1 Again the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	1 - E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
2 Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:	2 «Figlio dell'uomo, parla ai figli del tuo popolo e dirai loro: - Supponiamo una terra, sulla quale io sto per far venire la spada e il suo popolo abbia preso un uomo, l'infimo dei suoi, e l'abbia posto sulla scolta,
3 If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet, and warn the people;	3 e che questi, scorgendo la spada sopraggiungere nella sua terra, faccia squillare la tromba e metta in allarme il popolo;
4 Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.	4 e uno chiunque oda lo squillo della tromba e non si metta in guardia, e la spada sopravvenga e lo sorprenda: il suo sangue sarà sopra il suo capo.
5 He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul.	5 Ha udito lo squillo della tromba e non si è messo in guardia, sarà responsabile egli stesso del proprio sangue, ma se si è messo in guardia avrà posto in salvo se stesso.
6 But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand.	6 E se la scolta avrà scorto la spada che sopraggiunge e non avrà fatto squillare la tromba, e il popolo non si sia messo in guardia, e la spada sia sopraggiunta e ne abbia sorpreso qualcuno, costui morrà certo sorpreso dalla sua iniqua sorte, ma io domanderò conto del suo sangue alla vedetta. -
7 So thou, O son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.	7 Or io ho messo te, figlio dell'uomo, scolta della casa d'Israele: quando dunque tu ascolti qualche parola dalla mia bocca l'annunzierai ad essi da parte mia.
8 When I say unto the wicked, O wicked man, thou shalt surely die; if thou dost not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.	8 Se io mandassi a dire all'empio: - Empio, tu morrai! - ma tu non parlassi affinchè l'empio si metta in guardia dalla sua condotta; esso empio morrà nella sua iniquità, ma io domanderò conto a te del suo sangue.
9 Nevertheless, if thou warn the wicked of his way to turn from it; if he do not turn from his way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.	9 E se l'empio, avvertito da te che si converta dai suoi andamenti, non si convertisse dalla sua condotta; egli morrà nella sua iniquità e tu avrai messo al sicuro l'anima tua.
10 Therefore, O thou son of man, speak unto the house of Israel; Thus ye speak, saying, If our transgressions and our sins be upon us, and we pine away in them, how should we then live?	10 Tu dunque, figlio dell'uomo, dirai a quei della casa d'Israele: - Voi siete andati parlando e dicendo così: Sì, le nostre iniquità e i nostri peccati sono sopra di noi e per essi andiamo in disfacimento, come dunque potremo vivere? -.
11 Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?	11 Dirai loro: - Com'è vero ch'io vivo, dice il Signore Dio, io non voglio la morte dell'empio, ma che l'empio si converta dalla sua condotta e viva. Convertitevi, convertitevi dai vostri traviamenti, perchè dovreste morire, o casa d'Israele? -
12 Therefore, thou son of man, say unto the children of thy people, The righteousness of the righteous shall not deliver him in the day of his transgression: as for the wickedness of the wicked, he shall not fall thereby in the day that he turneth from his wickedness; neither shall the righteous be able to live for his righteousness in the day that he sinneth.	12 Tu dunque, o figlio dell'uomo, dirai ai figli del tuo popolo: - La giustizia del giusto non lo libererà ogni qual volta avrà peccato, e l'empietà dell'empio non gli nuocerà ogni qual volta si sarà convertito dalla sua empietà, e il giusto non potrà vivere nella sua giustizia ogni qual volta avrà peccato. -
13 When I shall say to the righteous, that he shall surely live; if he trust to his own righteousness, and commit iniquity, all his righteousnesses shall not be remembered; but for his iniquity that he hath committed, he shall die for it.	13 Quand'anche avessi detto al giusto che viva, ed egli fidandosi nella sua giustizia commettesse l'iniquità, tutte le sue opere di giustizia saranno messe in dimenticanza, e nell'iniquità che ha commesso, in essa morrà.
14 Again, when I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; if he turn from his sin, and do that which is lawful and right;	14 E se avessi detto all'empio: - Tu morrai, - se poi si pentisse del suo peccato e praticasse i suoi doveri e la giustizia
15 If the wicked restore the pledge, give again that he had robbed, walk in the statutes of life, without committing iniquity; he shall surely live, he shall not die.	15 e restituisse quell'empio il pegno e restituisse il mal tolto, e si diportasse secondo i comandamenti di vita, e niente operasse di men che giusto, certo vivrà e non morrà.
16 None of his sins that he hath committed shall be mentioned unto him: he hath done that which is lawful and right; he shall surely live.	16 Tutti i peccati che avrà commesso non gli saranno imputati; ha compiuto il suo dovere e la giustizia, egli vivrà.
17 Yet the children of thy people say, The way of the Lord is not equal: but as for them, their way is not equal.	17 E i figli del tuo popolo dissero: - Non è giusto il procedere del Signore! - È il loro procedere che non è giusto.
18 When the righteous turneth from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, he shall even die thereby.	18 Perchè se il giusto recedendo dalla sua giustizia avrà commesso iniquità morirà in esse;
19 But if the wicked turn from his wickedness, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall live thereby.	19 e l'empio ritraendosi dalla sua empietà e praticando i suoi doveri e la giustizia, in essi vivrà.
20 Yet ye say, The way of the Lord is not equal. O ye house of Israel, I will judge you every one after his ways.	20 Voi insisterete: - Non è giusto il procedere del Signore. - Ma io a norma del procedere di ciascuno farò giudizio di voi, o casa d'Israele».
21 And it came to pass in the twelfth year of our captivity, in the tenth month, in the fifth day of the month, that one that had escaped out of Jerusalem came unto me, saying, The city is smitten.	21 E avvenne nell'anno duodecimo, nel decimo mese, ai cinque del mese, dalla nostra trasmigrazione, che un fuggitivo da Gerusalemme, giunse a me dicendo: «La città è stata distrutta!».
22 Now the hand of the LORD was upon me in the evening, afore he that was escaped came; and had opened my mouth, until he came to me in the morning; and my mouth was opened, and I was no more dumb.	22 Or la sera innanzi, prima dell'arrivo di quel fuggito, la mano del Signore si era fatta sopra di me e aveva aperto la mia bocca fin tanto che venne a me l'indomani, e così sentendomi aperta la bocca più non tacqui.
23 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,	23 E il Signore mi comunicò la sua parola dicendo:
24 Son of man, they that inhabit those wastes of the land of Israel speak, saying, Abraham was one, and he inherited the land: but we are many; the land is given us for inheritance.	24 «Figlio dell'uomo, coloro che abitano quelle rovine laggiù sulla terra d'Israele vanno dicendo: - Abramo era solo ed ebbe in retaggio il possesso della terra, e noi siamo molti e la stessa terra è stata data a noi a possedere. -
25 Wherefore say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Ye eat with the blood, and lift up your eyes toward your idols, and shed blood: and shall ye possess the land?	25 Per questo dirai loro: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Voi che mangiate carni sanguinolente e alzate gli occhi ai vostri immondi idoli e spargete il sangue, come pretendereste di possedere in retaggio la terra?
26 Ye stand upon your sword, ye work abomination, and ye defile every one his neighbour's wife: and shall ye possess the land?	26 Sempre pronti a usar le armi, a perpetrare delitti, a violare la moglie del prossimo, e possederete in retaggio la terra? .-
27 Say thou thus unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely they that are in the wastes shall fall by the sword, and him that is in the open field will I give to the beasts to be devoured, and they that be in the forts and in the caves shall die of the pestilence.	27 Dirai loro: - Così dice il Signore Dio: Vivo io, che quelli che abitano le rovine cadranno sotto la spada, e chi è nella campagna sarà dato in preda alle fiere, e coloro che stanno nelle rocche e nelle caverne moriranno di peste.
28 For I will lay the land most desolate, and the pomp of her strength shall cease; and the mountains of Israel shall be desolate, that none shall pass through.	28 E ridurrò la terra in una solitudine e in un deserto, e cesserà la sua vantata potenza, e i monti d'Israele saranno spopolati senza più nessuno che vi transiti.
29 Then shall they know that I am the LORD, when I have laid the land most desolate because of all their abominations which they have committed.	29 E conosceranno che io sono il Signore, quando avrò ridotta la loro terra desolata e deserta, per causa di tutte le abominazioni che hanno commesso . -
30 Also, thou son of man, the children of thy people still are talking against thee by the walls and in the doors of the houses, and speak one to another, every one to his brother, saying, Come, I pray you, and hear what is the word that cometh forth from the LORD.	30 Quanto a te, figlio dell'uomo, i figli del tuo popolo ne parlano, addossati ai muri e sulle soglie delle case discorrono, uno coll'altro, il vicino col vicino, e dicono: - Venite, andiamo a sentire quale sia la parola che viene dal Signore. -
31 And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they shew much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.	31 E vengono a te facendo ressa per accorrere, e il mio popolo siede davanti a te ed è tutto in orecchi alle tue parole, ma non le mette in pratica; perchè colla bocca le vanno ricantando, ma il loro cuore va dietro alla propria avarizia.
32 And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not.	32 Tu dunque sei per essi come un'aria musicale cantata da una voce soave e melodiosa; sono tutto orecchi alle tue parole, ma non le mettono in pratica.
33 And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.	33 E quando arriverà ciò che fu preannunziato, ecco è qui che viene, allora riconosceranno che un profeta c'è stato in mezzo ad essi».
