KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.1 But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, and formed you, O Israel: Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name: you are mine.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.2 When you pass through the water, I will be with you; in the rivers you shall not drown. When you walk through fire, you shall not be burned; the flames shall not consume you.
For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.3 For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your savior. I give Egypt as your ransom, Ethiopia and Seba in return for you.
Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.4 Because you are precious in my eyes and glorious, and because I love you, I give men in return for you and peoples in exchange for your life.
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;5 Fear not, for I am with you; from the east I will bring back your descendants, from the west I will gather you.
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;6 I will say to the north: Give them up! and to the south: Hold not back! Bring back my sons from afar, and my daughters from the ends of the earth:
Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.7 Everyone who is named as mine, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.8 Lead out the people who are blind though they have eyes, who are deaf though they have ears.
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.9 Let all the nations gather together, let the peoples assemble! Who among them could have revealed this, or foretold to us the earlier things? Let them produce witnesses to prove themselves right, that one may hear and say, "It is true!"
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.10 You are my witnesses, says the LORD, my servants whom I have chosen To know and believe in me and understand that it is I. Before me no god was formed, and after me there shall be none.
I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.11 It is I, I the LORD; there is no savior but me.
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.12 It is I who foretold, I who saved; I made it known, not any strange god among you; You are my witnesses, says the LORD. I am God,
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?13 yes, from eternity I am He; There is none who can deliver from my hand: who can countermand what I do?
Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.14 Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sakes I send to Babylon; I will lower all the bars, and the Chaldeans shall cry out in lamentation.
I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;16 Thus says the LORD, who opens a way in the sea and a path in the mighty waters,
Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.17 Who leads out chariots and horsemen, a powerful army, Till they lie prostrate together, never to rise, snuffed out and quenched like a wick.
Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.18 Remember not the events of the past, the things of long ago consider not;
Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.19 See, I am doing something new! Now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? In the desert I make a way, in the wasteland, rivers.
The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.20 Wild beasts honor me, jackals and ostriches, For I put water in the desert and rivers in the wasteland for my chosen people to drink,
This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.21 The people whom I formed for myself, that they might announce my praise.
But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.22 Yet you did not call upon me, O Jacob, for you grew weary of me, O Israel.
Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.23 You did not bring me sheep for your holocausts, nor honor me with your sacrifices. I did not exact from you the service of offerings, nor weary you for frankincense.
Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.24 You did not buy me sweet cane for money, nor fill me with the fat of your sacrifices; Instead, you burdened me with your sins, and wearied me with your crimes.
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.25 It is I, I, who wipe out, for my own sake, your offenses; your sins I remember no more.
Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.26 Would you have me remember, have us come to trial? Speak up, prove your innocence!
Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.27 Your first father sinned; your spokesmen rebelled against me
Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.28 Till I repudiated the holy gates, put Jacob under the ban, and exposed Israel to scorn.
