1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;	1 El rey Salomón amó a muchas mujeres, además de la hija del Faraón: mujeres moabitas, amonitas, edomitas, sidonias e hititas,
2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.	2 es decir, de esas naciones de las que el Señor había dicho a los israelitas: «No se unan a ellas, y que ellas no se unan a ustedes; seguramente les desviarán el corazón hacia otros dioses». Pero Salomón se enamoró de ellas.
3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.	3 Tuvo setecientas mujeres con rango de princesas y trescientas concubinas, y sus mujeres le pervirtieron el corazón.
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.	4 Así, en la vejez de Salomón, sus mujeres les desviaron el corazón hacia otros dioses, y su corazón ya no perteneció íntegramente al Señor, su Dios, como el de su padre David.
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.	5 Salomón fue detrás de Astarté, la diosa de los sidonios, y detrás de Milcóm, el abominable ídolo de los amonitas.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.	6 El hizo lo que es malo a los ojos del Señor, y no siguió plenamente al Señor, como lo había hecho su padre David.
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.	7 Fue entonces cuando Salomón erigió, sobre la montaña que está al este de Jerusalén, un lugar alto dedicado a Quemós, el abominable ídolo de Moab, y a Milcóm, el ídolo de los amonitas.
8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.	8 Y lo mismo hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, que quemaban incienso y ofrecían sacrificios a sus dioses.
9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,	9 El Señor se indignó contra Salomón, porque su corazón se había apartado de él, el Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.	10 y le había prohibido ir detrás de otros dioses. Pero Salomón no observó lo que le había mandado el Señor.
11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.	11 Entonces el Señor dijo a Salomón: «Porque has obrado así y no has observado mi alianza ni los preceptos que yo te prescribí, voy a arrancarte el reino y se lo daré a uno de tus servidores.
12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.	12 Sin embargo, no lo haré mientras tú vivas, por consideración a tu padre David: se lo arrancaré de las manos a tu hijo.
13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.	13 Pero no le arrancaré todo el reino, sino que le daré a tu hijo una tribu, por consideración a mi servidor David y a Jerusalén, la que yo elegí».
14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.	14 El Señor le suscitó a Salomón un adversario: Hadad, el edomita, de la estirpe real de Edom.
15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;	15 En efecto, después que David derrotó a Edom, Joab, el general del ejército, al subir para enterrar a sus víctimas, ultimó a todos los varones de Edom.
16 (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)	16 Porque Joab se quedó allí seis meses, con todo Israel, hasta acabar con todos los varones de Edom.
17 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.	17 Pero Hadad, que entonces era muy joven, logró huir con algunos edomitas servidores de su padre, para ir a Egipto.
18 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.	18 Partieron de Madián y llegaron a Parán, donde se les agregaron algunos hombres de Parán. Luego entraron en Egipto y se presentaron ante el Faraón, rey de Egipto, que dio a Hadad una casa, le aseguró el sustento y le concedió tierras.
19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.	19 Hadad se ganó a tal punto el favor del Faraón, que este le dio por esposa a su cuñada, la hermana de Tajfenés, la reina madre.
20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.	20 La hermana de Tajfenés le dio un hijo, llamado Guenubat, al que Tajfenés crió en la casa del Faraón. Así Guenubat permaneció en la casa del Faraón, entre los hijos de este.
21 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.	21 Pero cuando Hadad se enteró en Egipto de que David se había ido a descansar con sus padres, y que también había muerto Joab, el general del ejército, dijo al Faraón: «Déjame ir a mi país».
22 Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.	22 El Faraón le respondió: «¿Qué te falta junto a mí para que ahora trates de ir a tu país?». «Nada, dijo él, pero déjame partir».
23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:	23 Dios le suscitó además a Salomón otro adversario: Rezón, hijo de Eliadá. El había huido de Hadadézer, rey de Sobá, su señor;
24 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.	24 Había agrupado a unos cuantos hombres en torno de él y se había convertido en jefe de una banda. Como David los perseguía a muerte, fue a establecerse en Damasco, y allí reinó.
25 And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
26 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.	26 Jeroboam, hijo de Nebat, el efraimita, natural de Seredá –cuya madre, una viuda, se llamaba Seruá– estaba al servicio de Salomón y se sublevó contra él.
27 And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.	27 La ocasión en que se sublevó contra el rey fue la siguiente: Salomón estaba construyendo el Terraplén y cubría el desnivel que había en la Ciudad de David, su padre.
28 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.	28 Jeroboam era un hombre de gran valía, y Salomón, al ver cómo el joven ejecutaba la obra, lo puso al frente de los servicios que debía prestar la casa de José.
29 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:	29 En cierta ocasión, Jeroboam salió de Jerusalén y lo encontró en el camino el profeta Ajías, de Silo; este iba cubierto con un manto nuevo, y los dos estaban solos en el campo.
30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:	30 Ajías tomó el manto que llevaba encima y lo desgarró en doce pedazos.
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:	31 Luego dijo a Jeroboam: «Toma para di diez pedazos, porque sí habla el Señor, el Dios de Israel: Yo voy a desgarrar el reino que Salomón tiene en su mano, y te daré las diez tribus.
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)	32 Una sola tribu será para él, por consideración a mi servidor David y a Jerusalén, la ciudad que yo elegí entre todas las tribus de Israel.
33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.	33 Porque él me abandonó y se postró delante de Astarté, la diosa de los sidonios, delante de Quemós, el dios de Moab, y delante de Milcóm, el dios de los amonitas, y porque no siguió mis caminos haciendo lo que es recto a mis ojos y practicando mis preceptos y mis leyes como su padre David.
34 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:	34 Pero no le quitaré el reino de su mano, sino que lo mantendré como jefe todos los días de su vida, por consideración a mi servidor David, a quien elegí y que observó mis mandamientos y preceptos;
35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.	35 quitaré el reino de manos de su hijo y te lo daré a ti. A ti te daré diez tribus
36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.	36 y a su hijo una sola, a fin de que mi servidor David tenga siempre una lámpara ante mí en Jerusalén, la ciudad que yo me elegí para poner mi Nombre en ella.
37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.	37 En cuanto a ti, yo te constituiré, tú reinarás conforme a tus deseos y serás rey de Israel.
38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.	38 Si obedeces en todo lo que yo te ordene y sigues mis caminos, si haces lo que es recto a mis ojos, observando mis preceptos y mis mandamientos, como lo hizo mi servidor David, yo estaré contigo y te edificaré una dinastía estable, como la edifiqué para David. Te entregaré a Israel
39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.	39 y humillaré a la estirpe de David a causa de esto, aunque no para siempre».
40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.	40 Salomón trató de dar muerte a Jeroboam, pero este huyó y se refugió en Egipto, junto a Sisac, rey de Egipto, donde permaneció hasta la muerte de Salomón.
41 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?	41 El resto de los hechos de Salomón y todo lo que él hizo, lo mismo que su sabiduría, ¿no está escrito en el libro de los Anales de Salomón?
42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.	42 Salomón reinó sobre todo Israel durante cuarenta años.
43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.	43 Luego se fue a descansar con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la Ciudad de David, su padre. Su hijo Roboam reinó en lugar de él.
