Matthew 7

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Judge not, that ye be not judged.	1 "Ne jugez pas, afin de n'être pas jugés;
2 For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.	2 car, du jugement dont vous jugez on vous jugera, et de la mesure dont vous mesurez on mesurerapour vous.
3 And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?	3 Qu'as-tu à regarder la paille qui est dans l'oeil de ton frère? Et la poutre qui est dans ton oeil à toi,tu ne la remarques pas!
4 Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?	4 Ou bien comment vas-tu dire à ton frère: Laisse-moi ôter la paille de ton oeil, et voilà que la poutreest dans ton oeil!
5 Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.	5 Hypocrite, ôte d'abord la poutre de ton oeil, et alors tu verras clair pour ôter la paille de l'oeil deton frère.
6 Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.	6 "Ne donnez pas aux chiens ce qui est sacré, ne jetez pas vos perles devant les porcs, de craintequ'ils ne les piétinent, puis se retournent contre vous pour vous déchirer.
7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:	7 "Demandez et l'on vous donnera; cherchez et vous trouverez; frappez et l'on vous ouvrira.
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.	8 Car quiconque demande reçoit; qui cherche trouve; et à qui frappe on ouvrira.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?	9 Quel est d'entre vous l'homme auquel son fils demandera du pain, et qui lui remettra une pierre?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?	10 Ou encore, s'il lui demande un poisson, lui remettra-t-il un serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?	11 Si donc vous, qui êtes mauvais, vous savez donner de bonnes choses à vos enfants, combien plusvotre Père qui est dans les cieux en donnera-t-il de bonnes à ceux qui l'en prient!
12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.	12 "Ainsi, tout ce que vous voulez que les hommes fassent pour vous, faites-le vous-mêmes poureux: voilà la Loi et les Prophètes.
13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:	13 "Entrez par la porte étroite. Large, en effet, et spacieux est le chemin qui mène à la perdition, et ilen est beaucoup qui s'y engagent;
14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.	14 mais étroite est la porte et resserré le chemin qui mène à la Vie, et il en est peu qui le trouvent.
15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.	15 "Méfiez-vous des faux prophètes, qui viennent à vous déguisés en brebis, mais au-dedans sontdes loups rapaces.
16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?	16 C'est à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez. Cueille-t-on des raisins sur des épines? Ou desfigues sur des chardons?
17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.	17 Ainsi tout arbre bon produit de bons fruits, tandis que l'arbre gâté produit de mauvais fruits.
18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.	18 Un bon arbre ne peut porter de mauvais fruits, ni un arbre gâté porter de bons fruits.
19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.	19 Tout arbre qui ne donne pas un bon fruit, on le coupe et on le jette au feu.
20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.	20 Ainsi donc, c'est à leurs fruits que vous les reconnaîtrez.
21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.	21 "Ce n'est pas en me disant: Seigneur, Seigneur, qu'on entrera dans le Royaume des Cieux, maisc'est en faisant la volonté de mon Père qui est dans les cieux.
22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?	22 Beaucoup me diront en ce jour-là: Seigneur, Seigneur, n'est-ce pas en ton nom que nous avonsprophétisé? En ton nom que nous avons chassé les démons? En ton nom que nous avons fait bien des miracles?
23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.	23 Alors je leur dirai en face: Jamais je ne vous ai connus; écartez-vous de moi, vous qui commettezl'iniquité.
24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:	24 "Ainsi, quiconque écoute ces paroles que je viens de dire et les met en pratique, peut se comparerà un homme avisé qui a bâti sa maison sur le roc.
25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.	25 La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et se sont déchaînés contre cettemaison, et elle n'a pas croulé: c'est qu'elle avait été fondée sur le roc.
26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:	26 Et quiconque entend ces paroles que je viens de dire et ne les met pas en pratique, peut secomparer à un homme insensé qui a bâti sa maison sur le sable.
27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.	27 La pluie est tombée, les torrents sont venus, les vents ont soufflé et se sont rués sur cette maison,et elle s'est écroulée. Et grande a été sa ruine!"
28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine:	28 Et il advint, quand Jésus eut achevé ces discours, que les foules étaient frappées de sonenseignement:
29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.	29 car il les enseignait en homme qui a autorité, et non pas comme leurs scribes.
