Jeremiah 37

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 And king Zedekiah the son of Josiah reigned instead of Coniah the son of Jehoiakim, whom Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon made king in the land of Judah.	1 Le roi Sédécias, fils de Josias, devint roi à la place de Konias, fils de Joiaqim: Nabuchodonosor,roi de Babylone, l'avait établi roi au pays de Juda.
2 But neither he, nor his servants, nor the people of the land, did hearken unto the words of the LORD, which he spake by the prophet Jeremiah.	2 Mais ni lui, ni ses serviteurs, ni le peuple du pays n'écoutèrent les paroles que Yahvé prononça parle ministère du prophète Jérémie.
3 And Zedekiah the king sent Jehucal the son of Shelemiah and Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest to the prophet Jeremiah, saying, Pray now unto the LORD our God for us.	3 Le roi Sédécias envoya Yukal, fils de Shélémya, et le prêtre Cephanyahu, fils de Maaséya, vers leprophète Jérémie avec ce message: "Adresse donc une prière pour nous à Yahvé notre Dieu!"
4 Now Jeremiah came in and went out among the people: for they had not put him into prison.	4 Or Jérémie allait et venait parmi le peuple: on ne l'avait pas encore mis en prison.
5 Then Pharoah's army was come forth out of Egypt: and when the Chaldeans that besieged Jerusalem heard tidings of them, they departed from Jerusalem.	5 Cependant l'armée de Pharaon était sortie d'Egypte; à cette nouvelle, les Chaldéens quiassiégeaient Jérusalem avaient dû lever le siège.
6 Then came the word of the LORD unto the prophet Jeremiah, saying,	6 Alors la parole de Yahvé fut adressée au prophète Jérémie en ces termes:
7 Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Thus shall ye say to the king of Judah, that sent you unto me to inquire of me; Behold, Pharaoh's army, which is come forth to help you, shall return to Egypt into their own land.	7 Ainsi parle Yahvé, le Dieu d'Israël. Au roi de Juda qui vous a envoyés vers moi pour me consulter,vous donnerez cette réponse: L'armée de Pharaon est sortie à votre secours? Elle va s'en retourner en son paysd'Egypte!
8 And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.	8 Les Chaldéens reviendront attaquer cette ville, la conquérir et y mettre le feu.
9 Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves, saying, The Chaldeans shall surely depart from us: for they shall not depart.	9 Ainsi parle Yahvé. Ne vous abusez pas vous-mêmes en disant: "Les Chaldéens s'en iront pour debon de chez nous", car ils ne s'en iront pas!
10 For though ye had smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.	10 Quand vous auriez taillé en pièces toute l'armée des Chaldéens en guerre contre vous et qu'il n'enrestât que des blessés, ils se dresseraient chacun sous sa tente pour mettre le feu à cette ville.
11 And it came to pass, that when the army of the Chaldeans was broken up from Jerusalem for fear of Pharaoh's army,	11 A l'époque où l'armée des Chaldéens dut lever le siège de Jérusalem à cause de l'armée dePharaon,
12 Then Jeremiah went forth out of Jerusalem to go into the land of Benjamin, to separate himself thence in the midst of the people.	12 Jérémie sortit de Jérusalem pour aller au pays de Benjamin y toucher sa part au milieu de lapopulation.
13 And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.	13 Comme il était à la porte de Benjamin, un nommé Yiréiyyaï, fils de Shélémya, fils de Hananya,chef du poste de garde, se trouvait là; il arrêta le prophète Jérémie en disant: "Tu passes aux Chaldéens!"
14 Then said Jeremiah, It is false; I fall not away to the Chaldeans. But he hearkened not to him: so Irijah took Jeremiah, and brought him to the princes.	14 Jérémie répondit: "C'est faux! Je ne passe pas aux Chaldéens!" Mais sans écouter Jérémie,Yiréiyyaï l'arrêta et le conduisit aux princes.
15 Wherefore the princes were wroth with Jeremiah, and smote him, and put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the scribe: for they had made that the prison.	15 Ceux-ci, furieux contre Jérémie, le frappèrent et le mirent au cachot, au domicile du scribeYehonatân, qu'on avait transformé en prison.
16 When Jeremiah was entered into the dungeon, and into the cabins, and Jeremiah had remained there many days;	16 Ainsi Jérémie fut mis dans un souterrain voûté et il y resta longtemps.
17 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took him out: and the king asked him secretly in his house, and said, Is there any word from the LORD? And Jeremiah said, There is: for, said he, thou shalt be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon.	17 Le roi Sédécias l'envoya chercher. Et secrètement, dans son palais, le roi lui demanda: "Y a-t-ilune parole de Yahvé?" Jérémie répondit: "Oui!" Et il ajouta: "Entre les mains du roi de Babylone, tu seras livré!"
18 Moreover Jeremiah said unto king Zedekiah, What have I offended against thee, or against thy servants, or against this people, that ye have put me in prison?	18 Puis Jérémie dit au roi Sédécias: "En quoi ai-je péché contre toi, contre tes serviteurs ou contre cepeuple, que vous m'ayez mis en prison?
19 Where are now your prophets which prophesied unto you, saying, The king of Babylon shall not come against you, nor against this land?	19 Où donc sont vos prophètes qui vous annonçaient: Il ne viendra pas contre vous, le roi deBabylone, ni contre ce pays?
20 Therefore hear now, I pray thee, O my lord the king: let my supplication, I pray thee, be accepted before thee; that thou cause me not to return to the house of Jonathan the scribe, lest I die there.	20 Maintenant, Monseigneur le roi, daigne écouter, que ma supplication puisse te toucher: Ne mefais pas reconduire chez le scribe Yehonatân de peur que je n'y trouve la mort."
21 Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of bread out of the bakers' street, until all the bread in the city were spent. Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.	21 Alors le roi Sédécias donna un ordre: on enferma Jérémie dans la cour de garde et on lui remitchaque jour une galette de pain, venant de la rue des boulangers, jusqu'à ce qu'il n'y eût plus de pain dans la ville.Ainsi Jérémie resta dans la cour de garde.
