Deuteronomy 29

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.	1 Mosè convocò tutto Israele e disse loro: "Voi avete visto tutto ciò che il Signore fece sotto i vostri occhi nella terra d'Egitto contro il faraone, contro tutti i suoi servi e contro tutta la sua terra,
2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;	2 le grandi prove che hanno visto i tuoi occhi, quei segni e prodigi grandiosi.
3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:	3 Ma fino ad oggi il Signore non vi ha dato cuore per capire, occhi per vedere, orecchie per sentire.
4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.	4 Vi ho guidati per quarant'anni nel deserto: non si sono logorati i mantelli addosso a voi, i sandali non si sono logorati ai vostri piedi;
5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.	5 non avete mangiato pane, né avete bevuto vino o bevanda inebriante, perché sappiate che io sono il Signore, vostro Dio.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.	6 Siete arrivati in questo luogo: Sicon re di Chesbon e Og re di Basan ci sono usciti contro in battaglia, ma li abbiamo battuti;
7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:	7 abbiamo preso la loro terra e l'abbiamo data in eredità ai Rubeniti, ai Gaditi e a metà della tribù dei Manassiti.
8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.	8 Osservate le parole di questa alleanza e mettetele in pratica, affinché abbiate successo in tutto ciò che fate.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.	9 Voi state oggi tutti al cospetto del Signore vostro Dio: i vostri capitribù, i vostri giudici, i vostri anziani, i vostri scribi, tutti gli uomini d'Israele,
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,	10 i vostri fanciulli, le vostre donne e il forestiero che è in mezzo al tuo accampamento, da quello che taglia la tua legna a quello che attinge la tua acqua,
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:	11 per entrare nell'alleanza del Signore tuo Dio e nel patto che il Signore tuo Dio stringe con te oggi,
12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:	12 per costituirti oggi come suo popolo, e per essere egli Dio per te, come ti ha detto e come ha giurato ai tuoi padri, ad Abramo, a Isacco e a Giacobbe.
13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.	13 Non con voi soltanto io sancisco questa alleanza e questo patto,
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;	14 ma tanto con chi sta qui con noi oggi al cospetto del Signore nostro Dio, quanto con chi non è qui con noi oggi.
15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:	15 Perché voi sapete come abbiamo abitato nella terra d'Egitto e come siamo passati in mezzo alle nazioni che avete attraversato;
16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;	16 avete visto le loro nefandezze e gl'idoli di legno e pietra, di argento e oro che sono presso di loro.
17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)	17 Non vi sia tra voi uomo o donna, famiglia o tribù il cui cuore si allontani oggi dal Signore nostro Dio per andare a servire gli dèi di quelle nazioni. Non vi sia tra di voi nessuna radice che produca veleno e assenzio!
18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;	18 Se, nell'ascoltare le parole di questo patto, qualcuno si benedice nel proprio cuore, dicendo: "Avrò pace anche camminando nella caparbietà del mio cuore, rendendo irriguo l'arido",
19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:	19 il Signore non acconsentirà a perdonarlo, ché anzi la collera e la gelosia del Signore si infiammeranno contro quell'uomo e tutte le imprecazioni scritte in questo libro scenderanno sopra di lui: il Signore cancellerà il suo nome sotto il cielo,
20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.	20 per sua sventura lo separerà da tutte le tribù d'Israele, secondo tutte le imprecazioni dell'alleanza scritta in questo libro della legge.
21 And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:	21 La generazione futura, i vostri figli che sorgeranno dopo di voi e lo straniero che verrà da una terra lontana vedranno i flagelli di questa terra e le malattie che il Signore le infliggerà e diranno:
22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;	22 "Zolfo, sale, arsura è tutta la sua terra! Non sarà seminata, non darà alcun germoglio, su di essa non crescerà erba alcuna; è come la distruzione di Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma e Zeboim che il Signore distrusse nella sua ira e nel suo furore".
23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:	23 E tutte le nazioni diranno: "Perché il Signore ha fatto così a questa terra? Perché l'ardore di questa grande ira?".
24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?	24 E risponderanno: "Perché hanno abbandonato l'alleanza del Signore, Dio dei loro padri, che egli aveva stretto con loro quando uscirono dalla terra d'Egitto,
25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:	25 e sono andati a servire altri dèi prostrandosi innanzi a loro: dèi che non avevano conosciuto e che non aveva dato loro in sorte;
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:	26 allora si è infiammata la collera del Signore contro questa terra, così da farle venir sopra tutte le maledizioni scritte in questo libro.
27 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:	27 Il Signore li ha strappati dalla loro terra con collera, con furore e con grande indignazione e li ha gettati su un'altra terra, com'è fino ad oggi".
28 And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.	28 Le cose occulte sono del Signore nostro Dio, ma le cose rivelate sono nostre e dei nostri figli per sempre, affinché mettiamo in pratica tutte le parole di questa legge.
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
