KING JAMES BIBLEDOUAI-RHEIMS
Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.1 When the lord brought back the captivity of Sion, we became like men comforted.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.2 Then was our mouth filled with gladness; and our tongue with joy. Then shall they say among the Gentiles: The Lord hath done great things for them.
Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.3 The Lord hath done great things for us: we are become joyful.
As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.4 Turn again our captivity, O Lord, as a stream in the south.
Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
Going they went and wept, casting their seeds.
But coming they shall come with joyfulness, carrying their sheaves.
