1 Joash was seven years old when he became king.	1 υιος ετων επτα ιωας εν τω βασιλευειν αυτον
2 Joash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother, who was named Zibiah, was from Beer-sheba.	2 εν ετει εβδομω τω ιου εβασιλευσεν ιωας και τεσσαρακοντα ετη εβασιλευσεν εν ιερουσαλημ και ονομα της μητρος αυτου αβια εκ της βηρσαβεε
3 Joash did what was pleasing to the LORD as long as he lived, because the priest Jehoiada guided him.	3 και εποιησεν ιωας το ευθες ενωπιον κυριου πασας τας ημερας ας εφωτισεν αυτον ιωδαε ο ιερευς
4 Still, the high places did not disappear; the people continued to sacrifice and to burn incense there.	4 πλην των υψηλων ου μετεσταθησαν και εκει ετι ο λαος εθυσιαζεν και εθυμιων εν τοις υψηλοις
5 For the priests Joash made this rule: "All the funds for sacred purposes that are brought to the temple of the LORD--the census tax, personal redemption money, and whatever funds are freely brought to the temple of the LORD--	5 και ειπεν ιωας προς τους ιερεις παν το αργυριον των αγιων το εισοδιαζομενον εν τω οικω κυριου αργυριον συντιμησεως ανηρ αργυριον λαβων συντιμησεως παν αργυριον ο εαν αναβη επι καρδιαν ανδρος ενεγκειν εν οικω κυριου
6 the priests may take for themselves, each from his own clients. However, they must make whatever repairs on the temple may prove necessary."	6 λαβετωσαν εαυτοις οι ιερεις ανηρ απο της πρασεως αυτων και αυτοι κρατησουσιν το βεδεκ του οικου εις παντα ου εαν ευρεθη εκει βεδεκ
7 Nevertheless, as late as the twenty-third year of the reign of King Joash, the priests had not made needed repairs on the temple.	7 και εγενηθη εν τω εικοστω και τριτω ετει τω βασιλει ιωας ουκ εκραταιωσαν οι ιερεις το βεδεκ του οικου
8 Accordingly, King Joash summoned the priest Jehoiada and the other priests. "Why do you not repair the temple?" he asked them. "You must no longer take funds from your clients, but you shall turn them over for the repairs."	8 και εκαλεσεν ιωας ο βασιλευς ιωδαε τον ιερεα και τους ιερεις και ειπεν προς αυτους τι οτι ουκ εκραταιουτε το βεδεκ του οικου και νυν μη λαβητε αργυριον απο των πρασεων υμων οτι εις το βεδεκ του οικου δωσετε αυτο
9 So the priests agreed that they would neither take funds from the people nor make the repairs on the temple.	9 και συνεφωνησαν οι ιερεις του μη λαβειν αργυριον παρα του λαου και του μη ενισχυσαι το βεδεκ του οικου
10 The priest Jehoiada then took a chest, bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the stele, on the right as one entered the temple of the LORD. The priests who guarded the entry would put into it all the funds that were brought to the temple of the LORD.	10 και ελαβεν ιωδαε ο ιερευς κιβωτον μιαν και ετρησεν τρωγλην επι της σανιδος αυτης και εδωκεν αυτην παρα ιαμιβιν εν τω οικω ανδρος οικου κυριου και εδωκαν οι ιερεις οι φυλασσοντες τον σταθμον παν το αργυριον το ευρεθεν εν οικω κυριου
11 When they noticed that there was a large amount of silver in the chest, the royal scribe (and the priest) would come up, and they would melt down all the funds that were in the temple of the LORD, and weigh them.	11 και εγενετο ως ειδον οτι πολυ το αργυριον εν τη κιβωτω και ανεβη ο γραμματευς του βασιλεως και ο ιερευς ο μεγας και εσφιγξαν και ηριθμησαν το αργυριον το ευρεθεν εν οικω κυριου
12 The amount thus realized they turned over to the master workmen in the temple of the LORD. They in turn would give it to the carpenters and builders working in the temple of the LORD,	12 και εδωκαν το αργυριον το ετοιμασθεν επι χειρας ποιουντων τα εργα των επισκοπων οικου κυριου και εξεδοσαν τοις τεκτοσιν των ξυλων και τοις οικοδομοις τοις ποιουσιν εν οικω κυριου
13 and to the lumbermen and stone cutters, and for the purchase of the wood and hewn stone used in repairing the breaches, and for any other expenses that were necessary to repair the temple.	13 και τοις τειχισταις και τοις λατομοις των λιθων του κτησασθαι ξυλα και λιθους λατομητους του κατασχειν το βεδεκ οικου κυριου εις παντα οσα εξωδιασθη επι τον οικον του κραταιωσαι
14 None of the funds brought to the temple of the LORD were used there to make silver cups, snuffers, basins, trumpets, or any gold or silver article.	14 πλην ου ποιηθησεται οικω κυριου θυραι αργυραι ηλοι φιαλαι και σαλπιγγες παν σκευος χρυσουν και σκευος αργυρουν εκ του αργυριου του εισενεχθεντος εν οικω κυριου
15 Instead, they were given to the workmen, and with them they repaired the temple of the LORD.	15 οτι τοις ποιουσιν τα εργα δωσουσιν αυτο και εκραταιωσαν εν αυτω τον οικον κυριου
16 Moreover, no reckoning was asked of the men who were provided with the funds to give to the workmen, because they held positions of trust.	16 και ουκ εξελογιζοντο τους ανδρας οις εδιδουν το αργυριον επι χειρας αυτων δουναι τοις ποιουσιν τα εργα οτι εν πιστει αυτων ποιουσιν
17 The funds from guilt-offerings and from sin-offerings, however, were not brought to the temple of the LORD; they belonged to the priests.	17 αργυριον περι αμαρτιας και αργυριον περι πλημμελειας ο τι εισηνεχθη εν οικω κυριου τοις ιερευσιν εγενετο
18 Then King Hazael of Aram mounted a siege against Gath. When he had taken it, Hazael decided to go on to attack Jerusalem.	18 τοτε ανεβη αζαηλ βασιλευς συριας και επολεμησεν επι γεθ και προκατελαβετο αυτην και εταξεν αζαηλ το προσωπον αυτου αναβηναι επι ιερουσαλημ
19 But King Jehoash of Judah took all the dedicated offerings presented by his forebears, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, as well as his own, and all the gold there was in the treasuries of the temple and the palace, and sent them to King Hazael of Aram, who then led his forces away from Jerusalem.	19 και ελαβεν ιωας βασιλευς ιουδα παντα τα αγια οσα ηγιασεν ιωσαφατ και ιωραμ και οχοζιας οι πατερες αυτου και βασιλεις ιουδα και τα αγια αυτου και παν το χρυσιον το ευρεθεν εν θησαυροις οικου κυριου και οικου του βασιλεως και απεστειλεν τω αζαηλ βασιλει συριας και ανεβη απο ιερουσαλημ
20 The rest of the acts of Joash, with all that he did, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	20 και τα λοιπα των λογων ιωας και παντα οσα εποιησεν ουκ ιδου ταυτα γεγραμμενα επι βιβλιω λογων των ημερων τοις βασιλευσιν ιουδα
21 Certain of his officials entered into a plot against him and killed him at Beth-millo.	21 και ανεστησαν οι δουλοι αυτου και εδησαν παντα συνδεσμον και επαταξαν τον ιωας εν οικω μαλλω τω εν γααλλα
22 Jozacar, son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad, son of Shomer, were the officials who killed him. He was buried in his forefathers' City of David, and his son Amaziah succeeded him as king.	22 και ιεζιχαρ υιος ιεμουαθ και ιεζεβουθ ο υιος αυτου σωμηρ οι δουλοι αυτου επαταξαν αυτον και απεθανεν και εθαψαν αυτον μετα των πατερων αυτου εν πολει δαυιδ και εβασιλευσεν αμεσσιας υιος αυτου αντ' αυτου
