Wisdom 5

KING JAMES BIBLE	JERUSALEM
1 Then shall the righteous man stand in great boldness before the face of such as have afflicted him, and made no account of his labours.	1 Alors le juste se tiendra debout, plein d'assurance, en présence de ceux qui l'opprimèrent, et qui,pour ses labeurs, n'avaient que mépris.
2 When they see it, they shall be troubled with terrible fear, and shall be amazed at the strangeness of his salvation, so far beyond all that they looked for.	2 A sa vue, ils seront troublés par une peur terrible, stupéfaits de le voir sauvé contre toute attente.
3 And they repenting and groaning for anguish of spirit shall say within themselves, This was he, whom we had sometimes in derision, and a proverb of reproach:	3 Ils se diront entre eux, saisis de regrets et gémissant, le souffle oppressé:
4 We fools accounted his life madness, and his end to be without honour:	4 "Le voilà, celui que nous avons jadis tourné en dérision et dont nous avons fait un objet d'outrage,nous, insensés! Nous avons tenu sa vie pour folie, et sa fin pour infâme.
5 How is he numbered among the children of God, and his lot is among the saints!	5 Comment donc a-t-il été compté parmi les fils de Dieu? Comment a-t-il son lot parmi les saints?
6 Therefore have we erred from the way of truth, and the light of righteousness hath not shined unto us, and the sun of righteousness rose not upon us.	6 Oui, nous avons erré hors du chemin de la vérité; la lumière de la justice n'a pas brillé pour nous, lesoleil ne s'est pas levé pour nous.
7 We wearied ourselves in the way of wickedness and destruction: yea, we have gone through deserts, where there lay no way: but as for the way of the Lord, we have not known it.	7 Nous nous sommes rassasiés dans les sentiers de l'iniquité et de la perdition, nous avons traversédes déserts sans chemins, et la voie du Seigneur, nous ne l'avons pas connue!
8 What hath pride profited us? or what good hath riches with our vaunting brought us?	8 A quoi nous a servi l'orgueil? Que nous ont valu richesse et jactance?
9 All those things are passed away like a shadow, and as a post that hasted by;	9 Tout cela a passé comme une ombre, comme une nouvelle fugitive.
10 And as a ship that passeth over the waves of the water, which when it is gone by, the trace thereof cannot be found, neither the pathway of the keel in the waves;	10 Tel un navire qui parcourt l'onde agitée, sans qu'on puisse découvrir la trace de son passage ni lesillage de sa carène dans les flots;
11 Or as when a bird hath flown through the air, there is no token of her way to be found, but the light air being beaten with the stroke of her wings and parted with the violent noise and motion of them, is passed through, and therein afterwards no sign where she went is to be found;	11 tel encore un oiseau qui vole à travers les airs, sans que de son trajet on découvre un vestige; ilfrappe l'air léger, le fouette de ses plumes, il le fend en un violent sifflement, s'y fraie une route en remuant lesailes, et puis, de son passage on ne trouve aucun signe;
12 Or like as when an arrow is shot at a mark, it parteth the air, which immediately cometh together again, so that a man cannot know where it went through:	12 telle encore une flèche lancée vers le but; l'air déchiré revient aussitôt sur lui-même, si bien qu'onignore le chemin qu'elle a pris.
13 Even so we in like manner, as soon as we were born, began to draw to our end, and had no sign of virtue to shew; but were consumed in our own wickedness.	13 Ainsi de nous: à peine nés, nous avons disparu, et nous n'avons à montrer aucune trace de vertu;dans notre malice nous nous sommes consumés!"
14 For the hope of the Godly is like dust that is blown away with the wind; like a thin froth that is driven away with the storm; like as the smoke which is dispersed here and there with a tempest, and passeth away as the remembrance of a guest that tarrieth but a day.	14 Oui, l'espoir de l'impie est comme la bale emportée par le vent, comme l'écume légère chassée parla tempête; il se dissipe comme fumée au vent, il passe comme le souvenir de l'hôte d'un jour.
15 But the righteous live for evermore; their reward also is with the Lord, and the care of them is with the most High.	15 Mais les justes vivent à jamais, leur récompense est auprès du Seigneur, et le Très-Haut a soucid'eux.
16 Therefore shall they receive a glorious kingdom, and a beautiful crown from the Lord's hand: for with his right hand shall he cover them, and with his arm shall he protect them.	16 Aussi recevront-ils la couronne royale magnifique et le diadème de beauté, de la main duSeigneur; car de sa droite il les protégera, et de son bras, comme d'un bouclier, il les couvrira.
17 He shall take to him his jealousy for complete armour, and make the creature his weapon for the revenge of his enemies.	17 Pour armure, il prendra son ardeur jalouse, il armera la création pour repousser ses ennemis;
18 He shall put on righteousness as a breastplate, and true judgment instead of an helmet.	18 pour cuirasse il revêtira la justice, il mettra pour casque un jugement sans feinte,
19 He shall take holiness for an invincible shield.	19 il prendra pour bouclier la sainteté invincible;
20 His severe wrath shall he sharpen for a sword, and the world shall fight with him against the unwise.	20 de sa colère inexorable il fera une épée tranchante, et l'univers ira au combat avec lui contre lesinsensés.
21 Then shall the right aiming thunderbolts go abroad; and from the clouds, as from a well drawn bow, shall they fly to the mark.	21 Traits bien dirigés, les éclairs jailliront, et des nuages, comme d'un arc bien bandé, voleront vers lebut;
22 And hailstones full of wrath shall be cast as out of a stone bow, and the water of the sea shall rage against them, and the floods shall cruelly drown them.	22 une baliste lancera des grêlons chargés de courroux, les flots de la mer contre eux feront rage, lesfleuves les submergeront sans merci,
23 Yea, a mighty wind shall stand up against them, and like a storm shall blow them away: thus iniquity shall lay waste the whole earth, and ill dealing shall overthrow the thrones of the mighty.	23 un souffle puissant se lèvera contre eux et les vannera comme un ouragan. Ainsi l'iniquitédévastera la terre entière et la malfaisance renversera des trônes de puissants.
