KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven oxen and seven rams.	1 Balaam dit à Balaq: "Bâtis-moi ici sept autels, et fournis-moi ici sept taureaux et sept béliers."
2 And Balak did as Balaam had spoken; and Balak and Balaam offered on every altar a bullock and a ram.	2 Balaq fit comme avait dit Balaam et offrit en holocauste un taureau et un bélier sur chaque autel.
3 And Balaam said unto Balak, Stand by thy burnt offering, and I will go: peradventure the LORD will come to meet me: and whatsoever he sheweth me I will tell thee. And he went to an high place.	3 Balaam dit alors à Balaq: "Tiens-toi debout près de tes holocaustes tandis que j'irai. Peut-êtreYahvé fera-t-il que je le rencontre? Ce qu'il me fera voir, je te le révélerai." Et il s'en alla sur une une collinedénudée.
4 And God met Balaam: and he said unto him, I have prepared seven altars, and I have offered upon every altar a bullock and a ram.	4 Or Dieu vint à la rencontre de Balaam, qui lui dit: "J'ai disposé les sept autels et j'ai offert enholocauste un taureau et un bélier sur chaque autel."
5 And the LORD put a word in Balaam's mouth, and said, Return unto Balak, and thus thou shalt speak.	5 Yahvé lui mit alors une parole dans la bouche, et lui dit: "Retourne auprès de Balaq et c'est ainsique tu parleras."
6 And he returned unto him, and, lo, he stood by his burnt sacrifice, he, and all the princes of Moab.	6 Balaam retourna donc auprès de lui; il le trouva toujours debout près de son holocauste, avec tousles princes de Moab.
7 And he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob, and come, defy Israel.	7 Il prononça son poème: "Balaq me fait venir d'Aram, le roi de Moab, des monts de Qédem:Viens, maudis-moi Jacob, viens, fulmine contre Israël.
8 How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?	8 Comment maudirais-je quand Dieu ne maudit pas? Comment fulminerais-je quand Dieu nefulmine pas?
9 For from the top of the rocks I see him, and from the hills I behold him: lo, the people shall dwell alone, and shall not be reckoned among the nations.	9 Oui, de la crête du rocher je le vois, du haut des collines je le regarde. Voici un peuple qui habiteà part, il n'est pas rangé parmi les nations.
10 Who can count the dust of Jacob, and the number of the fourth part of Israel? Let me die the death of the righteous, and let my last end be like his!	10 Qui pourrait compter la poussière de Jacob? Qui pourrait dénombrer la nuée d'Israël? Puissé-jemourir de la mort des justes! Puisse ma fin être comme la leur!"
11 And Balak said unto Balaam, What hast thou done unto me? I took thee to curse mine enemies, and, behold, thou hast blessed them altogether.	11 Balaq dit à Balaam: "Que m'as-tu fait! Je t'avais pris pour maudire mes ennemis et tu prononcessur eux des bénédictions!"
12 And he answered and said, Must I not take heed to speak that which the LORD hath put in my mouth?	12 Balaam reprit: "Ne dois-je pas prendre soin de dire ce que Yahvé me met dans la bouche?"
13 And Balak said unto him, Come, I pray thee, with me unto another place, from whence thou mayest see them: thou shalt see but the utmost part of them, and shalt not see them all: and curse me them from thence.	13 Balaq lui dit: "Viens donc ailleurs avec moi. Ce peuple que tu vois d'ici, tu n'en vois qu'uneextrémité, tu ne le vois pas tout entier. Maudis-le-moi de là-bas."
14 And he brought him into the field of Zophim, to the top of Pisgah, and built seven altars, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.	14 Il l'emmena au Champ des Guetteurs, vers le sommet du Pisga. Il y bâtit sept autels et offrit enholocauste un taureau et un bélier sur chaque autel.
15 And he said unto Balak, Stand here by thy burnt offering, while I meet the LORD yonder.	15 Balaam dit à Balaq: "Tiens-toi debout près de tes holocaustes, tandis que moi j'irai attendre."
16 And the LORD met Balaam, and put a word in his mouth, and said, Go again unto Balak, and say thus.	16 Dieu vint à la rencontre de Balaam, il lui mit une parole dans la bouche et lui dit: "Retourneauprès de Balaq, et c'est ainsi que tu parleras."
17 And when he came to him, behold, he stood by his burnt offering, and the princes of Moab with him. And Balak said unto him, What hath the LORD spoken?	17 Il retourna donc auprès de Balaq; il le trouva toujours debout près de ses holocaustes, avec tousles princes de Moab. "Qu'a dit Yahvé?" Lui demanda Balaq.
18 And he took up his parable, and said, Rise up, Balak, and hear; hearken unto me, thou son of Zippor:	18 Et Balaam prononça son poème: "Lève-toi, Balaq, et écoute, prête-moi l'oreille, fils de Cippor.
19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?	19 Dieu n'est pas homme, pour qu'il mente, ni fils d'Adam, pour qu'il se rétracte. Est-ce lui qui ditet ne fait pas, qui parle et n'accomplit pas?
20 Behold, I have received commandment to bless: and he hath blessed; and I cannot reverse it.	20 J'ai reçu la charge d'une bénédiction, je bénirai et je ne me reprendrai pas.
21 He hath not beheld iniquity in Jacob, neither hath he seen perverseness in Israel: the LORD his God is with him, and the shout of a king is among them.	21 Je n'ai pas aperçu de mal en Jacob ni vu de souffrance en Israël. Yahvé son Dieu est avec lui;chez lui retentit l'acclamation royale.
22 God brought them out of Egypt; he hath as it were the strength of an unicorn.	22 Dieu le fait sortir d'Egypte, Il est pour lui comme des cornes de buffle.
23 Surely there is no enchantment against Jacob, neither is there any divination against Israel: according to this time it shall be said of Jacob and of Israel, What hath God wrought!	23 Car il n'y a pas de présage contre Jacob ni d'augure contre Israël. Alors même que l'on dit àJacob et à Israël: "Que fait donc Dieu?"
24 Behold, the people shall rise up as a great lion, and lift up himself as a young lion: he shall not lie down until he eat of the prey, and drink the blood of the slain.	24 Voici qu'un peuple se dresse comme une lionne, qu'il surgit comme un lion: il ne se couche pas,qu'il n'ait dévoré sa proie et bu le sang de ceux qu'il a tués."
25 And Balak said unto Balaam, Neither curse them at all, nor bless them at all.	25 Balaq dit à Balaam: "Ne le maudis pas, soit! Du moins, ne le bénis pas!"
26 But Balaam answered and said unto Balak, Told not I thee, saying, All that the LORD speaketh, that I must do?	26 Balaam répondit à Balaq: "Ne t'avais-je pas dit: Tout ce que Yahvé dira, je le ferai?"
27 And Balak said unto Balaam, Come, I pray thee, I will bring thee unto another place; peradventure it will please God that thou mayest curse me them from thence.	27 Balaq dit à Balaam: "Viens donc, que je t'emmène ailleurs. Et là, peut-être Dieu trouvera bon dele maudire."
28 And Balak brought Balaam unto the top of Peor, that looketh toward Jeshimon.	28 Balaq emmena Balaam au sommet du Péor, qui domine le désert.
29 And Balaam said unto Balak, Build me here seven altars, and prepare me here seven bullocks and seven rams.	29 Balaam dit alors à Balaq: "Bâtis-moi ici sept autels et fournis-moi ici sept taureaux et septbéliers."
30 And Balak did as Balaam had said, and offered a bullock and a ram on every altar.	30 Balaq fit comme avait dit Balaam et offrit en holocauste un taureau et un bélier sur chaqueautel.
