Amos 4

1 Hear this word, ye kine of Bashan, that are in the mountain of Samaria, which oppress the poor, which crush the needy, which say to their masters, Bring, and let us drink.	1 - Ascoltate questa parola, vacche grasse, che siete sul monte di Samaria, che opprimete a torto i deboli e calpestate i poveri; che dite ai vostri signori: - Portate e beviamo! -
2 The Lord GOD hath sworn by his holiness, that, lo, the days shall come upon you, that he will take you away with hooks, and your posterity with fishhooks.	2 Lo ha giurato il Signore Dio per la sua santità: - Ecco, verranno per voi i giorni che vi solleveranno con aste, e i vostri avanzi con caldaie bollenti;
3 And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.	3 e per le brecce uscirete l'una addosso all'altra, e sarete sospinte verso Armon, dice il Signore.
4 Come to Bethel, and transgress; at Gilgal multiply transgression; and bring your sacrifices every morning, and your tithes after three years:	4 Venite in Betel e commettete l'empietà, e a Galgala moltiplicate le prevaricazioni! Recate le vostre vittime alla mattina, nei tre giorni le vostre primizie;
5 And offer a sacrifice of thanksgiving with leaven, and proclaim and publish the free offerings: for this liketh you, O ye children of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.	5 fate di pane fermentato il sacrifizio di lode, e le supererogazioni banditele e proclamatele, giacchè piacque così a voi, o figli d'Israele, dice il Signore Dio!
6 And I also have given you cleanness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	6 E anch'io v'ho dato da allegarvi i denti in tutte le vostre città, e carestia di pane per tutto nei vostri luoghi: e non siete tornati a me, dice il Signore.
7 And also I have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon, and the piece whereupon it rained not withered.	7 E anch'io ho fermato la pioggia, quando mancavano tre mesi alla mietitura; e sopra una città ho piovuto e sopra un'altra non ho piovuto; in una parte ha piovuto, e nella parte ove non ha piovuto vi fu la siccità.
8 So two or three cities wandered unto one city, to drink water; but they were not satisfied: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	8 E due e tre città trassero ad un'altra per avere acqua da bere, e non ne ebbero da dissetarsi; e voi non siete tornati a me, dice il Signore.
9 I have smitten you with blasting and mildew: when your gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	9 Vi ho colpito col vento secco, e colla ruggine l'agglomeramento dei vostri giardini e delle vostre vigne: e i vostri oliveti e le vostre ficaie se le sono divorate i bruchi, dice il Signore.
10 I have sent among you the pestilence after the manner of Egypt: your young men have I slain with the sword, and have taken away your horses; and I have made the stink of your camps to come up unto your nostrils: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	10 Vi ho mandato la mortalità sulla via di Egitto; ho fatto perire di spada i vostri giovani e catturare perfino i vostri cavalli, e ho fatto sollevare tale fetore dai vostri accampamenti, da ammorbare le vostre stesse narici; e non siete tornati a me, dice il Signore.
11 I have overthrown some of you, as God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah, and ye were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.	11 Vi ho sconvolti come ha sconvolto Iddio Sodoma e Gomorra, e vi siete ridotti, come un tizzo sottratto all'incendio: e non siete tornati a me, dice il Signore.
12 Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.	12 E perciò, o Israele, ti farò ancor questo: e poi che ti avrò fatto questo, preparati all'incontro del tuo Dio, o Israele.
13 For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.	13 Perchè eccolo: Colui che plasma i monti e crea il vento; che svela all'uomo il suo ragionamento; che forma la nebbia mattutina, e che cammina sulle sommità della terra; il suo nome è Signore Dio degli eserciti. -
