Deuteronomy 29

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the LORD commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.	1 E Mosè convocò tutto Israele, e disse loro: Voi vedeste tutto quello che fece il Signore dinanzi a voi nella terra d'Egitto a Faraone, e a tutti i suoi servi, e a tutto il suo regno;
2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the LORD did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;	2 Quelle grandi tribolazioni, e que’ segni e prodigii grandiosi, de quali foste voi spettatori;
3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:	3 E fino al dì d'oggi non ha dato a voi il Signore un cuore intelligente, né occhi veggenti, né orecchie capaci di udire.
4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.	4 Egli fu vostra guida per quarant' anni nel deserto: non si logoraron le vostre vesti, e i calzari dei vostri piedi non si consumarono per vecchiezza.
5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.	5 Non mangiaste pane, né beveste vino, o sicera, affinché conosceste, com'io Dio vostro sono il Signore.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the LORD your God.	6 E giungeste a questo luogo: e si mossero Sehon re di Hesebon, e Og re di Basan per venire a combatterci. E noi li mettemmo in rotta:
7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:	7 E occupammo il loro paese, e ne demmo il dominio a Ruben, e a Gad, e a mezza la tribù di Manasse.
8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.	8 Osservate adunque le condizioni di quest'alleanza, e adempitele affinché in tutto quello che fate, siate intelligenti.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.	9 Voi state tutti quest’oggi dinanzi al Signore Dio vostro, i principi delle vostre tribù, e i seniori, e i dottori, e tutto il popolo d'Israele,
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the LORD your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,	10 I vostri figliuoli, e le vostre mogli, e i forestieri, che dimorano tra di voi negli alloggiamenti, eccetto quelli che taglian le legna, e que’ che portano l’acqua,
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:	11 Per entrare nell’alleanza del Signore Dio tuo, alleanza giurata in quest’oggi dal Signore Dio tuo con te:
12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the LORD thy God, and into his oath, which the LORD thy God maketh with thee this day:	12 Ond'egli ti scelga in suo popolo, ed egli sia il tuo Dio, come promise a te, e come lo giurò a' padri tuoi Abramo, Isacco e Giacobbe.
13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.	13 E non per voi soli io stringo oggi quest'alleanza, e la confermo con giuramento,
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;	14 Ma per tutti quelli che sono qui, e per quelli che qui non sono.
15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the LORD our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:	15 Imperocché voi sapete, come noi abitammo nella terra d'Egitto, e come passammo per mezzo alle nazioni, e in passandovi,
16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;	16 Voi vedeste le abbominazioni, e le sozzure, cioè a dire i loro idoli, il legno, la pietra, l’oro, l’argento, ch'elle adoravano.
17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)	17 Non siavi tra voi uomo, o donna, famiglia, o tribù, che abbia oggi il cuore alieno dal Signore Dio nostro; onde vada a servire agli dei di queste nazioni, e spunti tra voi questa radice che germini fiele e amaritudine.
18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;	18 E costui avendo udite le parole della giurata alleanza si lusinghi in cuor suo, e dica: Io me ne starò in pace, e seguirò la pravità del mio cuore: e l'ebbro conduca in rovina colui che soffre la sete,
19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:	19 Non gli perdonerà il Signore: ma allora massimamente fumerà il suo sdegno, e lo zelo di lui contro questo tale, e sopra di lui poseranno tutte le maledizioni, che sono scritte in questo volume: e il Signore farà che più non resti memoria di lui sotto del cielo,
20 The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.	20 E lo sterminerà in perpetuo da tutte le tribù d'Israele secondo le maledizioni contenute in questo libro della legge, e della alleanza.
21 And the LORD shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:	21 E la generazione che succederà, e i fanciulli nati in appresso, e i forestieri venuti da lungi, in veggendo le piaghe di questo paese, e i mali, onde lo affliggerà il Signore,
22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the LORD hath laid upon it;	22 (II quale lo brucerà col zolfo, e col sale ardente, talmente che più non ci si faccia sementa, e nulla di verde ci pulluli, a similitudine della distruzione di Sodoma, e di Gomorra, di Adama, e di Seboim rovinate dal Signore nel furore dell'ira sua),
23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:	23 Diranno (e con essi tutte le genti): Per qual motivo ha egli il Signore trattato così questo paese? che ira, e furore immenso è mai questo?
24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?	24 E sarà loro risposto: perché hanno messo in non cale il patto fermato dal Signore co' padri loro, allorché dalla terra d’Egitto li trasse:
25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:	25 Ed ei servirono alle straniere divinità, e queste adorarono, le quali eglino non conoscevano, ed alle quali non erano stati sottomessi:
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:	26 Per questo si è acceso il furor del Signore contro di questa terra sino a piovere sopra di lei tutte le maledizioni che in questo libro sono descritte:
27 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:	27 E nel furore dell'ira sua, e nella somma sua indegnazione gli ha discacciati dalla loro terra: e gli ha gettati in una terra straniera, com'oggi si fa manifesto:
28 And the LORD rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.	28 Segreti del Signore Dio nostro, disvelati a noi, e a' nostri figliuoli in perpetuo, affinché mettiamo in esecuzione tutte quante le parole di questa legge.
29 The secret things belong unto the LORD our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
