1 If thou wilt return, O Israel, saith the LORD, return unto me: and if thou wilt put away thine abominations out of my sight, then shalt thou not remove.	1 Se tu, Israel, voltares, diz o Senhor, converter-te-ás a mim; se tirares de diante da minha face os teus horrores, não mais andarás errante.
2 And thou shalt swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.	2 Se jurares pela vida do Senhor, em verdade, com retidão e justiça, nele serão abençoados os povos e nele se gloriarão.
3 For thus saith the LORD to the men of Judah and Jerusalem, Break up your fallow ground, and sow not among thorns.	3 Porque isto diz o Senhor às gentes de Judá e de Jerusalém: Arroteai o vosso pousio; não semeeis sobre espinhos.
4 Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench it, because of the evil of your doings.	4 Circuncidai-vos para o Senhor, tirai os prepúcios de vossos corações, varões de Judá habitantes de Jerusalém, para que não suceda que, de repente, saia como fogo a minha indignação e abrase, e não haja quem a apague, por causa da maldade das vossas obras.
5 Declare ye in Judah, and publish in Jerusalem; and say, Blow ye the trumpet in the land: cry, gather together, and say, Assemble yourselves, and let us go into the defenced cities.	5 Anunciai em Judá, fazei ouvir em Jerusalém; publicai ao som de trombeta por (todo) o país; gritai em alta voz e dizei: Juntai-vos todos, entremos nas cidades fortificadas;
6 Set up the standard toward Zion: retire, stay not: for I will bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.	6 levantai o estandarte na direção de Sião, procurai abrigo, não estejais parados, porque eu farei vir do Aquilão uma desgraça; uma grande calamidade.
7 The lion is come up from his thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is gone forth from his place to make thy land desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.	7 Saiu o leão do seu covil, pôs-se a caminho o destruidor das gentes; saiu do seu país, para reduzir a tua terra a um deserto; as tuas cidades serão destruídas, sem que nelas fique habitante algum.
8 For this gird you with sackcloth, lament and howl: for the fierce anger of the LORD is not turned back from us.	8 Por isso cobri-vos de cilício, chorai e pranteai, porque não se apartou de nós o ardente furor do Senhor.
9 And it shall come to pass at that day, saith the LORD, that the heart of the king shall perish, and the heart of the princes; and the priests shall be astonished, and the prophets shall wonder.	9 Acontecerá isto naquele dia, diz o Senhor: Desfalecerá o coração do rei, desfalecerá o coração dos chefes; pasmarão os sacerdotes, e os profetas ficarão estupefactos.
10 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! surely thou hast greatly deceived this people and Jerusalem, saying, Ye shall have peace; whereas the sword reacheth unto the soul.	10 Dir-se-á (ao ouvir isto): Ai! Senhor Deus! Verdadeiramente enganaste este povo e Jerusalém, dizendo-lhes: Vós tereis paz quando agora chega a espada (do inimigo) até ao coração.
11 At that time shall it be said to this people and to Jerusalem, A dry wind of the high places in the wilderness toward the daughter of my people, not to fan, nor to cleanse,	11 Naquele tempo dir-se-á a este povo e a Jerusalém: Um vento abrasador sopra das colinas do deserto sobre os caminhos que conduzem à filha do meu povo, não para aventar ou limpar (o grão, mas para queimar as plantas).
12 Even a full wind from those places shall come unto me: now also will I give sentence against them.	12 Daquele lado chega, às minhas ordens, um vento impetuoso; agora pronunciarei os meus juízos contra eles.
13 Behold, he shall come up as clouds, and his chariots shall be as a whirlwind: his horses are swifter than eagles. Woe unto us! for we are spoiled.	13 Eis que (o exército inimigo) vem como uma nuvem, como uma tempestade os seus carros, mais velozes que águias os seus cavalos. Ai de nós (dirão), porque somos destruídos.
14 O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?	14 Lava, ó Jerusalém, o teu coração de toda a maldade, para que sejas salva. Até quando permanecerão em ti pensamentos pecaminosos?
15 For a voice declareth from Dan, and publisheth affliction from mount Ephraim.	15 Já se escuta uma voz vinda de Dan, a dar o alarme, a notícia da calamidade vem do monte de Efraim.
16 Make ye mention to the nations; behold, publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.	16 Dizei às nações: Eis que se ouviu dizer em Jerusalém que vem gente de guerra de uma terra remota, que faz ouvir os seus gritos contra as cidades de Judá.
17 As keepers of a field, are they against her round about; because she hath been rebellious against me, saith the LORD.	17 Estão (dia e noite) ao redor dela como guardas de campos, porque ela se revoltou contra mim, diz o Senhor.
18 Thy way and thy doings have procured these things unto thee; this is thy wickedness, because it is bitter, because it reacheth unto thine heart.	18 Os teus caminhos e os teus pensamentos te trouxeram (ó Jerusalém) estas coisas; eis (o fruto da) tua malícia! Quão amargo é! Chega ao coração!
19 My bowels, my bowels! I am pained at my very heart; my heart maketh a noise in me; I cannot hold my peace, because thou hast heard, O my soul, the sound of the trumpet, the alarm of war.	19 Minhas entranhas! Minhas entranhas! Sinto dor! O meu coração tumultua! Não me calarei, porque a minha alma ouviu a voz da trombeta, um alarido de batalha.
20 Destruction upon destruction is cried; for the whole land is spoiled: suddenly are my tents spoiled, and my curtains in a moment.	20 Anuncia-se desastre sobre desastre; foi assolada toda a terra. De improviso foram derrubadas as minhas tendas, os meus pavilhões abatidos.
21 How long shall I see the standard, and hear the sound of the trumpet?	21 Até quando verei o estandarte (inimigo) e ouvirei a voz da trombeta (inimiga)?
22 For my people is foolish, they have not known me; they are sottish children, and they have none understanding: they are wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.	22 O meu povo é néscio, (diz o Senhor) não me conhece! Filhos insensatos são, sem inteligência: são sábios para fazer o mal, mas não sabem fazer o bem.
23 I beheld the earth, and, lo, it was without form, and void; and the heavens, and they had no light.	23 Olhei para a terra, e eis que estava informe e vazia; para os céus, e não havia neles luz,
24 I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.	24 Vi as montanhas, e elas tremiam, e todos os outeiros estremeciam.
25 I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.	25 Olhei e não havia homens, e todas as aves do céu tinham fugido.
26 I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the LORD, and by his fierce anger.	26 Olhei, e (vi que) o vergel se tornara um deserto e todas as suas cidades haviam sido destruídas na presença do Senhor, ao sopro da sua cólera.
27 For thus hath the LORD said, The whole land shall be desolate; yet will I not make a full end.	27 Eis, pois, o que diz o Senhor: Deserta ficará toda a terra (de Judá), porém não a destruirei de todo.
28 For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken it, I have purposed it, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.	28 Chorará a terra e entristecer-se-ão os céus, lá em cima, porque decretei, resolvi, e não me arrependo, não desistirei.
29 The whole city shall flee for the noise of the horsemen and bowmen; they shall go into thickets, and climb up upon the rocks: every city shall be forsaken, and not a man dwell therein.	29 À voz do cavaleiro e do que despede a seta, fugiu toda a cidade; correram a esconder-se nos bosques, subiram pelos rochedos; todas as cidades foram desamparadas, sem que ficasse nelas um só habitante.
30 And when thou art spoiled, what wilt thou do? Though thou clothest thyself with crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make thyself fair; thy lovers will despise thee, they will seek thy life.	30 E tu, desolada, que farás (ó Jerusalém)? Por mais que te vistas de púrpura, te adornes de enfeites de oiro, e alargues os teus olhos com pinturas, em vão te embelezarás: os teus amantes desprezam-te, querem tirar-te a vida.
31 For I have heard a voice as of a woman in travail, and the anguish as of her that bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying, Woe is me now! for my soul is wearied because of murderers.	31 Ouço uma voz como de mulher que está de parto, angústias como de puérpera: é a voz da filha de Sião, que grita, estendendo as suas mãos (e dizendo): Ai de mim, que desfalece a minha alma diante dos assassinos.
