1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah, son of Remaliah, Ahaz, son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.	1 El año diecisiete de Pécaj, hijo de Romelías, subió al trono Ajaz, hijo de Jotán, rey de Judá.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not please the LORD, his God, like his forefather David,	2 Cuando subió al trono tenía Ajaz veinte años y su reinado duró dieciséis años en Jerusalén. No hizo lo recto a los ojos del Señor, su Dios, como lo había hecho David, su padre,
3 but conducted himself like the kings of Israel, and even immolated his son by fire, in accordance with the abominable practice of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the way of the Israelites.	3 sino que siguió los pasos de los reyes de Israel. Incluso arrojó a su hijo a la pira de fuego, según la abominable costumbre de las naciones que el Señor había expulsado ante los hijos de Israel.
4 Further, he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on hills, and under every leafy tree.	4 También ofreció sacrificios y quemó incienso en los santuarios, en las colinas y bajo todo árbol frondoso.
5 Then Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to attack it. Although they besieged Ahaz, they were unable to conquer him.	5 Entonces Rasín, rey de Siria, y Pécaj, hijo de Romelías, rey de Israel, avanzaron sobre Jerusalén para atacarla y pusieron cerco a Ajaz, pero no pudieron entablar combate.
6 At the same time the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom, driving the Judeans out of it. The Edomites then entered Elath, which they have occupied until the present.	6 Rasín, rey de Siria, recuperó en aquel tiempo Elat para Siria y expulsó de allí a los de Judá, con lo que los edomitas entraron en Elat para permanecer en ella hasta el día de hoy.
7 Meanwhile, Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, with the plea: "I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the clutches of the king of Aram and the king of Israel, who are attacking me."	7 Ajaz envió mensajeros a Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, diciendo: «Soy servidor tuyo e hijo tuyo. Emprende una campaña y líbrame de las manos del rey de Siria y del rey de Israel, que se están alzando contra mí».
8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that were in the temple of the LORD and in the palace treasuries and sent them as a present to the king of Assyria,	8 Ajaz tomó la plata y el oro que se encontraba en el templo del Señor y en los tesoros del palacio real y lo envió como regalo al rey de Asiria.
9 who listened to him and moved against Damascus, which he captured. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.	9 Atendiendo su demanda, el rey de Asiria marchó contra Damasco, la conquistó, deportó luego (a sus habitantes) a Quir y mató a Rasín, rey de Siria.
10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria. When he saw the altar in Damascus, King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest a model of the altar and a detailed design of its construction.	10 Cuando el rey Ajaz fue a Damasco a recibir a Teglatfalasar, rey de Asiria, viendo el altar que había en Damasco, envío al sacerdote Urías un modelo del mismo y un proyecto para su reproducción.
11 Uriah the priest built an altar according to the plans which King Ahaz sent him from Damascus, and had it completed by the time the king returned home.	11 El sacerdote Urías construyó así el altar, conforme a las instrucciones enviadas por el rey Ajaz desde Damasco (de esta forma Urías construyó el altar, antes incluso de que su rey volviera de Damasco).
12 On his arrival from Damascus, the king inspected this altar, then went up to it and offered sacrifice on it,	12 A su regreso, el rey Ajaz vio el altar, se acercó y subió a él,
13 burning his holocaust and cereal-offering, pouring out his libation, and sprinkling the blood of his peace-offerings on the altar.	13 quemó su holocausto, quemó su ofrenda y vertió su libación sobre el altar, haciendo aspersión con la sangre de los sacrificios de comunión.
14 The bronze altar that stood before the LORD he brought from the front of the temple--that is, from the space between the new altar and the temple of the LORD--and set it on the north side of his altar.	14 Luego, el altar de bronce que se hallaba ante el Señor lo trasladó de delante del templo, es decir, de entre el altar y el templo del Señor, y lo colocó al lado norte del nuevo altar.
15 "Upon the large altar," King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, "burn the morning holocaust and the evening cereal offering, the royal holocaust and cereal offering, as well as the holocausts, cereal offerings, and libations of the people. You must also sprinkle on it all the blood of holocausts and sacrifices. But the old bronze altar shall be mine for consultation."	15 Después el rey Ajaz ordenó al sacerdote Urías: «Sobre este gran altar quemarás el holocausto de la mañana y la ofrenda de la tarde; el holocausto y la ofrenda del rey; el holocausto, la ofrenda y las libaciones de todo el pueblo de la tierra. Harás aspersión sobre el altar con la sangre de todos los holocaustos y la de todos los sacrificios. En cuanto al altar de bronce, yo decidiré».
16 Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had commanded.	16 Y el sacerdote Urías hizo cuanto Ajaz le había ordenado.
17 King Ahaz detached the frames from the bases and removed the lavers from them; he also took down the bronze sea from the bronze oxen that supported it, and set it on a stone pavement.	17 El rey Ajaz fue quien desmontó los paneles de las basas y retiró la pila que estaba encima. Bajó también el mar de bronce que estaba sobre los bueyes de bronce y lo colocó sobre un pavimento de piedra.
18 In deference to the king of Assyria he removed from the temple of the LORD the emplacement which had been built in the temple for a throne, and the outer entrance for the king.	18 En atención al rey asirio, tuvo que retirar el estrado del trono construido en el templo del Señor y la entrada exterior del rey.
19 The rest of the acts of Ahaz are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	19 El resto de los hechos de Ajaz, lo que hizo, ¿no se halla escrito en el libro de los Anales de los Reyes de Judá?
20 Ahaz rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Hezekiah succeeded him as king.	20 Ajaz se durmió con sus padres y lo enterraron junto a sus padres en la Ciudad de David. Le sucedió en el trono su hijo Ezequías.
