1 Jehoshaphat rested with his ancestors; he was buried with them in the City of David. Jehoram, his son, succeeded him as king.	1 Se acostó Josafat con sus padres y fue sepultado con ellos en la ciudad de David. En su lugar reinó su hijo Joram.
2 His brothers, sons of Jehoshaphat, were Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael and Shephatiah; all these were sons of King Jehoshaphat of Judah.	2 Joram tenía seis hermanos, hijos de Josafat, que eran Azarías, Yejiel, Zacarías, Azaryau, Miguel y Sefatías. Todos estos eran hijos de Josafat, rey de Israel.
3 Their father gave them numerous gifts of silver, gold and precious objects, together with fortified cities in Judah, but the kingship he gave to Jehoram because he was the first-born.	3 Su padre les había hecho grandes donaciones de plata, oro y objetos preciosos, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; pero entregó el reino a Joram, porque era el primogénito.
4 When Jehoram had come into his father's kingdom and had consolidated his power, he put to the sword all his brothers and also some of the princes of Israel.	4 Joram tomó posesión del trono de su padre; y cuando se afianzó en él pasó a cuchillo a todos sus hermanos y también a algunos de los jefes de Israel.
5 Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	5 32 años tenía Joram cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.
6 He conducted himself like the kings of Israel of the line of Ahab, because one of Ahab's daughters was his wife. He did evil in the sight of the LORD,	6 Anduvo por el camino de los reyes de Israel, como había hecho la casa de Ajab, porque se había casado con una mujer de la familia de Ajab, e hizo el mal a los ojos de Yahveh.
7 but the LORD would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant he had made with David and because of his promise to give him and his sons a lamp for all time.	7 Pero Yahveh no quiso destruir la casa de David, a causa de la alianza que había hecho con David, porque le había prometido que le daría siempre una lámpara a él y a sus hijos.
8 During his time Edom revolted against the sovereignty of Judah; they chose a king of their own.	8 En sus días se rebeló Edom de bajo la mano de Judá y se proclamaron un rey.
9 Thereupon Jehoram crossed over with his officers and all the chariots he had. He arose by night and broke through the Edomites when they had surrounded him and the commanders of his chariots.	9 Pasó Joram con sus jefes, y con todos sus carros. Se levantó por la noche y batió a los de Edom que le tenían cercado, a él y a los jefes de los carros.
10 However, Edom has continued in revolt against the sovereignty of Judah down to the present time. Libnah also revolted at that time against Jehoram's sovereignty because he had forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.	10 Así se rebeló Edom de bajo la mano de Judá hasta el día de hoy. Por ese mismo tiempo se rebeló Libná de bajo su mano, porque había abandonado a Yahveh, el Dios de sus padres.
11 He also set up high places in the mountains of Judah; he led the inhabitants of Jerusalem into idolatry and seduced Judah.	11 Construyó asimismo altos en los montes de Judá, incitó a la prostitución a los habitantes de Jerusalén y empujó a ella a Judá.
12 He received a letter from the prophet Elijah with this message: "Thus says the LORD, the God of your ancestor David: 'Because you have not followed the path of your father Jehoshaphat, nor of Asa, king of Judah,	12 Le llegó un escrito del profeta Elías, que decía: «Así dice Yahveh, el Dios de tu padre David: Porque no has seguido los caminos de tu padre Josafat, ni los caminos de Asá, rey de Judá,
13 but instead have walked in the way of the kings of Israel and have led Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem into idolatry, as did the house of Ahab, and also because you have murdered your brothers of your father's house who were better than you,	13 sino que has andado por los caminos de los reyes de Israel, y has prostituido a Judá y a los habitantes de Jerusalén siguiendo las prostituciones de la casa de Ajab, y también porque has dado muerte a tus hermanos de la casa de tu padre que eran mejores que tú;
14 the LORD will strike your people, your children, your wives, and all that is yours with a great plague;	14 he aquí que Yahveh castigará con terrible azote a tu pueblo, tus hijos, tus mujeres y toda tu hacienda;
15 and you shall have severe pains from a disease in your bowels, while your bowels issue forth because of the disease, day after day.'"	15 tú mismo padecerás grandes enfermedades y una dolencia de entrañas tal, que día tras día se te saldrán fuera a causa de la enfermedad».
16 Then the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the animosity of the Philistines and of the Arabs who bordered on the Ethiopians.	16 Excitó Yahveh contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos y de los árabes, vecinos de los etíopes,
17 They came up against Judah, invaded it, and carried away all the wealth found in the king's palace, along with his sons and his wives; there was left to him only one son, Jehoahaz, his youngest.	17 que subieron contra Judá y lo invadieron llevándose todas las riquezas que hallaron en la casa del rey, y también a sus hijos y a sus mujeres, no dejándole otro hijo que Ocozías, el menor.
18 After these events, the LORD afflicted him with an incurable disease of the bowels.	18 Después de todo esto le hirió Yahveh con una enfermedad incurable de vientre.
19 As time went on until a period of two years had elapsed, his bowels issued forth because of the disease and he died in great pain. His people did not made a pyre for him like that of his fathers.	19 Y al cabo de cierto tiempo, al fin del año segundo, se le salieron las entrañas a causa de su enfermedad, y murió en medio de terribles dolores. El pueblo no le encendió fuego, como lo había encendido por su padre.
20 He was thirty-two years old when he became king, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem. He departed unloved and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.	20 Tenía 32 años cuando empezó a reinar, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años. Se fué sin que nadie le llorara; y le sepultaron en la ciudad de David, pero no en los sepulcros de los reyes.
