1 And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;	1 Jésus avait terminé son discours; il quitta la Galilée et arriva aux frontières de la Judée par l’autre rive du Jourdain.
2 And great multitudes followed him; and he healed them there.	2 Une foule de gens était à ses côtés, et là encore il les guérissait.
3 The Pharisees also came unto him, tempting him, and saying unto him, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for every cause?	3 C’est alors que des Pharisiens viennent à lui et le mettent à l’épreuve avec cette question: "Un homme est-il autorisé à renvoyer sa femme pour n’importe quelle raison?”
4 And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,	4 Il leur fait cette réponse: "Vous n’avez donc pas lu que le Créateur au commencement les fit homme et femme
5 And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?	5 et dit: Pour cette raison l’homme quittera son père et sa mère; il s’attachera à sa femme et les deux seront une seule chair?
6 Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.	6 De sorte qu’ils ne sont plus deux mais une seule chair. Que l’homme ne sépare pas ce que Dieu a uni.”
7 They say unto him, Why did Moses then command to give a writing of divorcement, and to put her away?	7 Les Pharisiens lui disent: "Mais alors, pourquoi Moïse a-t-il demandé de donner un certificat de renvoi avant de divorcer?”
8 He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.	8 Il leur dit: "Moïse vous a permis de renvoyer vos épouses, mais c’est à cause de votre conscience endurcie. Ce n’était pas ainsi au commencement,
9 And I say unto you, Whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be for fornication, and shall marry another, committeth adultery: and whoso marrieth her which is put away doth commit adultery.	9 et moi je vous dis que celui qui renvoie sa femme - je ne parle pas du cas d’infidélité - et en épouse une autre, commet l’adultère.”
10 His disciples say unto him, If the case of the man be so with his wife, it is not good to marry.	10 Les disciples lui disent: "Si tel est le statut de l’homme et de la femme, il vaut mieux ne pas se marier.”
11 But he said unto them, All men cannot receive this saying, save they to whom it is given.	11 Et Jésus leur dit: "Voilà une chose que tous ne comprennent pas: il faut avoir reçu ce don.
12 For there are some eunuchs, which were so born from their mother's womb: and there are some eunuchs, which were made eunuchs of men: and there be eunuchs, which have made themselves eunuchs for the kingdom of heaven's sake. He that is able to receive it, let him receive it.	12 Il y a des eunuques qui le sont de naissance; il y en a qui ont été mutilés par les hommes; et il y en a d’autres qui se sont voulus tels pour le Royaume des Cieux. Que celui qui peut comprenne!”
13 Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.	13 À ce moment-là on lui amena des enfants pour qu’il prie pour eux en leur imposant les mains. Mais les disciples les recevaient très mal.
14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.	14 Alors Jésus dit: "Laissez les enfants et ne les empêchez pas de venir près de moi. Sachez que le Royaume des Cieux est pour ceux qui leur ressemblent.”
15 And he laid his hands on them, and departed thence.	15 Jésus leur imposa les mains et reprit son chemin.
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?	16 Un homme vint à Jésus avec ces paroles: "Maître, que puis-je faire de bien pour avoir la vie éternelle?”
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.	17 Jésus lui dit: "Pourquoi m’interroges-tu sur ce qui est bon? Lui est bon, lui seul! Mais si tu veux entrer dans la vie, garde les commandements.”
18 He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,	18 L’autre demande: "Quels commandements?” Jésus dit: "Tu ne tueras pas, tu ne commettras pas d’adultère, tu ne voleras pas, tu ne feras pas de faux témoignage,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.	19 honore ton père et ta mère. Et encore: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.”
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?	20 Le jeune homme lui répond: "J’ai observé tout cela; que me manque-t-il encore?”
21 Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.	21 Jésus lui dit: "Si tu veux être parfait, va, vends tout ce que tu as et donne-le aux pauvres pour avoir un trésor dans le ciel. Ensuite, reviens et suis-moi.”
22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.	22 En entendant ces paroles, le jeune homme s’éloigna fort peiné, car c’était un gros propriétaire.
23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.	23 Jésus dit alors à ses disciples: "En vérité, je vous le dis, il est difficile pour un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume des Cieux.
24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.	24 Oui, je vous le répète, il est plus facile pour un chameau de passer par le trou d’une aiguille, que pour un riche d’entrer dans le Royaume de Dieu.”
25 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, saying, Who then can be saved?	25 En entendant cela, les disciples restent abasourdis. Ils lui disent: "Mais alors, qui peut être sauvé?”
26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.	26 Jésus les regarde bien en face et leur dit: "Pour les hommes, c’est une chose impossible, mais pour Dieu tout est possible.”
27 Then answered Peter and said unto him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore?	27 Pierre prend alors la parole et lui dit: "Maître, nous avons tout laissé pour te suivre: y aura-t-il quelque chose pour nous?”
28 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.	28 Et Jésus leur déclare: "En vérité je vous le dis à vous qui m’avez suivi: lorsque viendra le monde nouveau et que le Fils de l’Homme siégera sur son trône dans la gloire, vous aussi vous siégerez sur douze trônes pour gouverner les douze tribus d’Israël.
29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name's sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.	29 “Quant à ceux qui laissent leur maison, leurs frères et sœurs, leur père et leur mère et même leurs enfants avec leurs champs à cause de mon nom, ils recevront cent fois plus, et ils auront aussi la vie éternelle.
30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.	30 “Beaucoup qui sont parmi les premiers seront derniers, et d’autres qui sont derniers seront premiers.”
