1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites;	1 Le roi Salomon aima beaucoup de femmes étrangères:
2 Of the nations concerning which the LORD said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.	2 11:3 il eut 700 femmes de rang princier et 300 concubines (en plus de la fille du Pharaon): des Moabites, des Ammonites, des Édomites, des Sidoniennes, des Hittites (et ses femmes détournèrent son cœur).
3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.	3 11:2 Elles étaient de ces nations dont Yahvé avait dit: “Vous n’entrerez pas chez elles et elles n’entreront pas chez vous, car sûrement elles vous entraîneraient à la suite d’autres dieux.” Mais Salomon s’attacha à elles, il les aima.
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.	4 Lorsque Salomon prit de l’âge, ses femmes entraînèrent son cœur à la suite d’autres dieux, il ne fut plus tout entier à Yahvé son Dieu, comme l’avait été son père David.
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.	5 Salomon suivit Astarté, la déesse des Sidoniens, et Milkom, l’abomination des Ammonites.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.	6 Il fit ce qui déplaît à Yahvé au lieu d’obéir parfaitement comme son père David.
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.	7 En ce temps-là il construisit sur la montagne à l’est de Jérusalem un sanctuaire à Kémoch, l’abomination de Moab, et un autre à Milkom, l’abomination des Ammonites.
8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.	8 Voilà ce qu’il fit pour toutes ses femmes étrangères qui offraient de l’encens et des sacrifices à leurs dieux.
9 And the LORD was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,	9 Yahvé fut en colère contre Salomon, car il s’était détourné de Yahvé Dieu d’Israël, qui pourtant lui était apparu deux fois
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.	10 et lui avait interdit de suivre d’autres dieux. Salomon n’avait pas respecté les ordres de Yahvé,
11 Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.	11 et Yahvé lui dit: “Parce que tu as fait cela, que tu n’as pas observé mon alliance et les lois que je t’avais données, je t’enlèverai le royaume et je le donnerai à ton serviteur: c’est décidé.
12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father's sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.	12 Seulement, à cause de ton père David, je ne ferai pas cela de ton vivant: c’est à ton fils que je le reprendrai.
13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake which I have chosen.	13 Et encore, je ne lui enlèverai pas tout le royaume: je lui laisserai une tribu à cause de David mon serviteur et de Jérusalem que j’ai choisie.”
14 And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king's seed in Edom.	14 Yahvé donna à Salomon un adversaire, Hadad, qui était de la famille royale d’Édom.
15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;	15 Lorsque David avait battu Édom et que Joab, le chef de l’armée, était allé pour enterrer les morts, il avait tué tous les mâles en Édom.
16 (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)	16 Joab était resté 6 mois avec Israël, jusqu’à l’extermination complète de tous les mâles d’Édom.
17 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father's servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.	17 Mais Hadad avait pris la fuite avec des Édomites serviteurs de son père pour se rendre en Égypte; Hadad était encore très jeune en ce temps-là.
18 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.	18 Ils partirent de Madian et se rendirent à Paran, puis il repartirent entraînant avec eux des hommes de Paran. Ils arrivèrent ainsi en Égypte auprès du Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, qui lui donna une maison, de la nourriture et des terres.
19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.	19 Le Pharaon avait de l’estime pour Hadad, il lui donna comme épouse la sœur de sa femme (l’épouse royale se dit Tafnès en Égyptien).
20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh's house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh's household among the sons of Pharaoh.	20 La sœur de Tafnès donna un fils à Hadad: il l’appela Guénoubat. Tafnès éleva Guénoubat dans la maison du Pharaon; il vivait dans le palais au milieu des enfants du Pharaon.
21 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.	21 Hadad apprit en Égypte la mort de David et celle de Joab, chef de l’armée; il dit alors au Pharaon: “Laisse-moi retourner dans mon pays.”
22 Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.	22 Le Pharaon lui répondit: “Tu ne manques de rien auprès de moi: pourquoi retourner dans ton pays?” Il lui dit: “Rien ne me manque, mais laisse-moi partir.” Hadad revint donc à son pays plein de haine pour Israël, et il devint roi d’Édom.
23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:	23 Dieu donna un autre adversaire à Salomon: Rézon fils d’Élyada. Il s’était enfui de chez son maître Hadadézer, roi de Soba,
24 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.	24 il avait réuni des gens autour de lui, et il était devenu chef de bande. Lorsque David voulut les massacrer, ils partirent pour Damas et s’y établirent. Rézon devint roi à Damas
25 And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.	25 et il créa des problèmes à Israël durant toute la vie de Salomon.
26 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon's servant, whose mother's name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.	26 Jéroboam aussi se révolta contre le roi alors qu’il était à son service. Il était fils de Nabat, originaire de Séréda dans la tribu d’Éphraïm, et sa mère Sérouya était veuve.
27 And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.	27 Et voici ce qui arriva: Salomon bâtissait alors le Millo et il fermait la brèche de la cité de David son père.
28 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.	28 Ce Jéroboam était un homme courageux et de grande valeur, Salomon avait remarqué la qualité de son travail. Il fit donc de lui le chef des hommes de corvée de la maison de Joseph.
29 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:	29 Un jour où Jéroboam était sorti de Jérusalem, le prophète Ahiya de Silo le rencontra. Le prophète était vêtu d’un manteau neuf et ils étaient tous deux seuls dans la campagne.
30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:	30 Ahiya saisit le manteau neuf qu’il portait sur lui, il le déchira en 12 morceaux et dit à Jéroboam:
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:	31 “Prends pour toi 10 morceaux, car voici ce que dit Yahvé, le Dieu d’Israël: Je vais arracher le royaume de la main de Salomon, et je te donnerai 10 tribus.
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David's sake, and for Jerusalem's sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)	32 Cependant je laisserai une tribu à Salomon à cause de mon serviteur David et à cause de Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie au milieu de toutes les tribus d’Israël.
33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.	33 “Je ferai cela parce qu’il m’a abandonné, parce qu’il s’est prosterné devant Astarté, la déesse des Sidoniens, devant Kémoch, le dieu de Moab, et devant Milkom, le dieu des Ammonites, parce qu’il n’a pas marché dans mes voies pour faire ce qui est juste à mes yeux, parce qu’il n’a pas obéi à mes lois et à mes ordonnances comme David son père.
34 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant's sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:	34 “Cependant, de toute sa vie, je ne lui retirerai rien du royaume et je le maintiendrai sur le trône, à cause de David, mon serviteur, que j’ai choisi et qui a observé mes commandements et mes lois.
35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son's hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.	35 C’est à son fils que j’enlèverai le royaume pour t’en donner 10 tribus,
36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.	36 je donnerai cependant une tribu à son fils afin que David mon serviteur ait toujours une lampe devant moi à Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie pour y faire habiter mon Nom.
37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.	37 “Je te ferai régner sur tout ce que tu désireras: tu régneras sur Israël.
38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.	38 Si tu obéis à mes commandements, si tu marches dans mes voies et fais ce qui est juste à mes yeux, observant mes lois et mes commandements comme l’a fait David mon serviteur, je serai avec toi. Je te bâtirai une maison aussi solide que celle j’ai bâtie à David. ”
39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.	39 NO TEXT
40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.	40 Salomon chercha à faire mourir Jéroboam, mais Jéroboam s’enfuit en Égypte auprès de Chéchonk, roi d’Égypte, et il resta en Égypte jusqu’à la mort de Salomon.
41 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?	41 Le reste des actes de Salomon, tout ce qu’il a fait, et sa sagesse, n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des actes de Salomon?
42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.	42 Salomon régna sur tout Israël à Jérusalem pendant 40 ans.
43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.	43 Salomon se coucha alors avec ses pères et on l’enterra dans la ville de David, son père. Son fils Roboam régna à sa place.
