Isaiah 43

1 But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.	1 Et maintenant, voici ce que dit Yahvé, celui qui t’a créé, Jacob, celui qui t’a formé, Israël: N’aie pas peur, puisque je t’ai racheté, je t’ai appelé par ton nom et tu es à moi.
2 When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.	2 Si tu traverses les eaux je serai avec toi, les fleuves ne t’engloutiront pas. Si tu marches à travers le feu, tu ne souffriras pas et les flammes ne te brûleront pas.
3 For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.	3 Car je suis Yahvé, ton Dieu, le Saint d’Israël, ton Sauveur. J’ai donné l’Égypte pour te racheter, j’ai livré Kouch et Séba en échange de toi.
4 Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.	4 Tu comptes tellement à mes yeux, que je te rachète avec des vies humaines; pour toi je donnerai des peuples, parce que tu vaux pour moi et que je t’aime.
5 Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;	5 N’aie pas peur car je suis avec toi, du levant j’amènerai ta descendance, du couchant je te rassemblerai.
6 I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;	6 Je dirai au nord: “Donne-les”, et au midi: “Ne les retiens pas, fais venir du plus loin mes fils, et mes filles, des extrémités de la terre,
7 Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him.	7 ramène tous ceux qui portent mon nom, que j’ai créés et formés pour ma gloire.
8 Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the deaf that have ears.	8 Fais sortir le peuple aveugle et qui a des yeux, les sourds qui ont des oreilles.”
9 Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.	9 Que les nations se rassemblent toutes et que les peuples se joignent: qui parmi vous nous avait annoncé tout cela, et nous avait fait connaître ce qui est arrivé? Qui nous a fait connaître les choses anciennes? Qu’ils produisent des témoins pour se justifier, en les entendant on pourra dire: “C’était vrai!”.
10 Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.	10 Vous êtes mes témoins, dit Yahvé. et vous êtes le serviteur que je me suis choisi, sachez-le donc, croyez en moi et comprenez qui je suis. Aucun Dieu n’a été formé avant moi, et il n’y en aura pas après moi.
11 I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.	11 Il n’y a que moi, moi, Yahvé, et personne ne sauve sinon moi.
12 I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.	12 C’est moi qui ai parlé et qui ai dit juste, c’est moi qui l’ai fait savoir, et non pas un de vos dieux étrangers. Vous êtes mes témoins - parole de Yahvé: c’est moi qui suis Dieu!
13 Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?	13 Depuis toujours je le suis, et nul ne peut délivrer de ma main, si je fais quelque chose, qui me fera reculer?
14 Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.	14 Voici ce que dit Yahvé, celui qui vous rachète, le Saint d’Israël: Pour vous j’ai envoyé du monde à Babylone et j’en ai fait tomber les verrous, chez les Kaldéens la joie s’est changée en pleurs.
15 I am the LORD, your Holy One, the creator of Israel, your King.	15 Je suis Yahvé, votre Saint, le Créateur d’Israël, votre Roi!
16 Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;	16 Voici ce que dit Yahvé, lui qui ouvrit un chemin à travers la mer, un sentier dans les eaux déchaînées,
17 Which bringeth forth the chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are quenched as tow.	17 qui fit sortir les chars et les chevaux, l’armée, avec tous ses guerriers… Puis ils se sont couchés pour ne plus se relever, ils se sont éteints, consumés comme une mèche.
18 Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old.	18 Mais ne parlez plus de ces faits anciens, cessez de penser aux événements du passé,
19 Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.	19 car voici que je fais une chose nouvelle, elle sort de terre: ne le voyez-vous pas? Je vais tracer un chemin dans le désert, placer des fleuves dans la terre aride.
20 The beast of the field shall honour me, the dragons and the owls: because I give waters in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert, to give drink to my people, my chosen.	20 Les bêtes sauvages me rendront grâces, les chacals et les hiboux du désert, pour avoir donné de l’eau au désert et des fleuves à la terre aride, afin que boive le peuple que je me suis choisi.
21 This people have I formed for myself; they shall shew forth my praise.	21 Ce peuple, je l’ai créé pour moi: il redira mes louanges.
22 But thou hast not called upon me, O Jacob; but thou hast been weary of me, O Israel.	22 Vois, Jacob, tu ne criais guère vers moi, tu t’étais fatigué de moi.
23 Thou hast not brought me the small cattle of thy burnt offerings; neither hast thou honoured me with thy sacrifices. I have not caused thee to serve with an offering, nor wearied thee with incense.	23 Tu ne m’apportais pas tes agneaux pour un holocauste, tu ne m’honorais pas par des sacrifices. Et moi, je ne t’imposais pas des offrandes, tu n’étais pas taxé pour de l’encens.
24 Thou hast bought me no sweet cane with money, neither hast thou filled me with the fat of thy sacrifices: but thou hast made me to serve with thy sins, thou hast wearied me with thine iniquities.	24 Tu n’as pas dépensé beaucoup en roseaux parfumés, la graisse de tes sacrifices ne m’a pas étouffé. Tu m’as obligé à supporter tes péchés, j’étais fatigué de tes fautes.
25 I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.	25 Mais moi, moi encore, j’efface tes fautes: je ne me souviendrai plus de tes péchés.
26 Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified.	26 Rappelle-moi, que nous mettions les choses au point; explique-toi pour te justifier.
27 Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me.	27 Ton premier père a péché, et tes maîtres ensuite ont été infidèles;
28 Therefore I have profaned the princes of the sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the curse, and Israel to reproaches.	28 c’est pourquoi j’ai rejeté les chefs du Sanctuaire, j’ai livré Jacob à l’anathème, j’ai voulu qu’Israël soit méprisé.
