1 Some time after this, as Naboth the Jezreelite had a vineyard in Jezreel next to the palace of Ahab, king of Samaria,	1 Danach ereignete sich folgendes: Nabot aus Jezreel hatte daselbst einen Weinberg neben dem Palast Achabs, des Königs von Samaria.
2 Ahab said to Naboth, "Give me your vineyard to be my vegetable garden, since it is close by, next to my house. I will give you a better vineyard in exchange, or, if you prefer, I will give you its value in money."	2 Achab redete mit Nabot: "Gib mir deinen Weinberg; ich will mir einen Gemüsegarten daraus machen; er liegt ja so nahe an meinem Haus. Ich gebe dir dafür einen besseren Weinberg; oder wenn es dir genehm ist, so bezahle ich dir den Kaufpreis in Geld."
3 "The LORD forbid," Naboth answered him, "that I should give you my ancestral heritage."	3 Nabot entgegnete: "Der Herr bewahre mich davor, daß ich das Erbe meiner Väter dir übergebe!"
4 Ahab went home disturbed and angry at the answer Naboth the Jezreelite had made to him: "I will not give you my ancestral heritage." Lying down on his bed, he turned away from food and would not eat.	4 Da begab sich Achab mißmutig und wütend in seinen Palast. Es war um des Wortes willen, das Nabot aus Jezreel ihm geantwortet hatte: "Ich will dir das Erbe meiner Väter nicht übergeben!" Er warf sich auf sein Bett, wandte sein Antlitz ab und nahm keine Nahrung zu sich.
5 His wife Jezebel came to him and said to him, "Why are you so angry that you will not eat?"	5 Seine Frau Isebel kam zu ihm hinein und sprach zu ihm: "Warum bist du so mißmutig und nimmst keine Nahrung zu dir?"
6 He answered her, "Because I spoke to Naboth the Jezreelite and said to him, 'Sell me your vineyard, or, if you prefer, I will give you a vineyard in exchange.' But he refused to let me have his vineyard."	6 Er antwortete ihr: "Ich habe mit Nabot aus Jezreel geredet und ihm vorgeschlagen: Verkaufe mir deinen Weinberg um Geld; oder wenn es dir lieber ist, gebe ich dir einen anderen Weinberg dafür. Doch er hat mir geantwortet: Ich gebe dir meinen Weinberg nicht!"
7 "A fine ruler over Israel you are indeed!" his wife Jezebel said to him. "Get up. Eat and be cheerful. I will obtain the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite for you."	7 Isebel, seine Gemahlin, antwortete darauf: "Du übst doch gegenwärtig die Herrschaft über das Königreich Israel aus! Stehe auf, iß und sei wohlgemut! Ich werde dir den Weinberg des Nabot aus Jezreel schon verschaffen."
8 So she wrote letters in Ahab's name and, having sealed them with his seal, sent them to the elders and to the nobles who lived in the same city with Naboth.	8 Sie schrieb nun Briefe im Namen Achabs, versiegelte sie mit seinem Siegel und schickte sie an die Ältesten und Vornehmen, die mit Nabot in der gleichen Stadt zusammen wohnten.
9 This is what she wrote in the letters: "Proclaim a fast and set Naboth at the head of the people.	9 In den Briefen schrieb sie: "Ruft ein Fasten aus und laßt Nabot an der Spitze der Leute Platz nehmen!
10 Next, get two scoundrels to face him and accuse him of having cursed God and king. Then take him out and stone him to death."	10 Ihm gegenüber aber setzt zwei ruchlose Männer, die wider ihn zu zeugen haben: Du hast Gott und den König gelästert. Dann führt ihn hinaus und steinigt ihn, bis er stirbt!"
11 His fellow citizens--the elders and the nobles who dwelt in his city--did as Jezebel had ordered them in writing, through the letters she had sent them.	11 Die Männer seiner Stadt, die Ältesten und Vornehmen, die in seiner Stadt wohnten, taten, wie Isebel sie anwies nach dem Wortlaut der Briefe, die sie ihnen gesandt hatte.
12 They proclaimed a fast and placed Naboth at the head of the people.	12 Sie riefen ein Fasten aus und ließen Nabot an der Spitze der Leute sitzen.
13 Two scoundrels came in and confronted him with the accusation, "Naboth has cursed God and king." And they led him out of the city and stoned him to death.	13 Die beiden ruchlosen Männer kamen und setzten sich ihm gegenüber. Dann legten sie vor dem Volk gegen Nabot Zeugnis ab und erklärten: "Nabot hat Gott und den König gelästert!" Man führte ihn zur Stadt hinaus und steinigte ihn zu Tode.
14 Then they sent the information to Jezebel that Naboth had been stoned to death.	14 Sodann sandte man zu Isebel und ließ melden: "Nabot wurde gesteinigt; er ist tot."
15 When Jezebel learned that Naboth had been stoned to death, she said to Ahab, "Go on, take possession of the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite which he refused to sell you, because Naboth is not alive, but dead."	15 Als Isebel die Kunde vernahm, daß Nabot gesteinigt und tot sei, forderte sie Achab auf: "Wohlan, ergreife Besitz vom Weinberg Nabots aus Jezreel, den er dir um Geld nicht verkaufen wollte; denn Nabot lebt nicht mehr. Er ist tot!"
16 On hearing that Naboth was dead, Ahab started off on his way down to the vineyard of Naboth the Jezreelite, to take possession of it.	16 Als Achab erfuhr, daß Nabot tot sei, stand er auf, um den Weinberg Nabots aus Jezreel in Besitz zu nehmen.
17 But the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite:	17 Aber das Wort des Herrn erging an Elias aus Tisbe.
18 "Start down to meet Ahab, king of Israel, who rules in Samaria. He will be in the vineyard of Naboth, of which he has come to take possession.	18 "Auf, geh hinab, Achab, dem König von Israel, entgegen, der in Samaria seinen Sitz hat. Er ist gerade in den Weinberg des Nabot hinabgegangen, um von ihm Besitz zu ergreifen.
19 This is what you shall tell him, 'The LORD says: After murdering, do you also take possession? For this, the LORD says: In the place where the dogs licked up the blood of Naboth, the dogs shall lick up your blood, too.'"	19 Sage zu ihm: "So spricht der Herr: Gemordet hast du, und jetzt willst du erben?" Weiter sollst du ihm sagen: "So spricht der Herr: An der Stelle, wo die Hunde das Blut Nabots geleckt haben, werden die Hunde auch dein Blut auflecken!""
20 "Have you found me out, my enemy?" Ahab said to Elijah. "Yes," he answered. "Because you have given yourself up to doing evil in the LORD'S sight,	20 Achab sprach zu Elias: "Hast du mich gefunden, mein Todfeind?" Dieser erwiderte: "Ja, ich habe dich gefunden! Du hast dich dazu hergegeben, zu tun, was dem Herrn mißfällt.
21 I am bringing evil upon you: I will destroy you and will cut off every male in Ahab's line, whether slave or freeman, in Israel.	21 Siehe, ich werde deshalb über dich Unheil bringen und dich hinwegfegen! Ausrotten werde ich von Achab alles Männliche, Sklaven und Freie in Israel.
22 I will make your house like that of Jeroboam, son of Nebat, and like that of Baasha, son of Ahijah, because of how you have provoked me by leading Israel into sin."	22 Ich lasse es deinem Hause ergehen wie dem Hause Jerobeams, des Nebatsohnes, und dem Hause Baschas, des Achiasohnes, wegen der Beleidigung, die du mir zugefügt, und weil du Israel in Sünde gestürzt hast.
23 (Against Jezebel, too, the LORD declared, "The dogs shall devour Jezebel in the district of Jezreel.")	23 Und über Isebel verkündet der Herr: Die Hunde werden Isebel auf dem Feld von Jezreel fressen.
24 "When one of Ahab's line dies in the city, dogs will devour him; when one of them dies in the field, the birds of the sky will devour him."	24 Wer von Achab in der Stadt stirbt, den werden die Hunde fressen, und wer auf freiem Feld stirbt, den werden die Vögel des Himmels verzehren."
25 Indeed, no one gave himself up to the doing of evil in the sight of the LORD as did Ahab, urged on by his wife Jezebel.	25 Es gab wirklich niemanden, der wie Achab sich hergab, das zu tun, was dem Herrn mißfiel. Dazu verführte ihn seine Frau Isebel.
26 He became completely abominable by following idols, just as the Amorites had done, whom the LORD drove out before the Israelites.	26 Er handelte überaus verwerflich und lief den Götzen nach, ganz wie die Amoriter es taten, die der Herr vor den Israeliten vertrieben hat.
27 When Ahab heard these words, he tore his garments and put on sackcloth over his bare flesh. He fasted, slept in the sackcloth, and went about subdued.	27 Als Achab diese Drohworte vernahm, zerriß er seine Kleider, legte ein Bußgewand über seinen nackten Leib, fastete, schlief im Bußgewand und ging bedrückt einher.
28 Then the LORD said to Elijah the Tishbite,	28 Da erging das Wort des Herrn an Elias aus Tisbe:
29 "Have you seen that Ahab has humbled himself before me? Since he has humbled himself before me, I will not bring the evil in his time. I will bring the evil upon his house during the reign of his son."	29 "Hast du bemerkt, wie Achab sich vor mir verdemütigt? Weil er sich nun vor mir verdemütigt, werde ich das Unheil in seinen Tagen nicht kommen lassen. Erst in den Tagen seines Sohnes sende ich Unglück über sein Haus."
