Amos 4

1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.	1 Ascoltate questa parola, vacche del Basàn che siete sulla montagna di Samaria: Oh, esse schiacciano i miseri, oh, esse spezzano i poveri, oh, esse dicono ai loro signori: Porta qua, e beviamo!
2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.	2 Ha giurato il Signore Dio per la sua santità: Sì, ecco: giorni stanno arrivando su di voi che vi si leverà con uncini, e quante tra voi rimangono indietro con ami da pesca.
3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.	3 Per brecce uscirete, ognuna davanti a sé, e sarete spinte verso l'Ermon. Oracolo del Signore.
4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:	4 Venite a Betel e peccate, a Gàlgala e moltiplicate il peccato! Offrite per il mattino i vostri sacrifici e per il terzo giorno le vostre decime,
5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.	5 offrite sacrifici di ringraziamento con lievito, e proclamate i sacrifici volontari, fateli udire, poiché così piace a voi, figli d'Israele. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	6 Eppure io vi lasciai a denti asciutti in tutte le vostre città, con carestia di pane in tutte le vostre borgate: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
7 And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.	7 Io trattenni da voi la pioggia, a tre mesi dalla mietitura. Facevo piovere su una città e su un'altra città non facevo piovere. Un campo era fradicio di pioggia e il campo su cui non pioveva inaridiva.
8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	8 Due, tre città andavano barcollando ad un'altra per bere acqua e non si saziavano: ma non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	9 Percossi voi con l'arsura e con la ruggine; ho disseccato i vostri frutteti e i vostri vigneti; le vostre ficaie e i vostri uliveti li divorò la cavalletta: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	10 Mandai tra voi peste alla maniera d'Egitto. Trucidai con la spada gli adolescenti vostri, mentre erano catturati i vostri cavalli. Feci salire il fetore dei vostri accampamenti nelle vostre stesse narici: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	11 Vi travolsi del tutto, come quando Dio travolse Sodoma e Gomorra; diventaste come un tizzone strappato ad un incendio: ma non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.	12 Perciò così farò a te, Israele, proprio per questo lo farò a te: Prepàrati a incontrare il tuo Dio, Israele.
13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.	13 Poiché ecco: Colui che plasma i monti e che crea il vento e che svela all'uomo qual è il suo pensiero, colui che trasforma l'aurora in oscurità e cammina sulle sommità della terra: Signore, Dio delle schiere è il suo nome.
