Deuteronomy 7

KING JAMES BIBLE	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 When the LORD thy God shall bring thee into the land whither thou goest to possess it, and hath cast out many nations before thee, the Hittites, and the Girgashites, and the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than thou;	1 Cuando el Señor, tu Dios, te introduzca en la tierra de la que vas a tomar posesión, él expulsará a siete naciones más numerosas y fuertes que tú: a los hititas, los guirgasitas, los amorreos, los cananeos, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos.
2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them:	2 El Señor, tu Dios, los pondrá en tus manos, y tú los derrotarás. Entonces los consagrarás al exterminio total: no hagas con ellos ningún pacto, ni les tengas compasión.
3 Neither shalt thou make marriages with them; thy daughter thou shalt not give unto his son, nor his daughter shalt thou take unto thy son.	3 No establezcas vínculos de parentesco con ellos, permitiendo que tu hija se case con uno de sus hijos, o tomando una hija suya por esposa de tu hijo.
4 For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the anger of the LORD be kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.	4 De lo contrario, ella apartará de mí a tu hijo y lo hará servir a otros dioses. Entonces el Señor se irritará contra ustedes y en seguida los exterminará.
5 But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and cut down their groves, and burn their graven images with fire.	5 Por eso, trátenlos de este modo: derriben sus altares, destruyan sus piedras conmemorativas, talen sus postes sagrados y prendan fuego a sus ídolos.
6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.	6 Porque tú eres un pueblo consagrado al Señor, tu Dios: él te eligió para que fueras su pueblo y su propiedad exclusiva entre todos los pueblos de la tierra.
7 The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:	7 El Señor se prendó de ustedes y los eligió, no porque sean el más numeroso de todos los pueblos. al contrario, tú eres el más insignificante de todos.
8 But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.	8 Pero por el amor que les tiene, y para cumplir el juramento que hizo a tus padres, el Señor los hizo salir de Egipto con mano poderosa, y los libró de la esclavitud y del poder del Faraón, rey de Egipto.
9 Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;	9 Reconoce, entonces, que el Señor, tu Dios, es el verdadero Dios, el Dios fiel, que a lo largo de mil generaciones, mantiene su alianza y su fidelidad con aquellos que lo aman y observan sus mandamientos;
10 And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.	10 pero que no tarda en dar su merecido a aquel que lo aborrece, a él mismo en persona, haciéndolo desaparecer.
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.	11 Por eso, observa los mandamientos, los preceptos y las leyes que hoy te ordeno poner en práctica.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the LORD thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:	12 Porque si escuchas estas leyes, las observas y las practicas, el Señor, tu Dios, mantendrá en tu favor la alianza y la fidelidad que juró a tus padres.
13 And he will love thee, and bless thee, and multiply thee: he will also bless the fruit of thy womb, and the fruit of thy land, thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee.	13 El te amará, te bendecirá y te multiplicará. Bendecirá el fruto de tu seno, el fruto de tu suelo –tu trigo, tu vino y tu aceite– y las crías de tus ganados y rebaños, en la tierra que él te dará, porque así lo juró a tus padres.
14 Thou shalt be blessed above all people: there shall not be male or female barren among you, or among your cattle.	14 Serás más bendecido que todos los demás pueblos. Nadie será estéril entre ustedes, ni los hombres, ni las mujeres, ni los animales.
15 And the LORD will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee; but will lay them upon all them that hate thee.	15 El Señor apartará de ti toda enfermedad, y no te infligirá ninguna de esas plagas malignas que envió sobre Egipto, y que tú ya conoces. Las tendrá reservadas, en cambio, para aquellos que te odian.
16 And thou shalt consume all the people which the LORD thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them: neither shalt thou serve their gods; for that will be a snare unto thee.	16 Destruye entonces a todos esos pueblos que el Señor, tu Dios, pone en tus manos. No les tengas compasión ni sirvas a sus dioses, porque eso sería para ti una trampa.
17 If thou shalt say in thine heart, These nations are more than I; how can I dispossess them?	17 Y si alguna vez te preguntas: «¿Cómo voy a desposeer a esas naciones, si son más numerosas que yo?»,
18 Thou shalt not be afraid of them: but shalt well remember what the LORD thy God did unto Pharaoh, and unto all Egypt;	18 no les tengas miedo. Recuerda cómo trató el Señor, tu Dios, al Faraón y a todo Egipto:
19 The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.	19 los grandes portentos que has visto con tus propios ojos y los signos que él realizó, cuando con mano poderosa y brazo fuerte te hizo salir de Egipto. Así tratará el Señor, tu Dios, a todos los pueblos que temes enfrentar.
20 Moreover the LORD thy God will send the hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.	20 Más aún, él hará cundir el pánico en medio de ellos, hasta que todos queden exterminados, incluso los sobrevivientes y los que intenten permanecer ocultos.
21 Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God is among you, a mighty God and terrible.	21 No tiembles delante de ellos, porque en medio de ti está el Señor, tu Dios, el Dios grande y temible,
22 And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.	22 que irá eliminando a tu paso. No podrás exterminarlas de un solo golpe, porque de lo contrario, los animales salvajes se multiplicarían en perjuicio tuyo.
23 But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed.	23 Pero el Señor, tu Dios, te las entregará, y sembrará entre ellas una gran confusión, hasta destruirlas.
24 And he shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven: there shall no man be able to stand before thee, until thou have destroyed them.	24 El pondrá a sus reyes en tus manos, y tú harás desaparecer sus nombres de la tierra. Ninguno te podrá resistir, hasta que los extermines por completo.
25 The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it is an abomination to the LORD thy God.	25 Ustedes, por su parte, prendan fuego a las estatuas de sus dioses. Y no codicies la plata y el oro de que están recubiertas, ni te quedes con ellos, para no caer en una trampa. Porque eso es una abominación para el Señor, tu Dios.
26 Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it: but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it is a cursed thing.	26 No introduzcas en tu casa nada abominable, porque también tú te harías digno de ser consagrado al exterminio. Detesta todo eso y considéralo abominable, porque está consagrado al exterminio.
