priests and those Levites who are ministering. They may enter because they are holy; but all the other people must observe the prescriptions of the LORD.	6 Nenhum outro entre na casa do Senhor, senão os sacerdotes e os Levitas que estão de serviço; entrem sòmente estes, porque estão santificados; todo o resto do povo esteja guardando a porta da casa do Senhor.
7 The Levites shall surround the king on all sides, each with his weapon drawn. Whoever tries to enter the house must be slain. Stay with the king wherever he goes."	7 Os Levitas rodearão o rei, tendo cada um as suas armas; se algum outro entrar no templo, seja morto. Acompanhareis o rei, quando ele entrar ou quando sair.
8 The Levites and all Judah did just as Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each brought his men, those who were to come in on the sabbath as well as those who were to depart on the sabbath, since Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed any of the divisions.	8 Os Levitas, pois, e todo o Judá executaram tudo o que o pontífice Jojada lhes tinha ordenado. Cada um tomou os que tinha às suas ordens, aqueles que entravam, tanto os que principiavam como os que acabavam o serviço, ao sábado, porque o pontífice e Jojada não tinha dispensado nenhuma das turmas, que costumavam suceder umas às outras todas os semanas.
9 Jehoiada the priest gave the captains the spears, shields and bucklers of King David which were in the house of God.	9 O sacerdote Jojada deu aos centuriões as lanças e os escudos, tanto os grandes como os pequenos, do rei Davide, os quais ele tinha consagrado na casa do Senhor.
10 He stationed all the people, each with his spear in hand, from the southern to the northern extremity of the enclosure, around the altar and the temple on the king's behalf.	10 Depois dispôs todo o povo armado de espadas na mão, desde o lado direito do templo até ao lado esquerdo do templo, diante do altar e do templo, de forma a rodear o rei.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, set the crown and the insignia upon him, and made him king. Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and they cried, "Long live the king!"	11 Então trouxeram o filho do rei, puseram-lhe a corôa na cabeça e o testemunho, deram-lhe a lei, para que a tivesse na mão, e proclamaram-no rei. O pontífice Jojada e seus filhos ungiram-no, aclamando-o aos gritos de: Viva o rei!
12 When Athaliah heard the din of the people running and acclaiming the king, she went to the people in the temple of the LORD.	12 Atalia, tendo ouvido a voz dos que corriam e aclamavam o rei, apresentou-se ao povo no templo do Senhor.
13 She looked, and there was the king standing beside his pillar at the entrance, the officers and the trumpeters around him, and all the people of the land rejoicing and blowing trumpets, while the singers with their musical instruments were leading the acclaim. Athaliah tore her garments and cried out, "Treason! treason!"	13 Quando viu o rei posto de pé sobre um estrado, à entrada, e os príncipes e as tropas, ao redor dele, e todo o povo do país muito alegre; (quando ouviu) o toque das trombetas e os cantares, ao som de vários instrumentos, a dirigirem os cânticos de louvor, rasgou os seus vestidos e disse: Traição! traição!
14 Then Jehoiada the priest sent out the captains who were in command of the army; he said to them: "Take her outside through the ranks, and if anyone tries to follow her, let him die by the sword. For," the priest continued, "you must not put her to death in the LORD'S temple."	14 Então o sacerdote Jojada, aproximando-se dos centuriões e dos chefes do exército, disse-lhes: Tirai-a para fora do recinto do templo, por entre as vossas fileiras; se alguém a seguir, seja morto à espada. Com efeito, o sacerdote ordenara que não fosse morta na casa do Senhor.
15 So they seized her, and when she arrived at the entrance to the Horse Gate of the palace, they put her to death there.	15 E agarraram-na pelo pescoço; e, quando ela tinha entrado a porta dos cavalos da casa do rei, ali a mataram.
16 Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself and all the people and the king, that they should be the LORD'S people.	16 Jojada fez aliança entre si e todo o povo e o rei, pela qual seriam o povo do Senhor.
17 And all the people went to the temple of Baal and tore it down. They smashed its altars and images, and they slew Mattan, the priest of Baal, before the altars.	17 Todo o povo entrou no templo de Baal e o destruiu; despedaçou altares e imagens e matou, diante dos altares, Matam, sacerdote de Baal.
18 Then Jehoiada gave the charge of the LORD'S temple into the hands of the levitical priests, to whom David had assigned turns in the temple for offering the holocausts of the LORD, as is written in the law of Moses, with rejoicing and song, as David had provided.	18 Jojada estabeleceu oficiais para a guarda do templo do Senhor, subordinados aos sacerdotes e aos Levitas, segundo a distribuição que deles tinha feito Davide na casa do Senhor, para oferecerem holocaustos ao Senhor, como está escrito na lei de Moisés, com alegria e com cânticos, segundo a determinação de Davide.
19 Moreover, he stationed guards at the gates of the LORD'S temple so that no one unclean in any respect might enter.	19 Pôs também porteiros às portas da casa do Senhor, para nela não entrar imundo algum, por qualquer motivo que fosse.
20 Then he took the captains, the nobles, the rulers among the people, and all the people of the land, and led the king out of the LORD'S house. When they had come within the upper gate of the king's house, they seated the king upon the royal throne.	20 Tomou os centuriões, os homens mais valentes e os chefes do povo, com toda a gente do país, e fez descer o rei da casa do Senhor. Entraram pela porta superior para o palácio do rei e puseram-no sobre o trono real.
21 All the people of the land rejoiced and the city was quiet, now that Athaliah had been put to death by the sword.	21 Todo o povo do país se alegrou e a cidade ficou em paz. Atalia foi morta à espada.
