2 Kings 16

NEW AMERICAN BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 In the seventeenth year of Pekah, son of Remaliah, Ahaz, son of Jotham, king of Judah, began to reign.	1 En la dix-septième année de Péqah fils de Remalyahu, Achaz fils de Yotam devint roi de Juda.
2 Ahaz was twenty years old when he became king, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. He did not please the LORD, his God, like his forefather David,	2 Achaz avait vingt ans à son avènement et il régna seize ans à Jérusalem. Il ne fit pas ce qui estagréable à Yahvé, son Dieu, comme avait fait David son ancêtre.
3 but conducted himself like the kings of Israel, and even immolated his son by fire, in accordance with the abominable practice of the nations whom the LORD had cleared out of the way of the Israelites.	3 Il imita la conduite des rois d'Israël, et même il fit passer son fils par le feu, selon les coutumesabominables des nations que Yahvé avait chassées devant les Israélites.
4 Further, he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places, on hills, and under every leafy tree.	4 Il offrit des sacrifices et de l'encens sur les hauts lieux, sur les collines et sous tout arbre verdoyant.
5 Then Rezin, king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, came up to Jerusalem to attack it. Although they besieged Ahaz, they were unable to conquer him.	5 C'est alors que Raçôn, roi d'Aram, et Péqah fils de Remalyahu, roi d'Israël, partirent en guerrecontre Jérusalem, ils l'assiégèrent mais ils ne purent pas la réduire.
6 At the same time the king of Edom recovered Elath for Edom, driving the Judeans out of it. The Edomites then entered Elath, which they have occupied until the present.	6 (En ce temps-là, le roi d'Edom recouvra Elat pour Edom; il expulsa les Judéens d'Elat, les Edomitesy entrèrent et ils y sont restés jusqu'à ce jour.)
7 Meanwhile, Ahaz sent messengers to Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria, with the plea: "I am your servant and your son. Come up and rescue me from the clutches of the king of Aram and the king of Israel, who are attacking me."	7 Alors Achaz envoya des messagers à Téglat-Phalasar, roi d'Assyrie, pour lui dire: "Je suis tonserviteur et ton fils! Viens me délivrer des mains du roi d'Aram et du roi d'Israël, qui se sont levés contre moi."
8 Ahaz took the silver and gold that were in the temple of the LORD and in the palace treasuries and sent them as a present to the king of Assyria,	8 Achaz prit l'argent et l'or qu'on trouva dans le Temple de Yahvé et dans les trésors du palais royal etenvoya le tout en présent au roi d'Assyrie.
9 who listened to him and moved against Damascus, which he captured. He deported its inhabitants to Kir and put Rezin to death.	9 Le roi d'Assyrie l'exauça, il monta contre Damas et s'en empara; il déporta les habitants à Qir et fitmourir Raçôn.
10 King Ahaz went to Damascus to meet Tiglath-pileser, king of Assyria. When he saw the altar in Damascus, King Ahaz sent to Uriah the priest a model of the altar and a detailed design of its construction.	10 Le roi Achaz alla à Damas pour rencontrer Téglat-Phalasar, roi d'Assyrie, et il vit l'autel qui était àDamas. Alors le roi Achaz envoya au prêtre Uriyya l'image de l'autel et son modèle, avec le détail de sastructure.
11 Uriah the priest built an altar according to the plans which King Ahaz sent him from Damascus, and had it completed by the time the king returned home.	11 Le prêtre Uriyya construisit l'autel; toutes les instructions que le roi Achaz avait envoyées deDamas, le prêtre Uriyya les exécuta avant que le roi Achaz revînt de Damas.
12 On his arrival from Damascus, the king inspected this altar, then went up to it and offered sacrifice on it,	12 Lorsque le roi Achaz arriva de Damas, il vit l'autel, il s'en approcha et il y monta.
13 burning his holocaust and cereal-offering, pouring out his libation, and sprinkling the blood of his peace-offerings on the altar.	13 Il fit fumer sur l'autel son holocauste et ses oblations, versa sa libation et répandit le sang de sessacrifices de communion.
14 The bronze altar that stood before the LORD he brought from the front of the temple--that is, from the space between the new altar and the temple of the LORD--and set it on the north side of his altar.	14 Quant à l'autel qui était devant Yahvé, il le déplaça de devant le Temple, où il était entre le nouvelautel et le Temple de Yahvé, et le mit à côté du nouvel autel, vers le nord.
15 "Upon the large altar," King Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, "burn the morning holocaust and the evening cereal offering, the royal holocaust and cereal offering, as well as the holocausts, cereal offerings, and libations of the people. You must also sprinkle on it all the blood of holocausts and sacrifices. But the old bronze altar shall be mine for consultation."	15 Le roi Achaz fit ce commandement au prêtre Uriyya: "C'est sur le grand autel que tu feras fumerl'holocauste du matin et l'oblation du soir, l'holocauste du roi et son oblation, l'holocauste, l'oblation et leslibations de tout le peuple; tu répandras sur lui tout le sang des holocaustes et des sacrifices. Pour ce quiconcerne l'autel de bronze, je vais m'en occuper."
16 Uriah the priest did just as King Ahaz had commanded.	16 Le prêtre Uriyya fit tout ce que lui avait ordonné le roi Achaz.
17 King Ahaz detached the frames from the bases and removed the lavers from them; he also took down the bronze sea from the bronze oxen that supported it, and set it on a stone pavement.	17 Le roi Achaz mit en pièces les bases roulantes, il en détacha les traverses et les bassins, il descenditla Mer de bronze de dessus les boeufs qui la supportaient et la posa sur le pavé de pierres.
18 In deference to the king of Assyria he removed from the temple of the LORD the emplacement which had been built in the temple for a throne, and the outer entrance for the king.	18 En considération du roi d'Assyrie, il supprima du Temple de Yahvé l'estrade du trône, qu'on y avaitconstruite, et l'entrée extérieure du roi.
19 The rest of the acts of Ahaz are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	19 Le reste de l'histoire d'Achaz, et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?
20 Ahaz rested with his ancestors and was buried with them in the City of David. His son Hezekiah succeeded him as king.	20 Achaz se coucha avec ses pères, on l'enterra dans la Cité de David et son fils Ezéchias régna à saplace.
