1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.	1 - Nel secondo anno di Joas figlio di Joacaz, re d'Israele, cominciò a regnare Amasia figlio di Joas, re di Giuda.
2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.	2 Aveva venticinque anni quando cominciò a regnare e regnò ventinove anni in Gerusalemme. Ebbe per madre Joadan di Gerusalemme.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.	3 Operò rettamente al cospetto del Signore, non però come Davide suo padre. Seguì in tutto il padre suo Joas;
4 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.	4 se non che neppur lui soppresse le alture e il popolo continuò ad immolar vittime e a bruciar incenso sulle alture.
5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.	5 Avendo conseguito il regno, uccise i servi suoi, che avevano data la morte al re suo padre;
6 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.	6 non uccise i figli degli assassini, secondo quel che è scritto nella legge di Mosè imposta dal Signore, quando disse: «Non moriranno i padri per i figli, nè i figli moriranno per i loro padri, ma ciascuno morirà per i suoi peccati».
7 He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.	7 Percosse gli Idumei nella valle delle Saline, in numero di diecimila, e prese in battaglia Petra, a cui pose nome Jecteel, che dura fino al dì d'oggi.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.	8 Mandò allora Amasia messi a Joas figlio di Joacaz, figlio di Jeu, re d'Israele, dicendo: «Vieni e misuriamoci».
9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.	9 Ma Joas, re d'Israele, fece dire ad Amasia re di Giuda: «Il cardo del Libano mandò a dire al cedro del Libano: - Dà la tua figlia in moglie al figliuol mio. - Ma passarono le bestie del bosco, che stanno sul Libano, e calpestarono il cardo.
10 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?	10 Tu hai sconfitto gli Idumei e il tuo cuore montò in superbia; accontentati della tua gloria e stattene a casa: perchè provocare malanni per andare in rovina tu e Giuda con te?».
11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Beth-shemesh, which belongeth to Judah.	11 Amasia non gli diede ascolto e Joas, re d'Israele, salì e s'incontrò con Amasia, re di Giuda in Betsames, città di Giuda,
12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.	12 e Giuda venne battuto da Israele e ciascuno se ne fuggì alla sua tenda.
13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Beth-shemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.	13 E Amasia, re di Giuda, figlio di Joas, figlio di Ocozia venne fatto prigioniero da Joas, re d'Israele, in Betsames e fu condotto in Gerusalemme. E venne abbattuto il muro di Gerusalemme dalla porta di Efraim fino alla porta d'angolo per un tratto di quattrocento cubiti,
14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.	14 e prese tutto l'oro e l'argento e tutti gli oggetti preziosi che si trovavano nella casa del Signore e nei tesori del re; prese pure gli ostaggi e se ne ritornò in Samaria.
15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?	15 Il resto poi delle azioni compiute da Joas, e il suo valore nel combattere contro Amasia, re di Giuda, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Israele?
16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.	16 Joas dormì co' suoi padri e venne sepolto a Samaria coi re d'Israele e regnò in sua vece il figlio di lui Geroboamo.
17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.	17 Visse poi Amasia, figlio di Joas, re di Giuda, dopo la morte di Joas, figlio di Joacaz, re d'Israele, quindici anni.
18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?	18 Il resto delle azioni di Amasia, non è stato forse scritto nel libro delle Cronache dei re di Giuda?
19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.	19 Ebbe luogo contro di lui una cospirazione in Gerusalemme ed egli fuggì in Lachis. Furono mandati alcuni dietro a lui in Lachis e venne colà ucciso;
20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.	20 e fu trasportato con cavalli e sepolto a Gerusalemme coi suoi padri nella città di Davide.
21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.	21 Tutto il popolo di Giuda prese Azaria, giovane di sedici anni e lo costituì re in luogo del padre suo Amasia.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.	22 Egli edificò Elat e la restituì a Giuda, dopo che il re riposò co' suoi padri.
23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.	23 Nell'anno decimo quinto di Amasia figlio di Joas, re di Giuda, cominciò a regnare in Samaria Geroboamo figlio di Joas, re d'Israele, e regnò quarantun anno;
24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.	24 fece il male al cospetto del Signore e non si allontanò dai peccati di Geroboamo, figlio di Nabat che fece peccare Israele.
25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gath-hepher.	25 Egli restituì i confini d'Israele dall'entrata di Emat fino al mare del deserto, secondo la parola del Signore Dio di Israele proferita per mezzo del suo servo Giona figlio di Amati, profeta nativo di Get, che è in Ofer.
26 For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.	26 Vide il Signore la grande afflizione d'Israele, come fossero ridotti perfino gli schiavi e gli ultimi del popolo e come non vi fosse chi porgesse aiuto a Israele.
27 And the LORD said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.	27 Il Signore non aveva detto di voler distrutto il nome d'Israele dalla faccia della terra, ma lo salvò per mezzo di Geroboamo figlio di Joas.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?	28 Il resto poi delle azioni di Geroboamo e tutto ciò che egli fece, e la prodezza colla quale combattè e il modo col quale restituì ad Israele Damasco ed Emat di Giuda, tutte queste cose non sono forse state scritte nel libro delle Cronache dei re d'Israele?
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.	29 S'addormentò Geroboamo co' suoi padri re d'Israele e Zaccaria figliuol suo gli successe sul trono.
