1 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,	1 El Señor dijo a Moisés en las estepas de Moab, junto al Jordán, a la altura de Jericó:
2 Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.	2 Ordena a los israelitas que cedan a los levitas, de su patrimonio hereditario, ciudades para vivir y campos de pastoreo alrededor de las mismas.
3 And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.	3 Las ciudades les servirán de morada, y los campos de pastoreo serán para su ganado y sus otros animales.
4 And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.	4 Los campos de pastoreo de las ciudades que ustedes cederán a los levitas, se extenderán hasta quinientos metros alrededor de la ciudad, a partir de las murallas.
5 And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.	5 Ustedes medirán fuera de la ciudad, mil metros hacia el este, mil hacia el sur, mil hacia el oeste, y mil hacia el norte, tomando la ciudad como centro: estos serán los campos de pastoreo para las ciudades.
6 And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.	6 Las ciudades que cederán a los levitas serán las seis ciudades de refugio que ustedes deben separar para que los homicidas puedan huir a ellas, añadiendo además, otras cuarenta y dos.
7 So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.	7 Así darán a los levitas un total de cuarenta y ocho ciudades, todas ellas con sus campos de pastoreo.
8 And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.	8 Cuando cedan esas ciudades, tomándolas de lo que es propiedad de los israelitas, exigirán más de los grupos numerosos, y menos de los grupos más pequeños, y menos de los grupos más pequeños. De esta manera, cada uno cederá a los levitas una cantidad de ciudades proporcionada a la herencia que haya recibido.
9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,	9 Luego el Señor dijo a Moisés:
10 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;	10 Habla en estos términos a los israelitas: Cuando crucen el Jordán para entrar en la tierra de Canaán,
11 Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.	11 encontrarán ciudades que les servirán como ciudades de refugio, donde puedan huir los homicidas que hay matado a alguien involuntariamente.
12 And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.	12 Esas ciudades servirán de refugio contra el vengador del homicidio, y así el homicida no morirá sin haber comparecido delante de la comunidad para ser juzgado.
13 And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.	13 Ustedes tendrán que señalar seis ciudades de refugio:
14 Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.	14 tres el otro lado del Jordán y tres en el territorio de Canaán.
15 These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.	15 Esas seis ciudades podrán servir de refugio no sólo a los israelitas, sino también a los extranjeros residentes o que estén de paso entre ustedes, de manera que todo el que haya matado a otro involuntariamente, pueda refugiarse en ellas.
16 And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.	16 Pero el que mata a otro golpeándolo con un objeto de hierro, es un asesino, y el asesino será castigado con la muerte.
17 And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.	17 Si lo mata de una pedrada capaz de causar la muerte, es un asesino, y el asesino será castigado con la muerte.
18 Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.	18 Si lo mata golpeándolo con un palo capaz de causar la muerte, es un asesino, y el asesino será castigado con la muerte.
19 The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.	19 El vengador del homicidio en persona debe matar al asesino apenas lo encuentre.
20 But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;	20 Si el homicida mató a la víctima por odio, o si le arrojó intencionalmente un objeto capaz de causar la muerte,
21 Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.	21 o si por enemistad lo hirió a golpes de puño hasta matarlo, el agresor será castigado con la muerte: es un asesino, y el vengador del homicidio lo matará apenas lo encuentre.
22 But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,	22 Pero si lo hirió fortuitamente, sin que mediara enemistad, o si le arrojó un objeto sin intención de alcanzarlo,
23 Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:	23 o si dejó caer sobre él, inadvertidamente, una piedra capaz de matarlo y de esa manera le causó la muerte, sin tener odio contra él y sin desearle ningún mal,
24 Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:	24 la comunidad juzgará, conforme a estas reglas, entre el homicida y el vengador del homicidio,
25 And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.	25 y librará a aquel de las manos de este. Luego la comunidad lo hará volver a la ciudad de refugio, adonde había huido, y él permanecerá allí hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote que ha sido ungido con el óleo santo.
26 But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;	26 Si el homicida sale de la ciudad de refugio adonde había huido,
27 And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:	27 y el vengador del homicidio lo encuentra fuera de los límites de su ciudad de refugio, lo podrá matar sin temor a ninguna represalia,
28 Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.	28 porque el homicida debe permanecer en su ciudad de refugio hasta la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote, y solamente después podrá volver al lugar donde está su propiedad.
29 So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.	29 Estas disposiciones serán una norma jurídica para ustedes y para sus descendientes, en cualquier lugar donde se encuentren.
30 Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.	30 Si alguien mata a una persona, el homicida será condenado a muerte por la declaración de testigos, pero el testimonio de uno solo no basta para condenar a muerte a alguien.
31 Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.	31 No aceptarán ningún rescate por la vida de un asesino, porque debe morir,
32 And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.	32 Tampoco lo aceptarán de aquel que huyó a su ciudad de refugio, permitiéndole que habite nuevamente en su propia tierra antes de la muerte del Sumo Sacerdote.
33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.	33 No profanen la tierra donde viven, porque la sangre profana la tierra, y no hay para la tierra otra expiación por la sangre derramada, que la sangre de aquel que la derramó.
34 Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.	34 No hagas impuro el país donde vives y en el cual yo habito. Porque yo, el Señor, habito entre los israelitas.
