1 After David had taken up residence in his house, he said to Nathan the prophet, "See, I am living in a house of cedar, but the ark of the covenant of the LORD dwells under tentcloth."	1 Morando ya David en su casa, dijo a Natán, profeta: «Mira, yo habito en una casa de cedro, mientras el arca de la alianza de Yahveh está bajo pieles».
2 Nathan replied to David, "Do, therefore, whatever you desire, for God is with you."	2 Respondió Natán a David: «Haz todo cuanto tienes en tu corazón, porque Dios está contigo».
3 But that same night the word of God came to Nathan:	3 Pero aquella misma noche vino la palabra de Dios a Natán en estos términos:
4 "Go and tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD: It is not you who are to build a house for me to dwell in.	4 «Vete y di a mi siervo David: Así dice Yahveh: No serás tú quien me edifique Casa para que habite yo en ella.
5 For I have never dwelt in a house, from the time when I led Israel onward, even to this day, but I have been lodging in tent or pavilion	5 Pues no he habitado en casa alguna desde el día en que hice subir a los israelitas hasta el día de hoy; sino que he andado de tienda en tienda y de morada en morada.
6 as long as I have wandered about with all of Israel. Did I ever say a word to any of the judges of Israel whom I commanded to guide my people, such as, 'Why have you not built me a house of cedar?'	6 En todo el tiempo que he ido de un lado para otro con todo Israel, ¿he dicho acaso a alguno de los Jueces de Israel, a los que mandé me apacentaran a mi pueblo: Por qué no me edificáis una Casa de cedro?
7 Therefore, tell my servant David, Thus says the LORD of hosts: I took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you might become ruler over my people Israel.	7 Di, pues, ahora esto a mi siervo David: Así habla Yahveh Sebaot: Yo te he tomado del pastizal, de detrás del rebaño, para que seas caudillo de mi pueblo Israel.
8 I was with you wherever you went, and I cut down all your enemies before you. I will make your name great like that of the greatest on the earth.	8 He estado contigo donde quiera que has ido, he eliminado a todos tus enemigos de delante de ti y voy a hacerte un nombre grande como el nombre de los grandes de la tierra.
9 I will assign a place for my people Israel and I will plant them in it to dwell there henceforth undisturbed; nor shall wicked men ever again oppress them, as they did at first,	9 Fijaré un lugar a mi pueblo Israel, y lo plantaré allí para que more en él; no será ya perturbado, y los malhechores no seguirán oprimiéndole como al principio,
10 and during all the time when I appointed judges over my people Israel. And I will subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that I, the LORD, will build you a house;	10 y como en los días en que instituí Jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel. Someteré a todos tus enemigos. Yahveh te anuncia que Yahveh te edificará una casa.
11 so that when your days have been completed and you must join your fathers, I will raise up your offspring after you who will be one of your own sons, and I will establish his kingdom.	11 Cuando se cumplan tus días para ir con tus padres, afirmaré después de ti la descendencia que saldrá de tus entrañas y consolidaré su reino.
12 He it is who shall build me a house, and I will establish his throne forever.	12 El me edificará un Casa y yo afirmaré su trono para siempre.
13 I will be a father to him, and he shall be a son to me, and I will not withdraw my favor from him as I withdrew it from him who preceded you;	13 Yo seré para él un padre, y él será para mi un hijo, y no apartaré de él mi amor, como le aparté de aquel que fue antes de ti.
14 but I will maintain him in my house and in my kingdom forever, and his throne shall be firmly established forever."	14 Yo le estableceré en mi Casa y en mi reino para siempre, y su trono estará firme eternamente».
15 All these words and this whole vision Nathan related exactly to David.	15 Conforme a todas estas palabras, y conforme a toda esta visión, habló Natán a David.
16 Then David came in and sat in the LORD'S presence, saying: "Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you should have brought me as far as I have come?	16 Entró entonces el rey David, se sentó delante de Yahveh y dijo: «¿Quien soy yo, oh Yahveh Dios, y qué mi casa, que me has traído hasta aquí?
17 And yet, even this you now consider too little, O God! For you have made a promise regarding your servant's family reaching into the distant future, and you have looked on me as henceforth the most notable of men, O LORD God.	17 Y aun esto es poco a tus ojos, oh Dios, que hablas también a la casa de tu siervo para el futuro lejano y me miras como si fuera un hombre distinguido, oh Yahveh Dios.
18 What more can David say to you? You know your servant.	18 ¿Qué más podrá añadirte David por la gloria que concedes a tu siervo?
19 O LORD, for your servant's sake and in keeping with your purpose, you have done this great thing.	19 Oh Yahveh, por amor de tu siervo, y según tu corazón, has hecho todas estas cosas tan grandes, para manifestar todas estas grandezas.
20 O LORD, there is no one like you and there is no God but you, just as we have always understood.	20 Oh Yahveh, nadie com tú, ni hay Dios fuera de ti, según todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.
21 "Is there, like your people Israel, whom you redeemed from Egypt, another nation on earth whom a god went to redeem as his people? You won for yourself a name for great and awesome deeds by driving out the nations before your people.	21 Y ¿qué otro pueblo hay sobre la tierra como tu pueblo Israel, a quien un dios haya ido a rescatar para hacerle su pueblo, dándole renombre por medio de obras grandes y terribles, arrojando naciones de delante de tu pueblo al que rescataste de Egipto?
22 You made your people Israel your own forever, and you, O LORD, became their God.	22 Tú has constituido a Israel tu pueblo como pueblo tuyo para siempre; y tú, Yahveh, te has hecho su Dios.
23 Therefore, O LORD, may the promise that you have uttered concerning your servant and his house remain firm forever. Bring about what you have promised,	23 Ahora, pues, oh Yahveh, mantén firme eternamente la palabra que has dirigido a tu siervo y a su casa; y haz según tu palabra.
24 that your renown as LORD of hosts, God of Israel, may be great and abide forever, while the house of David, your servant, is established in your presence.	24 Sí, sea firme; y sea tu nombre por siempre engrandecido, y que diga: “Yahveh Sebaot, el Dios de Israel, es el Dios para Israel.” Y que la casa de tu siervo David subsista en tu presencia.
25 "Because you, O my God, have revealed to your servant that you will build him a house, your servant has made bold to pray before you.	25 Ya que tú, oh Dios mío, has revelado a tu siervo que vas a edificarle una casa, por eso tu siervo ha encontrado valor para orar en tu presencia.
26 Since you, O LORD, are truly God and have promised this good thing to your servant,	26 Ahora, pues, Yahveh, tú eres Dios, y tú has prometido esta dicha a tu siervo.
27 and since you have deigned to bless the house of your servant, so that it will remain forever--since it is you, O LORD, who blessed it, it is blessed forever."	27 Y ahora te has dignado bendecir la casa de tu siervo, para que permanezca por siempre en tu presencia, porque lo que tú bendices, Yahveh, queda bendito por siempre».
