Isaiah 48

1 Hear ye this, O house of Jacob, which are called by the name of Israel, and are come forth out of the waters of Judah, which swear by the name of the LORD, and make mention of the God of Israel, but not in truth, nor in righteousness.	1 Écoutez ceci, maison de Jacob, vous qui portez le nom d’Israël, vous qui êtes la descendance de Juda et jurez par le nom de Yahvé, vous qui vous adressez au Dieu d’Israël, mais non dans le vrai et droit sens;
2 For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.	2 vous qui vous réclamez de la Ville Sainte, et vous appuyez sur le Dieu d’Israël dont le nom est Yahvé Sabaot.
3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did them suddenly, and they came to pass.	3 Depuis longtemps j’avais annoncé les premiers événements; à peine sortaient-ils de ma bouche que je les faisais connaître. Soudain j’ai agi et ils se sont réalisés.
4 Because I knew that thou art obstinate, and thy neck is an iron sinew, and thy brow brass;	4 Je savais à quel point tu es têtu, que ta nuque est une barre de fer et que ton front est de bronze.
5 I have even from the beginning declared it to thee; before it came to pass I shewed it thee: lest thou shouldest say, Mine idol hath done them, and my graven image, and my molten image, hath commanded them.	5 Aussi dès ce temps-là je t’ai annoncé ces choses. Je te les ai fait connaître avant qu’elles n’arrivent, pour que tu ne puisses pas dire: “C’est mon fétiche qui les a accomplies, c’est ma statue, taillée ou fondue, qui les a ordonnées.”
6 Thou hast heard, see all this; and will not ye declare it? I have shewed thee new things from this time, even hidden things, and thou didst not know them.	6 Tu as tout entendu, tu l’as vu, ne vas-tu pas le reconnaître? Maintenant, je te fais entendre des choses nouvelles, encore cachées et que tu ne sais pas.
7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when thou heardest them not; lest thou shouldest say, Behold, I knew them.	7 Ce n’est pas dans le passé qu’elles ont été créées, mais maintenant; jusqu’à ce jour tu n’en avais pas entendu parler, donc tu ne pourras pas dire: “Oui, je le savais.”
8 Yea, thou heardest not; yea, thou knewest not; yea, from that time that thine ear was not opened: for I knew that thou wouldest deal very treacherously, and wast called a transgressor from the womb.	8 Tu ne connaissais rien de cela, tu n’en savais rien, jamais ton oreille ne l’avait entendu; car je savais à quel point tu es rebelle et qu’on t’appelle “Infidèle-depuis-le-sein-maternel.”
9 For my name's sake will I defer mine anger, and for my praise will I refrain for thee, that I cut thee not off.	9 Mais à cause de mon Nom je retiens ma colère. Je veille à mon honneur, aussi je suis patient avec toi et je ne te fais pas disparaître.
10 Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.	10 Regarde, je t’ai purifiée comme l’argent, je t’ai éprouvée au creuset du malheur.
11 For mine own sake, even for mine own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory unto another.	11 Mais à cause de moi je vais agir, oui, à cause de moi: Comment pourrais-je supporter que mon Nom soit profané? Je n’abandonnerai ma gloire à personne.
12 Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.	12 Écoute-moi Jacob, Israël que j’ai appelé: c’est bien moi! Je suis le premier et je suis aussi le dernier.
13 Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together.	13 Ma main a fondé la terre, ma droite a étendu les cieux. Il me suffit de les appeler pour que tous ensemble se présentent.
14 All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these things? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm shall be on the Chaldeans.	14 Rassemblez-vous tous et écoutez: qui, de tout ce monde-là, a fait cette annonce: “Yahvé aime cet homme, il accomplira sa volonté contre Babylone et la race des Kaldéens”?
15 I, even I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.	15 Moi, oui moi, j’ai parlé, car c’est moi qui l’appelais et qui faisais réussir ses projets.”
16 Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.	16 “Venez à moi et écoutez: dès le début je n’ai pas parlé en cachette. J’étais présent dès le début de ces événements. Et maintenant le Seigneur Yahvé m’envoie avec son Esprit.
17 Thus saith the LORD, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the LORD thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go.	17 Voici ce que dit Yahvé, celui qui te rachète, le Saint d’Israël: “Je suis Yahvé ton Dieu; je t’instruis pour ton bien et te conduis sur le chemin où tu dois marcher.
18 O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:	18 Si tu avais été attentif à mes lois, ta prospérité serait comme un fleuve, et ta justice comme les vagues de la mer;
19 Thy seed also had been as the sand, and the offspring of thy bowels like the gravel thereof; his name should not have been cut off nor destroyed from before me.	19 ta descendance serait comme le sable, et les fruits de ton sein comme les grains de sable; leur nom ne serait jamais retranché ni effacé de devant moi.”
20 Go ye forth of Babylon, flee ye from the Chaldeans, with a voice of singing declare ye, tell this, utter it even to the end of the earth; say ye, The LORD hath redeemed his servant Jacob.	20 Sortez de Babel, fuyez de chez les Kaldéens! Lancez ce cri de joie et qu’on l’entende, qu’il coure jusqu’aux extrémités de la terre, dites: “Yahvé a racheté son serviteur Jacob!
21 And they thirsted not when he led them through the deserts: he caused the waters to flow out of the rock for them: he clave the rock also, and the waters gushed out.	21 Ils n’ont pas eu soif au désert où il les menait, pour eux il a tiré l’eau du rocher, il a fendu le roc et les eaux ont jailli.”
22 There is no peace, saith the LORD, unto the wicked.	22 Mais pas de paix pour les méchants, dit Yahvé.
