1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.	1 E Josaphat si addormentò co' padri suoi, e fu sepolto con essi nella città di David: e gli succedette nel regno Joram suo figliuolo.
2 And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.	2 E i suoi fratelli, figliuoli di Josaphat, furono Azaria, e Jahiel e Zacharia, e Azaria, e Michael, e Saphatia: tutti questi figliuoli di Josaphat re di Giuda.
3 And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.	3 E il padre loro diede ad essi molti doni in oro, e argento, e delle entrate, e delle città fortissime in Giuda: ma il regno lo diede a Joram, perchè egli era il primogenito.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.	4 Joram pertanto prese possesso del regno del padre suo: e quando ebbe stabilita la sua autorità, fece morir di spada tutti i suoi fratelli, e alcuni dei principi d'Israele.
5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.	5 Trentadue anni avea Joram quando cominciò a regnare: e regnò otto anni in Gerusalemme.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.	6 E camminò per le vie dei re d'Israele, come avea fatto la casa di Achab: perocché egli avea per moglie una figliuola di Achab, ed ei fece il male nel cospetto del Signore.
7 Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.	7 Con tutto ciò il Signore non volle sperdere la casa di David a causa dell'alleanza fatta con lui: e perchè avea promesso di lasciare a lui, e a' suoi figliuoli una facella in ogni tempo.
8 In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.	8 In quel tempo Edom si ribellò, e si sottrasse dalla soggezione di Giuda, e si creò un re.
9 Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.	9 E Joram portatosi colà co' suoi capitani, e con tutta la cavalleria, che teneva seco, di notte assalì, e sconfisse gl'Idumei, e tutti i capitani della loro cavalleria, i quali lo aveano circondato.
10 So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.	10 Con tutto ciò l'Idumea fu ribelle, e si sottrasse all'impero di Giuda, com'è anche in oggi. In quel tempo anche Lobna si ritiro dalla ubbidienza di lui: perchè egli avea abbandonato il Signore Dio de' padri suoi.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah, and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.	11 Egli oltre a ciò fece ergere de' luoghi eccelsi nella città di Giuda, e indusse gli abitanti di Gerusalemme all'idolatria, e Giuda ad essere peccatore.
12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the LORD God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,	12 Or fu recata a lui una lettera di Elia profeta, nella quale stava scritto: Queste cose dice il Signore Dio di David padre tuo: Perche tu non hai battute le vie di Josaphat tuo padre, né le vie di Asa re di Giuda,
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father's house, which were better than thyself:	13 Ma se' andato dietro ai re d'Israele, e hai indotti a idolatrare Giuda, e sgli abitanti di Gerusalemme imitando l'idolatria della casa di Achab, e di più hai messi a morte i tuoi fratelli, stirpe del padre tuo, migliori di te:
14 Behold, with a great plague will the LORD smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:	14 Ecco che il Signore ti percuoterà con aspro flagello insieme col popol tuo, e co' tuoi figliuoli, e colle tue mogli, e con tutto quello, che a te appartiene:
15 And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.	15 E tu ti ammalerai di malattia pessima nel tuo ventre a segno tale, che usciran fuora a poco a poco ogni dì le tue viscere.
16 Moreover the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:	16 Signore adunque risvegliò contro Joram lo spirito de' Filistei, e degli Arabi, che confinano cogli Etiopi:
17 And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king's house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.	17 Ed entrarono nella terra di Giuda, e la devastarono, e portaron via tutto quello, che trovarono nella casa del re, e anche i suoi figliuoli, e le mogli: e non gli rimase altro figliuolo, se non Joachaz, che era il più piccolo di età.
18 And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.	18 E di più il Signore lo flagellò con malattia incurabile di ventre.
19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.	19 E un giorno succedendo all'altro, consumandosi le rivoluzioni de' tempi, terminò il corso di due anni: ed egli distrutto dal suo pestifero morbo, talmente che gettava fuora anche gl'intestini, fini di penare, e di vivere. E morto che fu di quell'orrido male, il popolo non fece a lui. come a' suoi maggiori, l'esequie coll'abbruciarlo secondo il costume.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.	20 Trentadue anni aveva egli quando principiò a regnare e otto anni regnò in Gerusalemme. E camminò non rettamente, e lo seppellirono nella città di David: ma non nel sepolcro dei re.
