Isaiah 48

1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.	1 - Udite questo, o voi casa di Giacobbe, che vi chiamate col nome d'Israele, che siete scaturiti dalla sorgente di Giuda, e giurate nel nome del Signore, e vi rammentate del Dio d'Israele non con verità nè giustamente.
2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.	2 Perchè dalla città santa vi cognominate, e vi appoggiate sopra il Dio d'Israele che ha nome Signore degli eserciti.
3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.	3 Le cose di prima le avevo di già predette: erano uscite dalla mia bocca e ve le avevo fatte sapere, ad un tratto le ho effettuate e avvennero.
4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;	4 Perchè io sapevo che tu eri duro, che avevi ferrigni i nervi della cervice e la fronte di bronzo.
5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.	5 Ti predissi le cose fin d'allora, innanzi che avvenissero te le feci udire, affinchè non dicessi: «I miei idoli hanno operato questo, le mie sculture e i miei simulacri hanno così disposto».
6 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.	6 Quelle che avevi udite, vedile tutte compiute; e voi non le proclamereste? Ora ti fo sapere delle cose nuove, recondite e che tu non sai.
7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.	7 Sono state create adesso e non allora, e prima d'oggi tu non le hai sapute, affinchè non dica: «Ecco io le sapevo».
8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.	8 Non le hai affatto udite nè sapute, non hai avuto il menomo sentore prima, perchè so che sei perfidamente perfidioso, e fin dalla nascita ti ho chiamato ribelle.
9 For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.	9 Per amore del mio nome nel mio furore sarò longanime, e per la mia gloria, ti tratterò con raffrenato sdegno affinchè non perisca.
10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.	10 Ti ho messo al fuoco di fusione ma senza [ottenerne] argento, ti ho saggiato al crogiuolo della miseria.
11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.	11 Per me, per me ho agito così, affine di non essere bestemmiato: e la gloria mia ad altri non darò.
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.	12 Ascoltami, o Giacobbe, o Israele ch'io chiamai! Sono io, io che sono il primo e l'ultimo.
13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.	13 È la mia mano quella che fondò la terra, è la mia destra che ha fatto la distesa dei cieli: io li chiamo ed essi tutti insieme si presentano.
14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.	14 Radunatevi tutti voi, e ascoltate: Chi di essi predisse mai questo? Il Signore lo ha amato ed egli farà il volere di lui in Babilonia, e sarà il suo braccio contro i Caldei.
15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.	15 Io, io ho parlato e l'ho chiamato, l'ho condotto e la sua impresa è riuscita.
16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.	16 Accostatevi a me e udite questo: - Io fin da principio non ho parlato in occulto; già tempo, prima che avvenisse, io era là per effettuare. - Ed ora il Signore Dio mi ha mandato con lo spirito di Lui.
17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.	17 Così dice il Signore, il tuo redentore, il Santo d'Israele: «Io sono il Signore Dio tuo, che t'insegno, pel tuo bene, che ti reggo sulla strada che devi percorrere.
18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:	18 Avessi tu dato retta ai miei avvisi, la tua pace sarebbe come un fiume e la tua giustizia come i flutti del mare.
19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.	19 La tua discendenza sarebbe stata come l'arena, e come i suoi granelli la progenie del tuo seno; non sarebbe stato scancellato dinanzi a me, il tuo nome».
20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.	20 Uscite di Babilonia, fuggite dai Caldei! Con voce di esultanza annunziate la novella: divulgatela, diffondetela fino agli ultimi confini della terra! Dite: «Il Signore ha redento Giacobbe suo servo!».
21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.	21 Non soffrirono la sete nel deserto quando li condusse via; acqua dalla rupe fece scaturire ad essi, divise la roccia e zampillarono le acque.
22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.	22 «Non v'è pace per gli empi», dice il Signore.
