1 The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.	1 - Vaticinio su Damasco. Ecco che Damasco cesserà d'esser una città, e sarà un mucchio di macerie.
2 The cities of Aroer are forsaken: they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.	2 Le città di Aroer saranno abbandonate alle mandre delle pecore, ivi si riposeranno senza che alcuno le disturbi.
3 The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus, and the remnant of Syria: they shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.	3 Ed Efraim resterà senza difesa, e Damasco senza regno; e sarà degli avanzi della Siria come della gloria dei figli di Israele, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
4 And in that day it shall come to pass, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.	4 E in quel giorno Giacobbe vedrà la sua gloria illanguidirsi e la pinguedine della sua carne emaciarsi.
5 And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; and it shall be as he that gathereth ears in the valley of Rephaim.	5 E sarà come uno che raccoglie dopo la mèsse ciò che è rimasto e affastella una bracciata di spighe; e sarà come chi va spigolando nella vallata di Rafaim.
6 Yet gleaning grapes shall be left in it, as the shaking of an olive tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the outmost fruitful branches thereof, saith the LORD God of Israel.	6 In esso resterà poco da racimolare, come un olivo bacchiato: due o tre bacche sulla punta dei rami; e sulla cima, quattro o cinque, e saranno tutti i suoi frutti, dice il Signore Dio d'Israele.
7 At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.	7 In quel giorno l'uomo si rivolgerà al suo fattore e i suoi occhi riguarderanno verso il Santo di Israele;
8 And he shall not look to the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall respect that which his fingers have made, either the groves, or the images.	8 e non si volgerà più agli altari che hanno fatto le sue mani, e i boschi e le are che furono opera delle sue dita non vorrà più vederli.
9 In that day shall his strong cities be as a forsaken bough, and an uppermost branch, which they left because of the children of Israel: and there shall be desolation.	9 In quel giorno le sue città forti saranno abbandonate, come gli aratri e le biade furono abbandonate all'apparire dei figli di Israele: e sarai deserta.
10 Because thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and hast not been mindful of the rock of thy strength, therefore shalt thou plant pleasant plants, and shalt set it with strange slips:	10 Perchè ti sei dimenticata di Dio tuo salvatore, e del tuo forte difensore non ti sei ricordata: perciò tu pianterai piante di buona qualità, seminerai specie rara e forestiera.
11 In the day shalt thou make thy plant to grow, and in the morning shalt thou make thy seed to flourish: but the harvest shall be a heap in the day of grief and of desperate sorrow.	11 Nel dì della piantagione infittiranno come l'uva spina, di buon'ora il tuo seme farà il fiore, ma il giorno che vorrai godere la tua eredità, la mèsse sarà portata via con grave tuo rincrescimento.
12 Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, that make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters!	12 Guai alla moltitudine dei popoli numerosi, come i molti flutti del risonante mare; e alle turbe rumoreggianti, come rumoreggeranno molte acque!
13 The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters: but God shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like a rolling thing before the whirlwind.	13 Rumoreggerranno i popoli col rumore d'acque straripanti; ma Dio li sgriderà, e fuggiranno lontano, e saranno travolti come la polvere dei monti dinanzi al vento, e come un vortice di nubi dinanzi alla bufera.
14 And behold at eveningtide trouble; and before the morning he is not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.	14 Sarà la sera, ed ecco lo sbigottimento: al giunger del mattino non ci saranno più. Questa sarà la parte che toccherà a coloro che ci hanno devastati, e la sorte riserbata ai nostri saccheggiatori.
