Ezekiel 33

1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 La parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:	2 « Figlio dell'uomo, parla ai figli del tuo popolo, e di' loro: Riguardo ad una terra, quando io avrò fatto venire sopra di lei la spada, e il popolo di quella terra avrà preso uno dei suoi infimi e l'avrà posto sopra di sè come sentinella,
3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;	3 se questo, vedendo la spada che viene contro il paese, dà fiato alla tromba e avverte il popolo,
4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.	4 dato che uno, chiunque sia, sentito il suono della tromba, non stia in guardia, e, venuta la spada, lo prenda, il suo sangue sarà sopra la sua testa:
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.	5 ha sentito il suono della tromba e non è stato in guardia: il suo sangue sarà sopra di lui; se poi starà in guardia, salverà la sua vita.
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.	6 Se invece la sentinella, veduta la spada che viene, non darà fiato alla tromba, e il popolo non starà in guardia, e, venuta la spada, toglierà da essi un uomo, questi certamente è stato preso per la sua iniquità, ma del suo sangue io ne chiederò conto alla sentinella.
7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.	7 Così riguardo a te, o figlio dell'uomo: io t'ho posto come sentinella della casa d'Israele: sentita dunque dalla mia bocca la parola, annunziala loro da parte mia.
8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.	8 Se, quando io dico all'empio: « Empio, di sicuro morrai », tu non parli per far ritirar l'empio dalla sua via, l'empio morrà nella sua iniquità, ma io chiederò conto a te del suo sangue.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.	9 Se poi l'empio, avvertito da te perchè torni indietro dalle sue vie, non torna indietro dalla sua via, egli morrà nella sua iniquità, ma tu avrai liberata l'anima tua ».
10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?	10 Or tu, o figlio dell'uomo, di' alla casa d'Israele: « Voi avete parlato in questi termini: — Le nostre iniquità, i nostri peccati stan sopra di noi, e a causa di essi noi siamo consumati: come dunque potremo aver vita? »
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?	11 Di' loro: « Io vivo — dice il Signore Dio, — io non voglio la morte dell'empio, ma che l'empio si ritiri dalla sua via e viva, tornate indietro, tornate indietro dalle vostre pessime vie. E perchè andate a morire, o casa d'Israele? »
12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.	12 Tu adunque, o figlio dell'uomo, di' ai figli del tuo popolo: « La giustizia del giusto non lo libererà nel giorno del suo peccato, e l'empietà dell'empio non nocerà a lui nel giorno in cui si convertirà dalla sua empietà, e il giusto non potrà vivere nella sua giustizia il giorno in cui abbia peccato.
13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.	13 Anche quando avrò detto al giusto che vivrà veramente, se egli, confidando nella sua giustizia, farà il male, tutte le sue opere buone saran dimenticate, a causa dell'iniquità da lui commessa, e per essa morrà.
14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;	14 E se, quando avrò detto all'empio: « Tu morrai cortamente » egli farà penitenza del suo peccato e agirà secondo il diritto e la giustizia,
15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.	15 se questo empio restituirà il pegno, e renderà quel che ha rapito, e seguirà i precetti della vita, senza far nulla d'ingiusto, avrà la vera vita e non morrà;
16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.	16 tutti i peccati da lui fatti non gli saranno imputati: avendo agito secondo il diritto e la giustizia, avrà la vera vita ».
17 Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.	17 E i figli del tuo popolo han detto: « Il modo di fare del Signore non è giusto ». Invece è il loro modo d'agire che non è giusto.
18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.	18 Infatti, quando il giusto, allontanatosi dalla sua giustizia, commetterà l'iniquità, da questa avrà la morte;
19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.	19 E quando l'empio, abbandonata l'empietà, agirà secondo il diritto e la giustizia, da queste avrà la vita.
20 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.	20 E voi a dire: « Il modo d'agire del Signore non è retto ». Io giudicherò ciascun di voi secondo la propria condotta, o casa d'Israele ».
21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.	21 Nell'anno duodecimo della nostra deportazione, nel decimo mese, ai cinque del mese, venne da me uno che era fuggito da Gerusalemme, e disse: « La città è stata distrutta ».
22 Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.	22 Or la mano del Signore era stata su di me la sera avanti che arrivasse il fuggiasco, e mi aveva aperta la bocca, finché venne a me il fuggiasco la mattina: allora, aperta la mia bocca, non stetti più in silenzio.
23 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	23 E la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata in questi termini:
24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.	24 « Figlio dell'uomo, quelli che stanno tra quelle rovine, sopra la terra d'Israele, van dicendo: « A bramo era solo, ed ebbe in eredità questa terra, or noi siamo molti, e il dominio di questa terra è stato dato a noi ».
25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?	25 Per questo, di' loro: « Cosi parla il Signore Dio: Voi, che mangiate (la carne) col sangue, che alzate i vostri occhi ai vostri (idoli) immondi, che spargete il sangue, voi possederete questa terra?
26 Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land?	26 Voi che vi siete appoggiati sulle vostre spade, che faceste cose abominevoli, che avete contaminato ciascuno la moglie del suo prossimo, voi possederete questa terra? »
27 Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.	27 Ecco quanto tu devi dir loro: « Così parla il Signore Dio: Io vivo! quelli che stanno tra le rovine cadranno sotto la spada, quelli che sono alla campagna saran preda delle fiere e divorati, quelli poi che sono nelle fortezze e nelle caverne moriranno di peste.
28 For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.	28 E ridurrò questa terra ad una solitudine, a un deserto, e cesserà la superbia della sua potenza, e i monti d'Israele saran desolati in modo che nessuno vi passi.
29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.	29 E sapranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò ridotta la loro terra a solitudine, a deserto, a causa di tutte le loro abominazioni da essi commesse.
30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.	30 Ma quanto a te, o figlio dell'uomo, i figli del tuo popolo, che parlano di te lungo le mura e sulle porte delle case, e parlan tra sé, l'uno all'altro, dicendo: « Venite, andiamo a sentire quale sia la parola che viene dal Signore »,
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.	31 vengono a te come se venisse un popolo, e siedono dinanzi a te come mio popolo, e ascoltano le tue parole, ma non le mettono in pratica, le riducono ad un cantico della loro bocca, e il loro cuore va dietro alla loro avarizia
32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.	32 e tu sei per essi come un cantico armonioso cantato da voce dolce e soave: essi ascoltan le tue parole, ma non le mettono in pratica.
33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.	33 Ma quando avverrà quello che è stato predetto — ed ecco viene — allora sapranno che in mezzo a loro v'è un profeta ».
