2 Kings 12

1 Joash was seven years old when he became king.	1 Joas avait sept ans à son avènement.
2 Joash began to reign in the seventh year of Jehu, and he reigned forty years in Jerusalem. His mother, who was named Zibiah, was from Beer-sheba.	2 En la septième année de Jéhu, Joas devint roi et il régna 40 ans à Jérusalem; sa mère s'appelaitCibya et était de Bersabée.
3 Joash did what was pleasing to the LORD as long as he lived, because the priest Jehoiada guided him.	3 Joas fit ce qui est agréable à Yahvé, pendant toute sa vie, car le prêtre Yehoyada l'avait instruit.
4 Still, the high places did not disappear; the people continued to sacrifice and to burn incense there.	4 Seulement, les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas et le peuple continuait d'offrir sacrifices et encens surles hauts lieux.
5 For the priests Joash made this rule: "All the funds for sacred purposes that are brought to the temple of the LORD--the census tax, personal redemption money, and whatever funds are freely brought to the temple of the LORD--	5 Joas dit aux prêtres: "Tout l'argent des redevances sacrées qu'on apporte au Temple de Yahvé,l'argent des taxes personnelles et tout l'argent offert volontairement au Temple,
6 the priests may take for themselves, each from his own clients. However, they must make whatever repairs on the temple may prove necessary."	6 les prêtres le recevront chacun des gens de sa connaissance et ils feront au Temple toutes lesréparations qu'il y a à faire."
7 Nevertheless, as late as the twenty-third year of the reign of King Joash, the priests had not made needed repairs on the temple.	7 Or, en la vingt-troisième année du roi Joas, les prêtres n'avaient pas réparé le Temple;
8 Accordingly, King Joash summoned the priest Jehoiada and the other priests. "Why do you not repair the temple?" he asked them. "You must no longer take funds from your clients, but you shall turn them over for the repairs."	8 alors le roi Joas appela le prêtre Yehoyada et les prêtres et il leur dit: "Pourquoi ne réparez-vous pasle Temple? Il ne faut plus que vous receviez l'argent des gens de votre connaissance, vous le donnerez pour ledommage du Temple."
9 So the priests agreed that they would neither take funds from the people nor make the repairs on the temple.	9 Les prêtres consentirent à ne pas accepter d'argent du peuple et à n'être plus chargés de réparer leTemple.
10 The priest Jehoiada then took a chest, bored a hole in its lid, and set it beside the stele, on the right as one entered the temple of the LORD. The priests who guarded the entry would put into it all the funds that were brought to the temple of the LORD.	10 Le prêtre Yehoyada prit un coffre, perça un trou dans son couvercle et le plaça à côté de la stèle, àdroite quand on entre dans le Temple de Yahvé, et les prêtres gardiens du seuil y déposaient tout l'argent livré auTemple de Yahvé.
11 When they noticed that there was a large amount of silver in the chest, the royal scribe (and the priest) would come up, and they would melt down all the funds that were in the temple of the LORD, and weigh them.	11 Quand ils voyaient qu'il y avait beaucoup d'argent dans le coffre, le secrétaire royal montait, onfondait et on comptait l'argent qui se trouvait dans le Temple de Yahvé.
12 The amount thus realized they turned over to the master workmen in the temple of the LORD. They in turn would give it to the carpenters and builders working in the temple of the LORD,	12 Une fois l'argent éprouvé, on le remettait aux maîtres d'oeuvres attachés au Temple de Yahvé etceux-ci le dépensaient pour les charpentiers et les ouvriers du bâtiment qui travaillaient au Temple de Yahvé,
13 and to the lumbermen and stone cutters, and for the purchase of the wood and hewn stone used in repairing the breaches, and for any other expenses that were necessary to repair the temple.	13 pour les maçons et les tailleurs de pierres, et pour acheter le bois et les pierres de taille, destinés àla réparation du Temple de Yahvé, bref pour tous les frais de réparation du Temple.
14 None of the funds brought to the temple of the LORD were used there to make silver cups, snuffers, basins, trumpets, or any gold or silver article.	14 Mais on ne faisait dans le Temple de Yahvé ni bassins d'argent, ni couteaux, ni bols à aspersion, nitrompettes, ni aucun objet d'or ou d'argent avec l'argent qui y était livré,
15 Instead, they were given to the workmen, and with them they repaired the temple of the LORD.	15 on le donnait aux maîtres d'oeuvres qui l'employaient à réparer le Temple de Yahvé.
16 Moreover, no reckoning was asked of the men who were provided with the funds to give to the workmen, because they held positions of trust.	16 On ne tenait pas de comptes avec les gens aux mains desquels on remettait l'argent pour le donneraux artisans, car ils agissaient avec probité.
17 The funds from guilt-offerings and from sin-offerings, however, were not brought to the temple of the LORD; they belonged to the priests.	17 Quant à l'argent versé pour la satisfaction d'un délit ou d'un péché, il n'était pas livré au Temple deYahvé, il était pour les prêtres.
18 Then King Hazael of Aram mounted a siege against Gath. When he had taken it, Hazael decided to go on to attack Jerusalem.	18 Alors Hazaël, roi d'Aram, partit en guerre contre Gat et la prit, puis il se disposa à monter contreJérusalem.
19 But King Jehoash of Judah took all the dedicated offerings presented by his forebears, Jehoshaphat, Jehoram, and Ahaziah, kings of Judah, as well as his own, and all the gold there was in the treasuries of the temple and the palace, and sent them to King Hazael of Aram, who then led his forces away from Jerusalem.	19 Joas, roi de Juda, prit tout ce qu'avaient consacré les rois de Juda, ses pères, Josaphat, Joram etOchozias, ce qu'il avait consacré lui-même et tout l'or qu'on trouva dans les trésors du Temple de Yahvé et dupalais royal; il envoya le tout à Hazaël, roi d'Aram, et celui-ci s'éloigna de Jérusalem.
20 The rest of the acts of Joash, with all that he did, are recorded in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah.	20 Le reste de l'histoire de Joas et tout ce qu'il a fait, cela n'est-il pas écrit au livre des Annales desrois de Juda?
21 Certain of his officials entered into a plot against him and killed him at Beth-millo.	21 Ses officiers se soulevèrent et ourdirent un complot; ils frappèrent Joas au Bet-Millo...
22 Jozacar, son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad, son of Shomer, were the officials who killed him. He was buried in his forefathers' City of David, and his son Amaziah succeeded him as king.	22 Ce furent Yozakar fils de Shiméat et Yehozabad fils de Shomer qui le frappèrent, et il mourut. Onl'enterra avec ses pères dans la Cité de David et son fils Amasias régna à sa place.
