Isaiah 51

1 Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.	1 Ouvi-me, vós que seguis a justiça, e que buscais o Senhor! Olhai a rocha de que fostes talhados, a pedreira de onde vos tiraram:
2 Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him.	2 considerai Abraão, vosso pai, e Sara, que vos pôs no mundo. Ele estava só, quando o chamei, mas eu o abençoei e o multipliquei,
3 For the LORD shall comfort Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like Eden, and her desert like the garden of the LORD; joy and gladness shall be found therein, thanksgiving, and the voice of melody.	3 porque o Senhor vai ter piedade de Sião, e reparar todas as suas ruínas. Do deserto em que ela se tornou ele fará um Éden, e da sua estepe um jardim do Senhor. Aí encontrar-se-ão o prazer e a alegria, os cânticos de louvor e as melodias da música.
4 Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.	4 Povos, escutai bem! Nações, prestai-me atenção! Pois é de mim que emanará a doutrina e a verdadeira religião que será a luz dos povos.
5 My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.	5 De repente minha justiça chegará, minha salvação vai aparecer, {meu braço fará justiça aos povos}, as ilhas em mim terão esperança e contarão com meu braço.
6 Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.	6 Levantai os olhos para o céu, volvei vosso olhar à terra: os céus vão desvanecer-se como fumaça, como um vestido em farrapos ficará a terra, e seus habitantes morrerão como moscas. Mas minha salvação subsistirá sempre, e minha vitória não terá fim.
7 Hearken unto me, ye that know righteousness, the people in whose heart is my law; fear ye not the reproach of men, neither be ye afraid of their revilings.	7 Ouvi-me, vós que conheceis a justiça, povo meu, em cujo coração está a minha doutrina: não temais os insultos dos homens, não vos deixeis abater pelos seus ultrajes,
8 For the moth shall eat them up like a garment, and the worm shall eat them like wool: but my righteousness shall be for ever, and my salvation from generation to generation.	8 porque a traça os comerá como uma vestimenta, e os vermes das traças os roerão como lã. Mas minha vitória subsistirá sempre e meu triunfo persistirá de geração em geração.
9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?	9 Desperta, braço do Senhor, desperta, recobra teu vigor! Levanta-te como nos dias do passado, como nos tempos de outrora. Não foste tu que esmagaste Raab e fendeste de alto a baixo o Dragão?
10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?	10 Não foste tu que secaste o mar e estancaste as águas do grande abismo? Tu que abriste no fundo do mar um caminho, para por aí passarem os resgatados?
11 Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.	11 Por aí voltarão aqueles que o Senhor tiver libertado. Chegarão a Sião com cânticos de triunfo, uma eterna alegria cingir-lhes-á a cabeça; o júbilo e a alegria os invadirão, a tristeza e os lamentos fugirão.
12 I, even I, am he that comforteth you: who art thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man that shall die, and of the son of man which shall be made as grass;	12 Sou eu, sou eu quem vos consola! Como podes temer um mortal, um filho do homem, que acabará como a erva?
13 And forgettest the LORD thy maker, that hath stretched forth the heavens, and laid the foundations of the earth; and hast feared continually every day because of the fury of the oppressor, as if he were ready to destroy? and where is the fury of the oppressor?	13 Como esquecer o Senhor, teu criador, que estendeu os céus e fundou a terra, para não cessares de tremer todo o tempo diante da cólera do opressor que procura fazer-te perecer? Mas de que vale a cólera do opressor?
14 The captive exile hasteneth that he may be loosed, and that he should not die in the pit, nor that his bread should fail.	14 Em breve o prisioneiro vai ser solto, não perecerá no cárcere, e o pão não lhe faltará.
15 But I am the LORD thy God, that divided the sea, whose waves roared: The LORD of hosts is his name.	15 Eu sou o Senhor teu Deus, que revolvo o mar e faço rugir as ondas; eu me chamo o Senhor dos exércitos.
16 And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people.	16 Na tua boca coloquei minhas palavras, com a sombra de minha mão eu te cobri, para estender os céus e fundar a terra, e dizer a Sião: Tu és meu povo.
17 Awake, awake, stand up, O Jerusalem, which hast drunk at the hand of the LORD the cup of his fury; thou hast drunken the dregs of the cup of trembling, and wrung them out.	17 Desperta! Desperta! Levanta-te, Jerusalém, tu que bebeste da mão do Senhor a taça de sua cólera, que esgotaste até os resíduos o cálice que dá vertigem.
18 There is none to guide her among all the sons whom she hath brought forth; neither is there any that taketh her by the hand of all the sons that she hath brought up.	18 {De todos os filhos que ela pôs no mundo, nenhum a orientou; entre os filhos que ela criou, nenhum a segurou pela mão.}
19 These two things are come unto thee; who shall be sorry for thee? desolation, and destruction, and the famine, and the sword: by whom shall I comfort thee?	19 Esses dois males te sobrevieram, - quem te lastimaria? Saque e ruína, fome e espada - quem te consolaria?
20 Thy sons have fainted, they lie at the head of all the streets, as a wild bull in a net: they are full of the fury of the LORD, the rebuke of thy God.	20 Teus filhos jazem desfalecidos {pelos cantos da rua}, como um antílope apanhado no laço, tontos com a cólera do Senhor e com as ameaças de teu Deus.
21 Therefore hear now this, thou afflicted, and drunken, but not with wine:	21 Ouve então isto, infeliz, tu que estás embriagada, mas não pelo vinho.
22 Thus saith thy Lord the LORD, and thy God that pleadeth the cause of his people, Behold, I have taken out of thine hand the cup of trembling, even the dregs of the cup of my fury; thou shalt no more drink it again:	22 Eis o que diz o Senhor teu Deus que toma a defesa de seu povo: Vou retirar de tua mão a taça que dá a vertigem, não mais terás para beber o cálice de minha cólera,
23 But I will put it into the hand of them that afflict thee; which have said to thy soul, Bow down, that we may go over: and thou hast laid thy body as the ground, and as the street, to them that went over.	23 e eu vou pô-lo na mão dos tiranos, na mão de teus opressores que te diziam: Curva-te para passarmos, quando apresentavas teu dorso como o chão que se calca, como uma rua para os viandantes.
