Psalms 4

KING JAMES BIBLENEW AMERICAN BIBLE
Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.1 For the leader; with stringed instruments. A psalm of David.
O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.2 Answer when I call, my saving God. In my troubles, you cleared a way; show me favor; hear my prayer.
But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.3 How long will you people mock my honor, love what is worthless, chase after lies? Selah
Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.4 Know that the LORD works wonders for the faithful; the LORD hears when I call out.
Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.5 Tremble and do not sin; upon your beds ponder in silence.
There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.6 Offer fitting sacrifice and trust in the LORD.
Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.7 Many say, "May we see better times! LORD, show us the light of your face!" Selah
I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.8 But you have given my heart more joy than they have when grain and wine abound.
In peace I shall both lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me secure.
