Jeremiah 29

1 Now these are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem unto the residue of the elders which were carried away captives, and to the priests, and to the prophets, and to all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away captive from Jerusalem to Babylon;	1 Queste sono le parole della lettera che inviò il profeta Geremia da Gerusalemme al resto degli anziani deportati, ai sacerdoti, ai profeti e a tutto il popolo che Nabucodònosor aveva deportato da Gerusalemme a Babilonia
2 (After that Jeconiah the king, and the queen, and the eunuchs, the princes of Judah and Jerusalem, and the carpenters, and the smiths, were departed from Jerusalem;)	2 dopo la partenza del re Ieconia, della regina, degli eunuchi, dei prìncipi di Giuda e di Gerusalemme, dei fabbri e dei fonditori, da Gerusalemme.
3 By the hand of Elasah the son of Shaphan, and Gemariah the son of Hilkiah, (whom Zedekiah king of Judah sent unto Babylon to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon) saying,	3 La mandò per mezzo di Eleasà, figlio di Safàn, e di Ghemarìa, figlio di Chelkia, che Sedecia, re di Giuda, inviava a Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, in Babilonia. Essa diceva:
4 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, unto all that are carried away captives, whom I have caused to be carried away from Jerusalem unto Babylon;	4 "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele, a tutti i deportati che ho fatto esiliare da Gerusalemme in Babilonia.
5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;	5 Costruite case e abitatele; piantate giardini e mangiate i loro frutti;
6 Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished.	6 prendete mogli e generate figli e figlie; prendete mogli per i vostri figli e date le vostre figlie a marito, affinché generiate figli e figlie, affinché vi moltiplichiate lì e non diminuiate!
7 And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.	7 Cercate la pace della città dove vi ho deportato e pregate per essa il Signore, poiché attraverso il suo benessere verrà anche a voi benessere.
8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Let not your prophets and your diviners, that be in the midst of you, deceive you, neither hearken to your dreams which ye cause to be dreamed.	8 Così dice infatti il Signore degli eserciti, Dio di Israele: Non vi seducano i profeti che sono in mezzo a voi e i vostri indovini; non date retta ai loro sogni,
9 For they prophesy falsely unto you in my name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.	9 poiché essi profetizzano menzogna nel mio nome: non li ho inviati, oracolo del Signore.
10 For thus saith the LORD, That after seventy years be accomplished at Babylon I will visit you, and perform my good word toward you, in causing you to return to this place.	10 Così, infatti, dice il Signore: Soltanto quando saranno compiuti settant'anni per Babilonia io vi visiterò e realizzerò per voi le buone parole, riconducendovi in questo luogo.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.	11 Io, infatti, conosco i piani che sto progettando sul vostro conto, oracolo del Signore: piani di pace e non di sventura, per darvi un futuro pieno di speranza.
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.	12 Mi invocherete, camminerete dietro di me, mi pregherete e io vi ascolterò;
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.	13 mi cercherete e mi troverete, poiché allora mi consulterete con tutto il vostro cuore.
14 And I will be found of you, saith the LORD: and I will turn away your captivity, and I will gather you from all the nations, and from all the places whither I have driven you, saith the LORD; and I will bring you again into the place whence I caused you to be carried away captive.	14 Io mi farò trovare da voi, oracolo del Signore, e ricondurrò i vostri deportati e vi radunerò di mezzo a tutte le nazioni e da tutti i luoghi dove io vi ho dispersi, oracolo del Signore, e vi farò ritornare al luogo dal quale vi ho fatto deportare.
15 Because ye have said, The LORD hath raised us up prophets in Babylon;	15 Voi direte: "Il Signore ci ha suscitato dei profeti in Babilonia".
16 Know that thus saith the LORD of the king that sitteth upon the throne of David, and of all the people that dwelleth in this city, and of your brethren that are not gone forth with you into captivity;	16 Ma così dice il Signore al re che siede sul trono di Davide e a tutto il popolo che abita in questa città, i vostri fratelli che non sono stati deportati con voi:
17 Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will send upon them the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, and will make them like vile figs, that cannot be eaten, they are so evil.	17 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti: Ecco che io invio contro di loro la spada, la fame e la peste e li renderò come fichi marci che non si possono mangiare per quanto sono cattivi.
18 And I will persecute them with the sword, with the famine, and with the pestilence, and will deliver them to be removed to all the kingdoms of the earth, to be a curse, and an astonishment, and an hissing, and a reproach, among all the nations whither I have driven them:	18 Io li inseguirò con la spada, con la fame e con la peste e li renderò un orrore dinanzi a tutti i regni della terra, esecrazione, stupore, scherno e obbrobrio in mezzo a tutte le nazioni dove li disperderò,
19 Because they have not hearkened to my words, saith the LORD, which I sent unto them by my servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them; but ye would not hear, saith the LORD.	19 perché non ascoltarono le mie parole, oracolo del Signore, quando inviai loro i miei servi, i profeti, tempestivamente e sollecitamente: non li ascoltarono! Oracolo del Signore.
20 Hear ye therefore the word of the LORD, all ye of the captivity, whom I have sent from Jerusalem to Babylon:	20 Ma voi ascoltate la parola del Signore, o deportati tutti, che io ho mandato da Gerusalemme a Babilonia.
21 Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall slay them before your eyes;	21 Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele, ad Acab, figlio di Kolaià, e a Sedecia, figlio di Maasià, che vi profetizzano menzogna nel mio nome: Ecco, io li do in potere di Nabucodònosor, re di Babilonia, e li ucciderà sotto i vostri occhi.
22 And of them shall be taken up a curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like Zedekiah and like Ahab, whom the king of Babylon roasted in the fire;	22 E da essi si trarrà una formula di maledizione che useranno tutti i deportati di Giuda che sono in Babilonia: "Il Signore tratti come Sedecia e come Acab, che il re di Babilonia arrostì con il fuoco!".
23 Because they have committed villany in Israel, and have committed adultery with their neighbours' wives, and have spoken lying words in my name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.	23 Questo poiché commisero nefandezze in Israele, commisero adulterio con le mogli del loro prossimo e pronunciarono parole menzognere nel mio nome quando io non glielo ordinai. Io so e testifico, oracolo del Signore".
24 Thus shalt thou also speak to Shemaiah the Nehelamite, saying,	24 A Semaià, il nechelamita, dirai così:
25 Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,	25 "Così dice il Signore degli eserciti, Dio d'Israele: Tu hai mandato a tuo nome lettere a tutto il popolo che è in Gerusalemme, al sacerdote Sofonia, figlio di Maasià, e a tutti i sacerdoti dicendo:
26 The LORD hath made thee priest in the stead of Jehoiada the priest, that ye should be officers in the house of the LORD, for every man that is mad, and maketh himself a prophet, that thou shouldest put him in prison, and in the stocks.	26 "Il Signore ti ha costituito sacerdote al posto del sacerdote Ioiadà per essere sorvegliante nella casa del Signore, contro ogni esaltato che profetizza, affinché lo metta ai ceppi nella gogna.
27 Now therefore why hast thou not reproved Jeremiah of Anathoth, which maketh himself a prophet to you?	27 Orbene, perché non reprimi Geremia di Anatòt che profetizza tra di voi?
28 For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.	28 Infatti egli ci ha inviato una lettera in Babilonia in cui dice: Sarà lungo! Costruite case e abitatele e piantate giardini e mangiatene i frutti".
29 And Zephaniah the priest read this letter in the ears of Jeremiah the prophet.	29 Il sacerdote Sofonia lesse questa lettera alle orecchie di Geremia il profeta.
30 Then came the word of the LORD unto Jeremiah, saying,	30 Allora la parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia in questi termini:
31 Send to all them of the captivity, saying, Thus saith the LORD concerning Shemaiah the Nehelamite; Because that Shemaiah hath prophesied unto you, and I sent him not, and he caused you to trust in a lie:	31 "Manda a dire a tutti i deportati: Così dice il Signore a Semaià il nechelamita: Poiché Semaià ha profetizzato a voi mentre io non l'ho inviato e vi ha fatto confidare nella menzogna,
32 Therefore thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will punish Shemaiah the Nehelamite, and his seed: he shall not have a man to dwell among this people; neither shall he behold the good that I will do for my people, saith the LORD; because he hath taught rebellion against the LORD.	32 per questo dice il Signore: Ecco, io visiterò Semaià il nechelamita e la sua stirpe: non avrà alcuno che abiti in mezzo a questo popolo e non godrà della prosperità che io accorderò al mio popolo, oracolo del Signore, poiché ha predicato la ribellione contro il Signore!".
