1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	1 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit :
2 Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every leper, and every one that hath an issue, and whosoever is defiled by the dead:	2 Ordonne aux enfants d'Israël de chasser du camp tout lépreux, et celui qui aura une gonorrhée, ou (et) qui sera devenu impur pour avoir touché un mort.
3 Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they defile not their camps, in the midst whereof I dwell.	3 Chassez-les du camp, que ce soit un homme ou une femme, de peur qu'ils ne souillent le lieu dans lequel je demeure au milieu de vous.
4 And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.	4 (Et) Les enfants d'Israël firent ce qui leur avait été commandé, et ils chassèrent ces personnes hors du camp, selon que le Seigneur l'avait ordonné à Moïse.
5 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	5 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit :
6 Speak unto the children of Israel, When a man or woman shall commit any sin that men commit, to do a trespass against the LORD, and that person be guilty;	6 Dis ceci aux enfants d'Israël : Lorsqu'un homme ou une femme auront commis quelqu'un des péchés qui arrivent d'ordinaire aux hommes et qu'ils auront violé par négligence le commandement du Seigneur, et seront tombés en faute,
7 Then they shall confess their sin which they have done: and he shall recompense his trespass with the principal thereof, and add unto it the fifth part thereof, and give it unto him against whom he hath trespassed.	7 ils confesseront leur péché, et ils rendront à celui contre qui ils ont péché le juste prix du tort qu'ils lui auront fait, en y ajoutant encore un cinquième.
8 But if the man have no kinsman to recompense the trespass unto, let the trespass be recompensed unto the LORD, even to the priest; beside the ram of the atonement, whereby an atonement shall be made for him.	8 (Mais) S'il ne se trouve personne à qui cette restitution ne puisse (se) faire, ils la donneront au Seigneur, et elle appartiendra au prêtre, outre le bélier qui s'offre pour l'expiation, afin que l'hostie soit reçue favorablement du Seigneur.
9 And every offering of all the holy things of the children of Israel, which they bring unto the priest, shall be his.	9 Toutes les prémices qui s'offrent par les enfants d'Israël appartiennent aussi au prêtre ;
10 And every man's hallowed things shall be his: whatsoever any man giveth the priest, it shall be his.	10 et tout ce qui est offert au sanctuaire par les particuliers, et (re)mis entre les mains du prêtre, appartiendra au prêtre.
11 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	11 Le Seigneur parla encore à Moïse, et lui dit :
12 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man's wife go aside, and commit a trespass against him,	12 Parle aux enfants d'Israël, et dis-leur : Lorsqu'une femme sera tombée en faute et que, méprisant son mari,
13 And a man lie with her carnally, and it be hid from the eyes of her husband, and be kept close, and she be defiled, and there be no witness against her, neither she be taken with the manner;	13 elle se sera approchée d'un autre homme, en sorte que son mari n'ait pu découvrir la chose, et que son adultère demeure caché, sans qu'elle en puisse être convaincue par des témoins, parce qu'elle n'a point été surprise dans ce crime ;
14 And the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the spirit of jealousy come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:	14 si le mari est transporté de l'esprit de jalousie contre sa femme qui aura été souillée véritablement, ou qui en est accusée par un faux soupçon,
15 Then shall the man bring his wife unto the priest, and he shall bring her offering for her, the tenth part of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil upon it, nor put frankincense thereon; for it is an offering of jealousy, an offering of memorial, bringing iniquity to remembrance.	15 il la mènera devant le prêtre, et présentera pour elle en offrande la dixième partie d'une mesure de farine d'orge. Il ne répandra point d'huile par-dessus, et il n'y mettra pas d'encens ; parce que c'est un sacrifice de jalousie, et une oblation pour découvrir l'adultère.
16 And the priest shall bring her near, and set her before the LORD:	16 Le prêtre la présentera donc et la fera tenir debout devant le Seigneur ;
17 And the priest shall take holy water in an earthen vessel; and of the dust that is in the floor of the tabernacle the priest shall take, and put it into the water:	17 et ayant pris de l'eau sainte dans un vase de terre, il y mettra un peu de terre prise sur le pavé du tabernacle.
18 And the priest shall set the woman before the LORD, and uncover the woman's head, and put the offering of memorial in her hands, which is the jealousy offering: and the priest shall have in his hand the bitter water that causeth the curse:	18 Alors la femme se tenant debout devant le Seigneur, le prêtre lui découvrira la tête, et il lui mettra sur les mains le sacrifice destiné à renouveler le souvenir de son crime, et l'oblation de la jalousie ; et il tiendra lui-même entre ses mains les eaux très amères sur lesquelles il aura prononcé les malédictions avec exécration.
19 And the priest shall charge her by an oath, and say unto the woman, If no man have lain with thee, and if thou hast not gone aside to uncleanness with another instead of thy husband, be thou free from this bitter water that causeth the curse:	19 Il adjurera la femme, et lui dira : Si un homme étranger ne s'est point approché de toi, et que tu ne te sois point souillée en quittant le lit de ton mari, ces eaux très amères, que j'ai chargées de malédictions, ne te nuiront point.
20 But if thou hast gone aside to another instead of thy husband, and if thou be defiled, and some man have lain with thee beside thine husband:	20 Mais si tu t'es retirée de ton mari, et que tu te sois souillée en t'approchant d'un autre homme,
21 Then the priest shall charge the woman with an oath of cursing, and the priest shall say unto the woman, The LORD make thee a curse and an oath among thy people, when the LORD doth make thy thigh to rot, and thy belly to swell;	21 ces malédictions tomberont sur toi. Que le Seigneur te rende un objet de malédiction et un exemple pour tout son peuple ; qu'il fasse pourrir ta cuisse, et que ton ventre (sein) s'enfle, et qu'il éclate enfin ;
22 And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make thy belly to swell, and thy thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.	22 que ces eaux de malédiction entrent dans ton ventre, et qu'après qu'il aura enflé (ton sein), ta cuisse se pourrisse. Et la femme répondra : Qu'il en soit ainsi, qu'il en soit ainsi (Amen, amen).
23 And the priest shall write these curses in a book, and he shall blot them out with the bitter water:	23 Alors le prêtre écrira ces malédictions sur un livre, et il les effacera ensuite avec ces eaux très amères qu'il aura chargées de malédictions,
24 And he shall cause the woman to drink the bitter water that causeth the curse: and the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter.	24 et il les lui donnera à boire. Lorsqu'elle les aura prises,
25 Then the priest shall take the jealousy offering out of the woman's hand, and shall wave the offering before the LORD, and offer it upon the altar:	25 le prêtre lui retirera des mains le sacrifice de jalousie, il l'élèvera devant le Seigneur, et il le mettra sur l'autel ; en sorte néanmoins
26 And the priest shall take an handful of the offering, even the memorial thereof, and burn it upon the altar, and afterward shall cause the woman to drink the water.	26 qu'il ait séparé auparavant une poignée de ce qui est offert en sacrifice, afin de la faire brûler sur l'autel, et qu'alors il donne à boire à la femme les eaux très amères.
27 And when he hath made her to drink the water, then it shall come to pass, that, if she be defiled, and have done trespass against her husband, that the water that causeth the curse shall enter into her, and become bitter, and her belly shall swell, and her thigh shall rot: and the woman shall be a curse among her people.	27 Lorsqu'elle les aura bues, si elle a été souillée, et qu'elle ait méprisé son mari en se rendant coupable d'adultère, elle sera pénétrée par ces eaux de malédiction, son ventre s'enflera, et sa cuisse pourrira ; et cette femme deviendra un objet de malédiction et un exemple pour tout le peuple.
28 And if the woman be not defiled, but be clean; then she shall be free, and shall conceive seed.	28 Que si elle n'a point été souillée, elle n'en ressentira aucun mal, et elle aura des enfants.
29 This is the law of jealousies, when a wife goeth aside to another instead of her husband, and is defiled;	29 C'est là la loi de jalousie. Si, la (une) femme s'étant retirée d'auprès de son mari et s'étant souillée,
30 Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.	30 le (son) mari, poussé par un esprit de jalousie, l'amène devant le Seigneur, et si le prêtre fait tout ce qui a été écrit ici,
31 Then shall the man be guiltless from iniquity, and this woman shall bear her iniquity.	31 le mari sera exempt de faute, et la femme recevra la peine de son crime (châtiment de son iniquité).
