1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,	1 Pál, Jézus Krisztus szolgája, meghívott apostol, akit Isten kiválasztott evangéliuma számára –
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)	2 amelyet Isten előre megígért a szent iratokban prófétái által
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;	3 Fiáról, aki testileg Dávid nemzetségéből született,
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:	4 de akit a szentség Lelke szerint, a halottak közül való föltámadás által Isten hatalmas Fiául rendelt; Jézus Krisztusról, a mi Urunkról,
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:	5 aki által kegyelmet és apostoli megbízást kaptunk minden néphez, hogy engedelmeskedjenek a hit által az ő nevéért
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:	6 – ezek közé tartoztok ti is, Jézus Krisztus meghívottjai –,
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.	7 Isten összes szeretteinek, akik Rómában vannak, a meghívott szenteknek. Kegyelem és békesség nektek Istentől, a mi Atyánktól, és az Úr Jézus Krisztustól!
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.	8 Először is hálát adok Istenemnek Jézus Krisztus által mindnyájatokért, mert az egész világon magasztalják a ti hiteteket.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;	9 Tanúm az Isten, akinek szolgálok lelkemmel Fiának evangéliumában, hogy hogyan emlékezem meg rólatok szüntelenül,
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.	10 s mindenkor könyörgök imádságaimban azért, hogy Isten akaratából végre-valahára sikerüljön valahogyan eljutnom hozzátok.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;	11 Hiszen vágyódom az után, hogy lássalak titeket, és juttassak nektek némi lelki kegyelmet, hogy megerősítselek benneteket,
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.	12 és hogy közöttetek tartózkodva közösen megvigasztalódjunk egymás hite, a tiétek és az enyém által.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.	13 Nem akarom, testvérek, hogy ne tudjátok, milyen sokszor feltettem magamban, hogy elmegyek hozzátok, és hogy elérjek valami eredményt köztetek is, mint ahogy a többi népnél, de mindezideig gátolva voltam.
14 I am debtor both to the Greeks, and to the Barbarians; both to the wise, and to the unwise.	14 Adósa vagyok görögnek és barbárnak, bölcsnek és tudatlannak;
15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.	15 ezért, ami engem illet, megvan bennem a készség, hogy hirdessem az evangéliumot nektek, rómaiaknak is.
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.	16 Nem szégyellem ugyanis az evangéliumot, mert Isten ereje az mindenkinek az üdvösségére, aki hisz, elsősorban a zsidónak, aztán a görögnek.
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.	17 Mert Isten igazsága nyilvánul meg benne, amely a hitből hitre vezet, amint írva van: »Az igaz a hitből él« .
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;	18 Isten haragja megnyilvánul az égből azoknak az embereknek minden gonoszsága és igazságtalansága ellen, akik igazságtalansággal elfojtják az isteni igazságot.
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.	19 Amit ugyanis tudni lehet Istenről, az nyilvánvaló előttük, mert Isten kinyilvánította nekik.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:	20 Hiszen az, ami láthatatlan benne: örök ereje és istensége, a világ teremtése óta alkotásai alapján értelemmel felismerhető. Éppen ezért nincs mentség számukra,
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.	21 mivel ők, bár megismerték Istent, nem dicsőítették őt mint Istent, és nem adtak hálát neki, hanem üressé váltak gondolataikban, és sötétség borult oktalan szívükre.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,	22 Bölcseknek mondogatták magukat, és esztelenek lettek,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.	23 fölcserélték a halhatatlan Isten dicsőségét halandó embereknek, sőt madaraknak, négylábúaknak és csúszómászóknak a képmásával.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:	24 Ezért Isten átadta őket szívük vágya szerint a tisztátalanságnak, hogy maguk becstelenítsék meg testüket,
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.	25 mint olyanok, akik felcserélték Isten igazságát a hazugsággal, és inkább tisztelték és szolgálták a teremtményt, mint a Teremtőt, aki áldott mindörökké. Ámen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:	26 Ezért Isten átadta őket gyalázatos szenvedélyeiknek. Asszonyaik ugyanis elcserélték a természetes érintkezést a természetellenessel.
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.	27 Hasonlóképpen a férfiak is, elhagyva a természetes együttélést az asszonnyal, egymás iránt gerjedtek vágyra, férfiak férfiakkal ocsmányságot műveltek; és így elvették eltévelyedésük illő bérét.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;	28 Ahogy ők nem méltatták Istent arra, hogy megtartsák ismeretükben, úgy Isten is ráhagyta őket romlott értelmükre, hadd tegyék azt, ami nem való;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,	29 hiszen telve vannak mindenféle igazságtalansággal, rosszasággal, kapzsisággal, romlottsággal, telve irigységgel, gyilkossággal, viszálykodással, csalással, gonoszlelkűséggel; árulkodók ők,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,	30 és rágalmazók, Isten előtt gyűlöletesek, gyalázkodók, kevélyek, kérkedők, fortélyos gazok, a szülőkkel szemben engedetlenek,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:	31 ostobák, megbízhatatlanok, szívtelenek, könyörtelenek.
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.	32 Jóllehet megismerték Istennek azt az elhatározását, hogy akik ilyeneket tesznek, méltók a halálra, mégis, nemcsak megteszik, hanem az így cselekvőkkel egyet is értenek.
